If the Escapist was a city?

It would be the wierdest city ever since some people would walk down the streen completely hidden behind large avatars for example a huge kitten.

Actually I'd imagine everyone being their avatars and what not, but it would be awkward for some who have no avatar.

I would be A Games Journalist then...sweet I like this city.

Back to the topic. Im thinking of Golden statues of all the Mods Surrounding A central government building where some of our elected officials resign...and a fountain a big one.

It would be a city, where Flame Wars would be instantly killed by Mod's dressed in firefighter outfits. The streets would be cemented with The Game and candy. However, once a year, during MM it would turn into absolute mayhem. I've seen things said by people that were recently kind and the minute Zynga won, all hell broke loose and we lost the way.

We'd be a fairly small city. Tight community and a majority educated. The mods would be the police force and we would call being throw in jail "getting banhammered". We'd have some amazing community video game tourneys. Good natured pranks would be frequent and March would leave a good proportion of us incredibly angry. Nerds would run rampant in the schools and "A history of classic consoles would be a mandatory course. Game Developers would make up the highest percentage of job occupation/ Our community center would have "Relationship problems support" and a"Dating councillor." The police would give out badges for performing various small acts and we'd dread the possibility of Detroit(4chan) moving in on our city.

It would be amazing.

There would be the giant commercial section where all of the videos and articles are produced. The gleaming up-state area of the Gone Gonzos, and then the slums of those who hang around the site, know a lot of names, but never post anything so they aren't known at all.

Slums wouldn't be too bad though, at least its less likely we would get jacked-up by Sauron.

While I agree, every good city has a Sauron, I think Max would be better suited for the role of Fontain, from Bioshock. He was kind of a renegade [small](not in the dreamy, "oh he's such a badass" way)[/small] and banished from this place, but I get the feeling we're gonna see him again.

... And yeah, I think the Escapist would be like Rapture... except I thought it would be better in space IN SPAAAAAAAAACE.

I have the feeling that everybody would get along pretty well. It would be smart and a privilage to be in( as long as we avoided any talk of religion bashing, I dont cope well).

I have the feeling this cult I hear talk of, The wordsmith group that Furb and Hubly are a part of, would actually secretly control this city. It would be led of course by the mods and all, but this cult-like existence would secretly remain in power. Though the methods are cruel, the greater good remains. That is until I reach 6,000 posts (I believe?) and dicover the deeper darker secrets of this group, and find out this city may be in more trouble than anyone could ever imagine....

The Politics and Religion thread would be the upper class part of town. MM would be the ghettos where all the shootings, drug trafficing and etc takes place, Gaming discussion would be like the school district(as this is where people start out on the forum), Off topic then being the work area (as this is where people do to when sick of gaming discussion) and Finally the Forum games and RP section is the retirement home of the escapist. This is where all the forum users go when they too hold and can't keep up with the new whippersnappers on the forums. Also the user groups are the night clubs and other social areas like bars.

Mods and famous members would live in the upper class bit and have Quails eggs for tea.
There'd be little graffiti, someone would always be stood there with a paintbrush in hand.
