There are still a surprisingly amount of generous, selfless and giving people in the world via the mass amount of money raised for Allison in such a short amount of time.

It's far more preferable to just think you're stupid and risk being wrong than to assume you're a genius and be proven wrong.

If I wanna talk shop about Games; Go the Giant Bomb
If I wanna talk philosophy, politics and nerdy-ish world events; Escapist.

The world is not polar, the people are not polar, the internet is not polar, but the trolls, the trolls are polar.

and: People exist on the internet who don't wish to scream at you whenever an opinion is not shared.

I've learned that the 'gamer and nerd' community is just as judgmental and douche(y) as everyone else, if not more-so

It doesn't matter what you say...
Because if the thing you like is "verboten" or "unpopular", you are wrong and therefore stupid.

That theres a such thing as a friendly place to give your opinions, not to say that there isnt the occasional person who wants to be an jerk or leave a smart ass reply but overall the community is far friendlier and more helpful than say...gamefaqs.

And that I'm not alone. I thought I was the gamer/anime geek with social issues and women problems in the world. Not saying that the escapist is made of of people like that but after reading some of the topics on here especially the relationship ones its good to know that other people are going through the same problems.

... it's that RPG elements are serious business.

We're talking life and death here.
My brother and I suffer from a rare condition that was caused when Bioware began removing RPG elements and features we loved from Dragon Age and Mass Effect. It's called Selloutis.

Sarcasm aside, and on topic, even the Escapist isn't safe from the worst of the internet.

Speak clearly on the internet or else people will think you're being sarcastic. Also, save yourself a lot of trouble and use complete sentences or you'll never hear the end of it from people who have some sort of thing against using chat shorthand.

Prepositions are not for ending sentences with.

I learnt that the moderation of the escapist is HORRIBLE.

I'm just saying that a lot of the time people get warnings for no good reason.

That mods can be dicks.

Bring on the ban!
I learnt that not many people understand the link between the report button and moderation. The mods, being actual people, don't have time to go through threads looking for rule-breakers. And the severity of the wrath is often dependent on how many times the post was reported.

I also learned that the best way to find nice people is to join groups and start talking.
That's still very poor moderation. Perhaps more mods should be hired if that's the excuse?

It doesn't matter. Your effective counter argument is that they're human. Almost like this excuses them from the responsibility of their job.

EDIT: Also I was mainly targeting this at the poor moderation on anything ad blocking related. On which the mods have proven themselves to be dicks.
