Squirtle or Dragonite. Squirtle kicks ass whatever while looking cute, but Dragonite can fly and kick ass. I'd always go for air over sea or land.

A Wailord and a Vileplume just so i could reenact the infamous scene from Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy with the sperm whale and bowl of petunias. Because let's be honest if i ever went up against Ash in a fight i would simply release the Wailord into the air above him and say "Wailord, Body Slam attack" and watch with enjoyment as the panic sets on his face that there's nothing his Pikachu is going to be able to do against a few tons of Wailord.
