...would not have purchased 'Mount & Blade: Warband' on a whim, through Steam's 75%-off sale.
...would have a different site to refresh through the week for gaming news and random forum posting (and likely two different sites, depending on the quality of the moderators).
...wouldn't have my wife mutter over my shoulder once a week, "Hrmf... that commenter guy, again" while I'm watching that week's ZP.

You're back, Pete? I thought you had enough of the site.
I came back, I've missed reviewing and my old friends, and realized that I was being kind of a jerk. So I need to make amends.

I would have not come across BonsaiK's relationship thread, to which I almost fully credit my current romantic successes.

Also, my writing, wit, and worldly knowledge wouldn't be as good as it is now without me posting all day in this forum.

Thank you, founders of The Escapist, for all that you've done for me. :D

Really, this site is one of the greatest things to happen to me, which makes a lot of things in the forums recently even more depressing.
Like what?

...would have never watched fantastic videos
...would not have ever read so many game/movie reviews
...would still be horridly uninformed about developments in the world of video games
...would be bored far more often than I am.
...would have never discovered a number of people who are amazing

Like people constantly telling me that my opinion is wrong, people constantly making the "Am I the only one of over six billion people who..." threads, and a generally increasing amount of people who I don't like.
I'm tired of those threads too :/

If it weren't for the Escapist, I wouldn't...

...have the joy of watching Zero Punctuation,
be very entertained on a site (namely Gaia) lacking active mods,
or have the opportunity to meet as many like-minded people.

if it weren't for The Escapist and LRR, I wouldn't have spent all of my money on getting back into Magic: The Gathering.

I wouldn't be the caring, loving, tolerant, and accepting person I am today.

I would be a much worse person if it weren't for the Escapist, that's why I'll always love this place and the people that come here.

Be able to see that there ARE sane forums on the internet.

A lot of my inspiration for some minor stuff has actually come from these very forums. And the videos are something I enjoy every day each week. It's become part of my routine.

Fuck you people and your ability to have a social life constantly get songs by Queen and The Beatles stuck in my head... Or just fuck me for not being able to read something for ten minutes straight without thinking about something completely unrelated.

Anyways...
If not for the Escapist I...
-Would have less to do
-Might be grinding in some JRPG right now
-Might have confidence that somebody in the world pays attention to something I say every so often.
-Would be emo-ish
-Wouldn't have ever had anything remotely similar to an intelligent conversation
And...

would be less entertained on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Also I wouldn't have discovered a few films that I've seen reviewed.

I joined the escapist pretty recently. For the past 4 months I've been giving exams and applying to colleges; and I've had nada time to consume any form of time-consuming media. The last film i saw was Inception and the last game i played was Black Ops (SP, which i had to finish overnight).
So for the last couple of months, the only real source of entertainment for me have been the forums here, and the videos that go up (bless you Graham, Paul, Bob and Yahtzee). And without this entertainment.....well, i would've gone CRAZY, frankly.

so Thank you, Escapist. And Thank you all the awesome people here who make this online community, (UNDOUBTEDLY) the best I've ever been a part of. Thank you for keeping me sane. It means a lot.

Now back to writing meaningless, faffy college essays :)

If not for the escapist I would not have hated Valve and Bioware so much, the overzealous fans made me hate them a lot more than I did.

Same with me for these two, I also raise you;

...would never have discovered I was a furry.
...would not have seriously questioned my sexual orientation.
...would have at some point in the past exploded from not being able to express my love of Doctor Who enough.

...would probably have less people to annoy. :\
I'm doing it right now.
Whatever. Maybe it's the ambien speaking, but I love you guys anyways. <3
