They did not ship multiplayer with the PC version, but they did with the 360 and PS3 versions.
Their excuse for this really didn't make sense, but either way we as fans want to demonstrate to the developers and publisher that MP is important to us; If enough sign they may reconsider whether it's worth enabling in an update.

You can't count on that. If we don't demonstrate in a clear way, such as a very large petition, they are likely to dismiss the whole thing as not having enough interest to justify an update.
We need to show them that there is a community out there who wants it.

And PC's have been getting the shaft in favor of consoles for years now, this is nothing new.
ALthough it's pretty degrading to the PC when the father of multiplayer gaming, and still the best platform for multiplayer gaming, can't get MP for a game where it really excels in.

It would be like releasing L4D on consoles with multiplayer support. Sure, the PC AI is competent, but you're missing out on so much more.

Online petitions make good punchlines, but the truth is that they do have impact on games as representations and focusing points of community feelings toward a subject. In that sense they have had influence on changing the course of games in some ways.

We can ***** on forums, but if enough people punctuate their feelings in a formal petition or tracking list (like the anti-LF4D2 steam friends group) then it grabs the developer's attention in a much more tangible and forceful way, because then they can no longer dismiss it as the ramblings of random forum whiners; But are forced to face the reality that a huge segment of the community feels this way.

No they don't. Boycott groups like the one from L4D2 represent better the frustration of a part of the community.

Even one angry letter has more meaning than an online petition.

You admit that letters do impact them. A petition does for the same reasons because it is a large compilation of everything signing the same letter.
But, by all means, send them an angry letter too if you want. A uniform petition just makes it easier for people who don't want to draft a personal letter themselves.

No it won't. First its an online petition. You can make thousand different emails and names and pass off for thousands of peoples signed a petition.

If you want something done you stand your ground like a proper man. Go to their headquarters and protest don't hide behind the internet.

Go Braveheart on their asses don't lame out on online petitions, cause they simply don't work.

If a thousand people took the time to make a thousand different emails then they obviously have very dedicated fans and should rethink their commitment to them.

Although it's clear you're just trolling with your suggestion that everyone should just fly to their headquarters instead of make a valid petition expressing their views in a coordinated way.

It's good to have pros and cons to each system/platform, that would be the point of having a system. *menacing glare*

It's pretty much guaranteed there will be a multiplayer update with the amount of backlash going on, though it is a single-player focused game so I don't see why it matters. Consoles finally get something over PC and you all start complaining.
Consoles get exclusives over PCs all the time. PC has no one looking out for its interests so its lucky to get any of the extras.

But co-op/multiplayer is a big feature to leave out. If they made the PC version cheaper because theyve cut co-op then yeah that would be ok.. I think because its an average game people want a bit more out of it.

Online Petitions don't work sorry. Theres almost no cases of online petitions that worked, and in the most famous case the "Bring back Farscape", the online petition hold almost no ground whatsoever bringing back the show. They never did for the simply fact that they aren't reliable source of real people. And if you think they work you a very gullible person.

And I said that one person can make thousands of email and names, not thousand of peoples.

Want Multiplayer in Ghostbusters on the PC? Stop fooling yourself with an online petition and start rallying people into writing letters.

Cause you know letters can actually be traced and confirmed to be real, unlike names on the internet.

Believe that letters are still the best form of basic protest. The internet is the WORST place for performing protest, for the fact that most of the time its impossible to comfirm that theres actually that many people protesting.

Companies will never take online petitions seriuosly cause they can be rigged and they are.

Threewave CEO Dan Irish said:
Multiplayer for the PC version of Ghostbusters is something that Threewave and Terminal Reality always wanted to do. However, our focus was on making the console version the best that they could be - an experience that allows multiple players to re-live and re-fight many of the themes from the movies. When we looked at the resources necessary to pull off multiplayer on the consoles and the PC, it became a question of what could we do and still be excellent in our execution. We couldn't do all versions with multiplayer simultaneously with the resources that we had available - there was simply too much to do. Something would have to suffer. Therefore, we kept our focus on making the console versions deliver on the promise of being an integral player on the Ghostbusters team.
The PC version of Ghostbusters is something that my friends and I have always wanted to play. However, our focus is on ensuring that each of us has the most fun possible when we play together - that is, having multiple players re-live and re-fight many of the themes from the movies. When we looked at the conspicuous absence of multiplayer functionality in the PC version of Ghostbusters, it became a question of what could we make do with and still have fun. All of us can't play simultaneously with the resources that we have available - there's simply too little to do. Something would have to suffer. Therefore, we'll keep our focus on playing Team Fortress 2.

Games are changed all the time according to online community feedback. This petition is just one way of expressing ourselves in a singular way to show that it's not just random people on random forums who are upset, but it's a systemic discontent with the lack of multiplayer among the PC community.

There's absolutely nothing to lose by signing the petition, and absolutely nothing to gain by remaining silent.

Send them cases of nuts. It worked to get Jericho back on the air long enough to finish it.

You assume they have a choice.

You do realise whatever they say that it was most likely a publisher decision that got multiplayer removed from the PC version?

And listen to people when they tell you online petitions don't work a good 99% of the time. To not listen is arrogance, to not listen to fact is ignorance.
