they wont, stupid ppl still buy hard copies and have no real serious relation with the internet or pc generally. The industry knows that without hard copies many "successful"games(not good games) would be epic fails. Marketing would be 70% useless if hardcopies didnt exist compared to now
Im not stupid, I have internet limits, seems stupid not to realise not everyone has really fast internet with a 100gb limit

plus its much more satisfying to own a physical copy

Well, over here in NZ where we have more sheep than we do people, we only get around 10g average internet a month (For me it's 25 'couse i'm special like that) but no matter what plan you get it's still the slowest damn internet on earth. It takes about 3 hours to download 1g of information so I don't think that's such a great plan.

I'm on 40 Gigs a month in NZ... and I still chew through that over the month (and usualy run out a day or two before). And that's with normal internet usage, and a online gaming. I can't imagine how much faster I'd burn through it if I had to DL 10+ Gig games. Though I know from experience, that it's never taken me 3 hours to DL a gig of data. Where the hell are you? o_O

But really overestimation is the key to making your point look good.

I would agree untill the part u said about satisfaction...

Internet limits or credit card issues are one of the few reasons i could agree getting a hard copy, but now in the age that the masses started playing games and get every crap they see marketed without even thinking, yes i call that stupid, but u dont need to worry 90% of world population is like that...

Most ppl barely use the internet at a serious level and are even afraid of it because they cant understand it and fear to online download, or only use it for really addictive stuff like wow(sorry but using internet for that only and google search doesnt mean u know it), many ppl dislike pcs as well because they are so stupid they cant even try to solve a simple problem that pops up in the pc screen and makes them rage(rage=stupid). well thats the stupid's person biggest problem in gaming 2, technical problems...
Thats close-mindness and for me its stupid just like 90% of the world

Physical copies is a waste of physical space expect if u are an idiot like my brother and u like taking pictures of them and post them on the internet to make u feel that u are not the loser u are in reality...

And like i said, hard copies wont stop being produced for very big games at least untill everyone is attached to the internet and uses it a lot and understands it, probably when the government manages to close everyone inside his home reducing the needs to get out of home by 90% therefore make ppl stay in their computers, oh no that still doesnt work since ppl will still be stupefied by games in their free time
not being particually tech savy does not make you stupid

plus generally people who play games know how to use the internet/downloads

Wouldn't at all change the way I purchase games. I have abandoned archaic disk media months ago, let that ancient, dusty medium rot with the consoles where it belongs. No more boxes, no more disks to lug around and lose or scratch, not that I ever have, but it is possible.
good that it works fine for you but there are still those who simply dont have the means/internet, that may change in the future but I like to own a copy

It certainly would save space in people's homes. But then half of them would be unplayable due to illegal DRM.

call me old fashioned but I much prefer having a real, tactile copy of something, if games went download noyl it would suck big time.

Also, Id need a much bigger hard drive.

It wouldn't affect me much. Most of my games I got online. On the other hand, I'm a PC gamer and I don't often purchase a AAA game. I also avoid Steam and other systems that require some sort of internet connection to be active all the time. I don't like attached strings.
Steam actually isnt that bad, the only bad part is when you buy/install a game (even retail)it has to update (depending on how new it is this is usually between 250mb to like 2gb+) once its updated then you can just switch back to offline mode and you dont need internet at all

the updating is really only a problem for somone with low dowanload limits (like me) and even then I can work within the steam systm

the only "constantly online" thing I know of is from Ubisoft and even then they did change that for their older titles (assins creed 2 and splinter cell)
Oh, sure, Steam is hardly the worst offender in the world of DRM. But it's not quite at the point where, if Valve goes down, I'll still be able to play all my games completely without them. I can't, say, copy my games over to a new computer from a backup without needing to reinstall Steam, the way I can with GoG or Gamersgate.

As long as Valve is up and running on their own, Steam will probably be OK. But watch out if they go bankrupt or get bought out or management turns over.

I would cry, honestly. My consoles aren't hooked up to the internet. Also, I appreciate having a physical copy of something I buy. Digital copies aren't the same.

One of the arguments constantly put forward in favour of download only games is that they would be cheaper but would they really?Maybe on PCs where there is a bit of competition but what about consoles?Look at Microsoft's Games on Demand service for Xbox 360.Virtually every game on that service can be bought cheaper in a store. If GoD was the only place you could buy Xbox games does anyone actually believe prices would drop?I highly doubt it tbh

Personally I am against download only. For example I purchased FarCry 2 and absolutely hated it so I swapped it with my buddy for a different game.If I had purchased a digital copy then I would have been stuck with it and my money would have been wasted

That would suck. A lot. Getting dirt-cheap games or borrowing/renting would be hard or annoying, and my slower Internet connection would mean waiting a while before getting anything.

I personally would love it, but I do know that it would be a huge disadvantage to people not having internet or what not. But I love downloadable copy's for many reason, for example if I own a game for my xbox then I find out its on the xbox live store ill immediately buy it then sell my physical copy. you see if something happened and my game broke or was stolen I would have to rebuy it, but with downloadable if something happened I can just re download it.

But download only will not happen for many years, im sure there will always be a way to have a physical copy.
