There is no need for signatures and there never will be any on this site, although I probably wouldn't make a signature it would probably be like DontTazeMeBro.

I wouldn't use one. They're mostly pointless and silly, and usually very ugly to boot... Thank the Maker they're disabled here. If they weren't I wouldn't be visiting. Ok, maybe that was overreacting, but I really don't see the sense of sigs. Avatar and name says enough. No need to be obnoxious about who you are.

I'm not too fond of sigs as the odd person has a really big one to go with about 2 words of actual post. Since I regularly visit The Escapist on my phone large images slow it down.

Nevertheless I have a sig saved in my profile already:

"Trixadecaphobia - Fear of thenumberthirteen"

Sigs are a problem when people put inflammatory/trollish comments and even when they are in a reasonable mood every time they post, people read that and the discussion goes awry.

but here is what I'd put in my sig;

Monitor Native res: 1440x900
CPU: Core 2 Quad Q9550 = 4x 2.86GHz
RAM: 2x2GB Corsair 800MHz
GPU: Geforce GTX 280
OS: Vista Home Premium 64bit

Signatures mean you have to search through a load of pretentious twaddle to find what is actually relevant to the thread. And generally they make me hate the poster who has decided to use My Chemical Romance lyrics for theirs.
QFT.

I think I'd be cool with it if they were text-only sigs (sort of like GameFAQS) I absolutely hate seeing the same horrible picture over and over again while I'm trying to read a forum.

I'd probably find something that I made and put onto my 50 gb hard drive of all photoshopped things, and turn one of those into a isgnature.

It just makes the forums massively untidy, there a big no no in my books.

Maybe a 1 or 2, but that would be maxiumum. Pictures are the worst.

I probably wouldn't have one since they seem pretty pointless, but if I did I might just have this:

Why does everyone hate sigs? The sig should not be allowed to a large text block or picture. If this was the case they would be fine.

My sig would be Either :

Only dead fish go with the flow.

*One of the 100 000 random proverbs of false wisdom I have made.*

One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.

or

Fear. Fear attracts the fearful? the strong? the weak? the innocent? the corrupt. Fear. Fear is my ally.

or even

Sumus semper in excretum sed alta variant ( Look it up!)

Why not put the sigs to the right of the post, the same way that your avatar and badges are on the left? Keeping images out and limiting the amount of text is probably pretty good too :p

I guess enforcing signatures to be just text is another good idea, that way the UI isn't cluttered with massive flashy images.
