and I didnt like oblivion because

-blank main charachter...like black hole levels of blank
-uninteresting story..not nesicariliy the story the but I just couldnt care about what was going on
-weird leveling
-uncanny valley to the max
-an overall dullness
-no sense of conection to whats going on

I think most of this is due to that fact I played fallout 3 beforehand so yeah it was really like a step backwards
Well, based on your complaints about Oblivion, I wouldn't go pre-ordering Skyrim.
It will have a new engine so the characters might look better but I feel that even the new tech in LA Noir looks just as creepy as Oblivion. It's just that while Oblivion looked more like the Hall of Presidents, LA Noir looks more like the Haunted Mansion. More detail but no less creepily inhuman. Games just haven't gotten there yet.

My first 40 hours of both oblivion and morrowind I never did the main quest. Hell I spent 60hours in morrowind before I even cared about doing quests. It was just so unlike anything I had ever played before. Best $20 bucks I ever spent, I didn't even realize I had the GOTY extra content until after 200hours in game had passed. The game changes my life and destroyed my xbox by my playing it constantly.

The thing I love about the elder scrolls series is it is so open for exploration, with lots of quirky characters just everywhere.

If your looking for a structured story with an established character then it's probably not for you.

I'd say that you could. At least that's what I'm hoping. I was bored to tears by Oblivion, but am going to give Skyrim a shot. Mostly because I'll turn over any rock I can to find a suitable western fantasy RPG.

Your character has some background seeing as they are dragonbone but I think that the character will still be pretty much just a blank canvas and some of the levels are going to be randomly generated so I think actual story may be sacrificed to pull that off.
And in morrowind you were the nerevarine, didn't amount to much other than "your the only character who can do this".

Most of these things are things I find attractive about Oblivion and Morrowind, and I'm hoping will continue to get better in Skyrim. The Elderscrolls formula works for a lot of people, my guess is you're probably not going to like Skyrim, if you don't like a blank main character. That's not going to change.

I loved Morrowind because it was so immersive. There were a couple of things that spoiled that for me in Oblivion. One thing was that the environments in Oblivion were very repetitive. One town was very much like another, the quest areas in Oblivion were basically identical to each other. The other thing was the level scaling system that brought you absurdities such as super goblins and bandits with glass armor. I couldn't avoid the feeling that Oblivion had been dumbded down for a, shall we say, younger audience. So if Skyrim is more of a return to its TES roots I think it can be a great game.
Again with the 'dumbing down' nonsense.
No it was not dumbed down, especially with scaling enemies. In fact, the scaling made the game much harder than it had all right's to be, which is why it was removed through patches very early on.
I can't believe people still call out the level scaling despite it having been addressed as far as I recall in the very first patch.
The level scaling and dumbing down are two separate issues. Let's start with the level scaling. In my view, if you need a patch to fix it, it's not a plus point. But more serious is the dumbing down issue. Oblivion holds your hand for everything. Basically all the towns are cookie cutter and there's no feeling of interaction between the different courts and factions.

All the better to project onto. I love this about TES games.

Yes, you can like it, given Bethesda's demonstrable improvements from Morrowind to Oblivion to Fallout 3.

Wait until it comes out though :)

I'd say there is a good chance somebody who doesn't like Oblivion will like Skyrim, but it also heavily depends on what you didn't like.

It's still hard to say how much has changed in the game though, no gameplay has really been shown to the public. I'd put money down that'll change a least a little bit after E3.

Best bet is to wait for more information or just wait until the game is out for some reviews and information on how the game plays.
