If WoW would shut down what would you do on the last day?

So if you have probably heard an MMO called Star Wars galaxy shut down this month after many years of being online. I never played it but saw many of the last days videos people made. It was kind of a sad thing to see. This did get me thinking though. What if the biggest MMO in the history of mankind were to shutdown what would its players do on the last day?

Looting! Riots in the streets! Chaos! (in the WoW world.)

Though this does give me a cool idea. What if there was some, like, ultimate final boss? A hugely powerful one that everyone on WoW had to team up to beat, or else the whole game would be shut down? That'd be neat.

As soon as I heard the news I'd likely stop playing =3. Would bother with it if it was all going to be lost anyway... Not that I actually play it X3.

Get banned. Seriously. Why fade away when you could burn out, leave an impact. This won't go on some criminal record, it won't go on a resume, it won't keep me from going to school. It just... happens. So why not?

Maybe rerun my favourite instance.
Revisit my favourite locations.
Take an insane number of screenshots.

I don't play WoW at the moment, but if it was the final day of any of the MMOs I do play that's what I'd do.

Oh, and this thread reminded me my free 7 day return code expires in 2 days...

*runs to reinstall*

No, but if you used other Blizzard (also know as battle.net) services it goes against your account permanently. That means no more Diablo or Starcraft among other things.

For example a fair few months after I stopped playing WoW I was logging on to play Starcraft 2 and I found my account had been banned, turns out that my WoW account had been hacked and they were hacking with it (flying through land to get ores, etc). It was rectified that day, I just find it hilarious because to get access to my WoW account they would have needed to PAY FOR MY SUBSCRIPTION. I wonder if they made their money back on that little venture.

I would be quite glad. I'm currently stuck with it til next October because I dived in and bought the annual pass. When I bought it, I still had my crappy laptop that just barely ran WoW on low settings (10 FPS on a good day with no other players around, grinding to a mere 5 in Stormwind and Orgrimmar). Then, for Christmas, I got enough money to add to my savings to buy a brand new computer and lots of new games. This has made WoW seem so boring in comparison to all of these other PC games I can now play.

So, on WoW's last day, I'd probably get the Facebook/phone number/whatever of the guildies I like (if I haven't already got them) then immediately uninstall it from my PC. It'd be nice.

What is your avatar from? It looks like pony is tripping hard on DMT
Dude. That's an actual clip from an episode. It's from "Party of One" where Pinkie Pie depressed/crazy because she thinks her friends hate her so she has a party with a load of inanimate objects. It's just as creepy as it looks.

Uhm... I'd probably uninstall it?

And, I'd guess that SWG shut down because of TOR being released. The problem with MMOs is why play the old one, when the new one has come along?

I would do a happy dance. *snickers*

In all seriousness, I used to play WoW a lot. I came back to it more than once, actually. But I was driven away several times, and it all came back to the fact that the game is just not paced for casual gamers like myself. Now when I say "casual" I don't mean stuff like Pop Cap games or stuff like Plants vs. Zombies. I mean I will play an individual game for maybe two or three hours before going on to either play a different game or do something else completely (read a book, watch a movie, go for a walk, etc.)

Warcraft has, in the last 2-3 years, become so frantically paced with its release of new content it's virtually impossible for new or returning players to get caught up if they're starting from scratch and don't intend to play for more than 2-3 hours each day on average. For me, that's a game killer right there, 'cause I want to feel like I'm a part of the ongoing story, not just playing through the content that a million other players have already played through.

Warcraft was fun to play, but it's entertainment value wore thin when I felt pressured to push forward before Blizzard released another damn patch or expansion that had a huge plot twist that would be spoiled by other people before I could get to it. So if this game were to go down permanently, I'd be pleased for two reasons. First, it would give other game developers a better chance to develop a decent player base for their own MMO (no longer having to compete with WoW). Second, it would encourage developers not to make the same mistakes WoW did. Oh some may say WoW hasn't made any mistakes, but I think it has; dumbing down its interface and difficulty to the point there's virtually no challenge to it, rushing new content out to cater to the fanatical 20-hour-a-day players and continuing to charge an asinine $15 a month for a subscription.

Dance in front of npcs, knowing that they will perish soon. Then, I'd run to the biggest, baddest dungeon around and go Leroy Jenkins on their ass.
