i dont like retcons
so no serenity was awesome
and even if they do reset they cant get most of them back

i just want them to green light SOMETHING new for firefly
i checked the only characters that can come back are Zoe, Kaylhee, Simon, and debatably river (she was on the terminator show which might come back though i honestly hope not)
and you can make a great show out of that
What about Mal and Jayne. I know the guy who's playing Mal is in Castle but do you honestly see that going on for much longer? Murder she wrote ripoff.
Nathan Fillion is doing another season of Castle (which is surprisingly entertaining if you just switch your brain off) and Adam Baldwin is doing season 4 of Chuck. This means both of them are pretty much unavailable for another year. Also, Castle was pulling down ratings in the 10 million mark so it will probably keep going for a while.

Back on topic, I hope it doesn't get ressurected. I'm a big fan, but Serenity was a great send off and both Futurama and Family Guy have been no-where near their previous standard since their revival.

I don't think I would care. There are many moresci-fi series's out there. Plus if it got released again, it wouldn't be nearly as "cool" or "indie" to like it so much

Nathan'd come back - as fun as Castle is, he's pretty damn loyal as a Browncoat. If it went ahead, I think the cast playing 'living' characters would return. Besides, they could always slate Tudyk and Glass for "flashback" scenes or hallucinations. It's possible.

I'd totally watch it. One of the Brisbane Browncoats am I!

Wow, I completely missed the "If" part of your title.

I'm now a sad panda.
You weren't the only one.

Honestly I have no idea, as much as I love the movie I don't know if I would want them to bring the show back with so many of the main cast dead.

I've never understood how rampant fanboys need everything to be canon. For example they demanded a reason why in, Star Trek TOS the klingons don't have ridges on their heads. And wouldn't accept "because obviously the show had no budget and we hadn't thought of the idea." I am willing to ignore any cannon for the benefit of the series, that's why I ignore the events after the movies in Star Wars [/troll] (but seriously I it do just to make that victory more final and meaningful). I would ignore Serenity in a heartbeat if it meant a new series of the greatest sci fi show of our generation.

Didnt he always say that if Firefly was brought back that Serenity would be de cannoned.
If that's true, then I hadn't heard that and it makes my whole thread irrelevant. I'm glad Joss is on the same page as me then realizing that Serenity screwed up the show for future episodes and would need to be stricken from the record in order for the show we all loved to continue.

@dathwampeer Chuck is a lot of fun and totally a nerd show. Don't go into it expecting something deep and you will be pleasantly surprised how entertaining it can be. And Adam Baldwin is pretty much a real-life Brock Samson in the show.

I wouldn't be willing to forget Serenity. Because I hate it when shows/films do this kind of thing and Firefly is better than that.

...would you be willing to ignore Serenity as canon for the series?

I was thinking about the recent Joss Whedon [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/102351-Joss-Whedon-Is-Still-Bitter-About-Firefly] interview and it got me thinking about other Fox canceled shows like Family Guy and Futurama. Firefly got lucky enough to finish their story, but the time-frame that it supposedly took place in seemed rather close to the show, so I don't know how well they could just insert some adventures for the crew before Serenity's events. Also, if they handled it that way, you still would know what the big secret plot is after the new adventures are all said and done, thus ruining any further suspense and mystery in the show.

I'm also afraid that the show wouldn't be the same if it didn't have all of it's actors in place. If Joss were allowed to hit the reset button on that arc of the story, he would be allowed to keep everyone exactly where they left off when that bounty hunter struck in the final episode of the show. From that point on, I could see the show getting far more interesting than what was left of loose ends at the end of Serenity.
Joss Whedon cares about continuity enough that anything he does outside TV shows, like the Buffy Season Eight comics or the Serenity: After They Left comic series, all count as canon. So Whedon would simply fit any new episodes after Serenity, which sadly would mean no Book or Wash (those aren't in spoilers because any Browncoat here would have almost certainly already seen Serenity). The time frame between Firefly and Serenity is accounted for by all the comics, with an upcoming pair of series planned to give details about Wash before joining the crew and about Book's early days (finally, some insight on the 'good' Shephard's backstory!).

So yeah, Whedon would never commit Serenity to the reboot button. He cares too much about continuity to do so. And I personally think that without Book or Wash, it would still be good, it would add an interesting character development arc (especially for Kaylee, who was probably closest to Book on the ship, and Zoe, being Wash's widow...) for the characters.

And besides, it's irrelevant. Any true Browncoat would never allow Serenity to be confined to Rebootsville. Serenity happened, and that's all there is to it. If you're a true Browncoat then you consider it canon, and that's final. That's all there is to it...

I reckon they could pull a DMC2 and say that Serenity is set later on in the timeline.

However yes if it did come to that I would ignore Serenity... it was good but Firefly was better.
That would still wreck any intrigue. You know whats going to happen, everyone has to be alive and a few other things can't be changed. I think the series would just have to happen after. Maybe a few episodes here and there of adventures in between, but cutting it out would just be annoying. They'd either have to ignore the reavers, come up with something new that still fit the hints, or just retell us about them.
Plus it could lead to interesting things, what with everything that happened.

I don't think a new season of Firefly would work. Even if everyone came back, cast and crew, it just wouldn't be the same as the original series. They would try to change as little as possible, but something would change that would make it.....not...better. Perfect example is Family Guy. The first three seasons were great. Then the movie. Then it was brought back and just became mundane humour lost on anyone that isn't in touch with all the popular pop culture bollocks.

Yeah, because Whedon killed off Wash.

Damn you, and your habit to kill of the best characters.

Most definitely not. Serenity was awesome and if it got ignored, that would be a pretty dumb move.

well he may have loved his time on the show and he may be loyal but you cant just leave a TV show thats doing OK if your its lead character
everything would fall apart
honestly if they are planning something new for firefly i hope castle falls through
i also hope that the upcoming show "cape" falls through because Summer Glau is set to be a regular on it (dont ask me what it is im just going by her IMDB page)

They never sorted out that two men with blue hands thing in the series. Also they could make a series after Serenity with a minimal Alliance but a higher Reaver threat?

Who knows were else there could be Reavers hiding after the events of Serenity. Or small groups of remaining Alliance members
