The title's a quote from Death Note, and not meant to be insulting to anyone - similarly, if you came here in the hope of a Death Note thread, I'm sorry to disappoint you. :)

We've all had games that we could never finish for one reason or another, be that it was too difficult or you got bored of it, or got distracted from it.

So what I want to know is, what games have been like this for you? Why?
Do you even bother completing any games?

I still haven't brought myself to finish GTA4, not because I didn't like it (I did), but I got distracted by my new (and painfully time-consuming) love for the Final Fantasy series.

So, take it away escapists!

Final Fantasy.

Tried 2 of them, got bored very fast and got buyer's remorse.

I really, really don't get JRPGs.

Overlord 2.
Once I got to that stupid boat stage I left it and haven't come back since.

Really? Which two?

It takes a while to get into some of them.

FFX-2: It is the ONLY game I have never started and not finished. The reason I hated it was because of a) The battle-system and b)The dresssphere stuff. I could deal with the colossal change in story-depth and character development from FFX but not the battle-system and dressphere.

Ninja Gaiden 2, on the warrior difficulty, I was at the last boss, but I made a stupid and wasted my money, so i had to take on three bosses with almost no healing. I made it to the last one multiple times, couldn't beat it.

Or GTA 4, I got bored of it. I started playing a bit more recently though, so who knows.

FFIVDS would be a fair assumption. I don't quite remember the original being so aggravating.

I've not completed a few games, namely anything with the words Grand Theft Auto stamped on them.

One was Final Fantasy vII chrono trigger on the PSP

The other was the one with that annoying whiney blonde jock as the main character, he played some form of air football in between being irritating and spouting atrocious dialogue.

I think it was 10 or 11.

Played it for 4-5 hours before finally admitting to myself that I hated it.

Overlord 2, just because I got a bit bored of it
Ninja Gaiden 2, simply because it is ridiculously hard

There's a few:
Spider-Man: Web of Shadows
Dragon Quest V
Star Ocean: First Departure
Persona 3
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3
Sonic Heroes (damn those special stages)
Destroy All Humans
Final Fantasy IV
Final Fantasy X
...that's all I can think of right now.

Yup that's 10. :D
And I believe that's Tidus you're referring to - possibly one of the least likable FF characters ever.

But if you can see past the horrible dialogue, it's got one of the best storylines out of all the Final Fantasy games.

Oh.......wow.

Maybe a list of the games you DID finish would be shorter. :D

I tried to hard to like the modern Alone in the Dark. I tried, but I got tired of the game repeatedly throwing nigh-unavoidable insta-death environmental hazards at me every other second; I stopped at the bit where there's electrified water on the ground that will instantly kill you on contact, and it's very easy to accidentally run into the stuff and have to restart the whole segment. Could have been a good game. It really could. Shame.

I haven't gotten past The Strip on Rainbow Six Vegas yet. It's strange, because I really love everything about the game, especially the multiplayer. I just...don't play the campaign much.

Shining Force EXA, never finished it just because everything was going fine until the difficulty ramped up an insane degree on the last couple levels and I got stuck on one part that I couldn't get out of.

Jak 2. I didn't beat it when I was about 7 because I sucked, and now it's sold so I don't havethre option to play it.
