If their was a video game Olympics, what kind of events would there be?

If somehow video games became mainstream and respected enough to warrant an official Olympics for it, what kind of events and challenges do you think would test the best of the best? Would you think you would be able to enter and go for the gold?

I came up with 4...

1.) beat Ghost and Goblins without getting hit once ( I can't even get past fucking level 3!)

2.) Own the hardest boss in a Dragon Quest Game ( There is a difference between defeat and own. simply luck can't be a factor. You have to overpower it and flat out make it your birch, not just get by because it refused to use it's strongest attacks.

3.) Beat I wanna be that guy ( 'Nough said...)

4.)Beat The Original Ninja Gaiden... without getting hit ( Thats not hard, thats impossible?)

What have you all come up with?

They'd mainly be point matches. Rhythm, Rail-Shooting, and Quicktime Event games would be most compatible as they deal with one skill at a time; Pace, Aim, and Reaction.

Get some Dragon's Lair or Robot Unicorn Attack like games for Reaction, Starfox or Arcade-Style-Shooter type games for Aim, and DDR and Guitar Hero like games for Pace.

I would opt not to use those game specifically, because they add in a lot of extra stuff to appeal to different types of players (like story and character, two things not necessary at an Olympic Game). Just copy the core gameplay and improve upon them in order to accent the skill set required.

Well, marathon gaming would probably be on the list as well. Just pick any game and you have to play it for a longer amount of time than your competitors without the use of any sort of stimulant (i.e. sodas, energy drinks, etc).

well as for olympic events in gaming i reckon i can come up with a few...

set up three different prototype games and which ever person can kill 500 hunters or nearest without consuming them or any soldiers civilians etc etc etc.. wins before they die

get super smash bros on the wii... only using wii motes and pit each player to fight like 3 of the hardest chacters on the hardest difficulty without usin final smashes or health pack and no items

get 2 sets of 2 people playing gears of war one on hardcore dificulty only being able to pick up one ammo crate a player per level and see which team can beat the game first on co-op.

or see who can get the most headshots in halo 3 only killing brutes, only with a sniper rifle or beam rifle through out the game only being able to pick up ammo every second level

or see who can score 250 million with only 5 laps during a drift gp on GRID with traction control off.

Add wii stamping, longest time for 50-decibel screaming and cheeto-eating and we might be on to something!

If only the PS3 controller was still shaped like a Boomerang.

You'll get better distance with the Wii-mote. Those things are practically designed to be thrown, so much so that people do it without even realizing it.

Anyway, it'd be cool if they had a real match of Oddball, without the guns of course. That I would love to see.

Compared to the likes of Grand Prix Legends, GRID would find itself far from appropriate for a gaming Olympics. Don't get me wrong: It's fun, but anybody who can even beat a single race against the AI on Grand Prix Legends is superhuman.

true but then again gettin 250 million points in 5 laps with traction control off would be kinda hard especially when ur car is even harder to control lol
