If WoW is so good, than should other MMORPGs exist?

All the games competing with WoW have their own charm. WoW isn't the best, it's the best average. Horizons does better for crafting, Guild Wars has much better character customization, Everquest 1 is renown for it's longevity and support (it's on its what, 14 expansions with a 15th in the works), and so on.
And Final Fantasy XI is best at screwing over its clientbase.

It's like saying that all platform games are obsolete because Mario 64 was the best game ever, and that a better game will never be made.

That's just stupid. Besides, forming a consensus about which game is best is useless, since all ppl have different taste.

it depends on what you want. Even though every one is filled with the "Yahtzee quote" grind sandwich.

Read the sentence above over agian.
I have never heard anyone say that. And no. By the way, "some" are not "everyone".

Well, WoW for being so good doesn't give the right to anyone to say other MMORPGs shouldn't exist or should not be played or something... That's just retarded :/ I mean, there are always (and always will be) people that don't like something about WoW, or any other game that they say for "is the best gaem evarr" and that all you need to satisfy your gaming needs are right in that game. That's pure dog poo. They cannot tell you what you can or can't like, nor guarantee you that that (lol) game will never get you bored, or that you will definitely like it... Everyone has different tastes and opinions... I think that WoW is never going to be liked by EVERY single MMORPG fan...

No, it is not right for people to claim other MMORPGs to exist.

If only WoW existed, they would just make it shitty and bug-ridden and not care because there's no competition! If you don't like it, you just can't play MMORPGs at all!

Plus, if there was no other MMORPG, there would be no Warhammer Online, which is what WoW will be ripping off from now on (because all Warcraft is is a rip-off of Warhammer).

Honestly unless the people are 15 or new to MMO's they should be slaped and hard!, Honestly same thing happened with EQ(My first MMO and last love) back in the day and you can bet it will happen again when World of Starcraft comes out. Or super awesome hardcore life sim MMO in Virtual Reality 3002 comes out.

So it comes to, Is it right? and yes it is right because as a wise person once told me, "People are dumb, A person is smart" and as MMO's involve people then we know people are dumb and allowed to be wrong in there statements.

Star Wars Galaxies begs to differ.

There is certainly an opening for some variety so there are mmorpgs about different things out there for opeople to buy and play but it's also important to consider loyalty and competition in the market. WoW was, in gamer terms, Teh epic w1n for Blizzard. Do you think that anyone wants to go up against a juggernaut like that directly or even indirectly? The truth is that they control so much of the market they've scared off all bu the bravest (or stupidest) game manufacturers from coming out with a game that would compete.

Just my two cents..

I'm not so sure, recently I saw that Star Wars retrospective about Galaxies and it sounds like the userbase there was ultimately FAR more pissed off than any I'd ever seen before. They fundamentally changed the game at its core and just threw out a HUGE portion of the character development model.

Mind you, I always thought that the game was stupid because you couldn't just be a jedi from the get go... I understood what they were going for in terms of the "realistic" aspect of becoming a jedi in that universe. However, that "realism" just didn't mesh well with consumerism. Basically, people buy a game about Star Wars, they are going to be pissed if there are jedi and they can't be one relatively easily...

Many people play and love WoW, i'm not one of them but there's no proving it's not popular. I think that some people have serious problems with the amount of time they put into playing that game though, but then again who am I to say they shouldnt be playing it?

I think there should of course be other MMORPGs on the market, the theme that Warcraft has had since it's inception (and countless other brands share) is incredibly old and somewhat boring now that everyone is doing it. There should be different types of MMORPGs, not just more and more WoW clones.

This is almost like asking why doesn't no one else favour the cookie you do.

Oh and F.Y.I Lineage 2 has 14 million subscribers, WoW has 10 million. I'd said this...isn't a tie.

WoW is good but there are other great MMOs that are free and small but uber nice like zu, airrivals, silkroad etc. but my point is MMOs should exist

MMOGs are pretty much just virtual chat rooms with swords and level treadmills. So it is really hard for one to actually be "better" than another. WoW is good because it has a large subscriber base (read: community). To all intent and purpose, any MMOG can be just as good depending on how many people you want in your clique, and what color you want to paint your treadmill; granted, however, some are pretty much below par.

Saying or even implying someone should play a "better" game in any context is entirely baseless and utterly retarded. I wouldn't mind a decent MMOG to kill some time with but I find absolutely no appeal in WoW at all so, why would I play it? Same reason I don't/have never played Counter-Strike: because I think its stupid and there is nothing about it which appeals to me, I could care less how many other people enjoy it and think its awesome.

Well, alternatives are always good.

But if you aren't doing anything differently from your competition, you might as well not make your game. Warhammer Online seems like a pointless endeavour for this reason: it seems fully content in just being the same WoW is but with the actual IP behind it.

No, WoW is indeed the best MMORPG (IMO) but it doesn't mean people shouldn't play other PC games, nor does it give people right to tell other people how to spend their money.

I had WoW, got a char to 70 and then ended my subscription, though I am planning to renew it to play Wrath of the Lich King.
