They could do A song for the game. Maybe for a fight inside of a futuristic space club or something. But for the whole game? Please, Daft Punk doesn't know how to write music under 140BPM. Even their "dramatic" stuff for Tron Legacy was still Uhn-tish off the wazoo.

They certainly have the versatility to be able to write extremely disturbing music, so I wouldn't put it past them either to make an awesome Mass Effect soundtrack.

I'm not entirely sure though why exactly Mass Effect would need a change of composer - the current ones are doing great.

While Daft Punk admittedly did a great job with Tron, I don't know if they'd really suit the style of Mass Effect. I'd probably give Amon Tobin first shot at it.

Hmm mass effect usually goes for a more ambient or orchestral epic (kind of like star wars) soundtrack in the games. I don't know if it will fit.

But I would DEFINATELY buy the soundtrack if they were. It would probably be a plus for the movie anyways because so many people like daft punk. I bet they would be perfect for any scenes in the clubs on omega though... the upper level that is. I don't know about the lower level, I haven't really heard anything from daft punk that has fit there (haven't listened to that much daft punk though).

Their tron stuff though shows that they are capable of doing a good sound track for movies though, so I may be wrong.

I think I'd rather see the soundtrack from the game, to be honest. Little things like that go a long way toward pleasing the fans.
Besides, hearing this coming from the big screen would be an awesome moment in itself:

As much as I love Daft Punk, I don't think their music would fit in the Mass Effect universe. Maybe they can have one of their pieces in a dance club like the ones in the Citadel or Omega.

Whilst Daft Punk are awesome, I really liked the original Mass Effect music.

Particularly the final stages, where the composer decided to channel Flash Gordon and AWESOME.

So, perhaps weirdly, I'd recommend using the music from the games.

Because it was cheesy and wondeful.

I listened to the Tron Legacy soundtrack for the first time last month (still haven't seen the movie), and about halfway through I thought, "This music could have been from Mass Effect" - by which I meant the game.

So, yeah, I could easily see it. I'd prefer they get Jack Wall, Sam Hulick et. al., but Daft Punk would be a good fit.
About halfway through watching Tron Legacy i thought "Wait a minute, I AM watching a Mass Effect Movie!"

People in glowy armor shooting magical techprojectiles at eachother, Alien landscape, fate of the world. Just dub "Flynn" out for "Shepard" and its half done.

Ok, so I never saw the either Tron movie, but I found the soundtrack for Legacy on Spotify.... And wow, if that IS Daft Punk's doing, I retract my original post; they could compse the hell out of a Mass Effect title. Hell, I'd buy 1 and 2 again if they were just re-released with Daft Punk compositions.
