I asked my mom to listen to this as she is visiting currently and tell me what she finds odd about the crowd. She said she could not find anything strange about them until I told her they are cheering for some one who doesn't exist. She then just kinds stood there a moment wondering why people would cheer for that. I agree I don't even cheer at normal concerts, but I think at that one I would. Just because of how amazing the voice software is.

I think part of the appeal is that it's a less random experience, with concerts there is always the chance that the performer will do poorly or be tired/drunk. The appeal lies within the music itself as well as the spectacle of a completely electronic experience, this is the reason that the Gorillaz and Dethklok can put on fun shows. love of the music and technology, much like seeing a movie rather than a play.
I can see that, but I still don't like the idea of completely artificial shows.

I find the robotic girl band quite alot stranger, because you really haveto wonder what they do with them when not on stage...

If Japan is missing something...

...they invite Justin Bieber! To perform with one of their boy bands (is that correct? Boy bands?)! Because, Japan has an audience for Justin Bieber?

This happened. http://www.justinbieberzone.com/2011/05/justin-bieber-and-smap-singing-baby-never-say-never/

The same sort of thing happened with Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. "Aki" is the name of the character model that plays Ming-na's character (the main heroine). She was intended to be the world's first digital actress, the same character model appearing in different movies playing different roles. But, Spirits Within bombed, so that idea sort of went down the drain with the rest of it.

This think with Hatsune Miku is interesting, though. I've known about the Vocaloids for a while, and I knew that they had named and given a physical appearance to all of their voices, but it never occurred to me they would actually go this far. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, though. This is Japan we're talking about.

I don't know why but this strikes me as kind of strange, don't get me wrong that is a really cool use of technology but I would rather a person singing in front of me rather than a projection.
It's still pretty cool though has to be said.

Is anyone else just astounded that this technology exists today?
I mean yes its a popstar thing but my god.
Maybe this isn't a real person but there was alot of work put into the technology to make this work.
