Actually, that's how I remembered Fury, too, but I must admit that Samuel L. Jackson did such an awesome job portraying him that it'd be very hard to replace him. It'd probably be better to write him out of the Marvel Movie Universe.

Nick Fury was black in the "Ultimate" line of comics from Marvel, and that particular Nick happened to look a hell of a lot like Jackson. And having Jackson as the head of a secret superhero agency...well, you get the idea.

They got Jackson's permission to make him look like that, on the condition that he get to play Nick Fury in future movies. It seems like a pretty awesome deal.

I didn't mind the Hoff...sure, he wasn't acting, but it wasn't an acting role.

Yeah, and in the Ultimates, Spiderman dies and is replaced by a black/mexican guy who's essentially just a bastardized version of Spiderman.
