I would do a happy dance. *snickers*
In all seriousness, I used to play WoW a lot. I came back to it more than once, actually. But I was driven away several times, and it all came back to the fact that the game is just not paced for casual gamers like myself. Now when I say "casual" I don't mean stuff like Pop Cap games or stuff like Plants vs. Zombies. I mean I will play an individual game for maybe two or three hours before going on to either play a different game or do something else completely (read a book, watch a movie, go for a walk, etc.)
Warcraft has, in the last 2-3 years, become so frantically paced with its release of new content it's virtually impossible for new or returning players to get caught up if they're starting from scratch and don't intend to play for more than 2-3 hours each day on average. For me, that's a game killer right there, 'cause I want to feel like I'm a part of the ongoing story, not just playing through the content that a million other players have already played through.
Warcraft was fun to play, but it's entertainment value wore thin when I felt pressured to push forward before Blizzard released another damn patch or expansion that had a huge plot twist that would be spoiled by other people before I could get to it. So if this game were to go down permanently, I'd be pleased for two reasons. First, it would give other game developers a better chance to develop a decent player base for their own MMO (no longer having to compete with WoW). Second, it would encourage developers not to make the same mistakes WoW did. Oh some may say WoW hasn't made any mistakes, but I think it has; dumbing down its interface and difficulty to the point there's virtually no challenge to it, rushing new content out to cater to the fanatical 20-hour-a-day players and continuing to charge an asinine $15 a month for a subscription.
