Different starter types (really you get your pick at any start pokemon, but it would be in reason [i.e. you want a rattata, go for it; you want an eevee, why the fuck not; of course I'll give you a trubbish as a starter you lucky dog you]). Or atleast not make the next fire starter fire/fighting (its been decided, you cant outdo blaziken with speed boost, im sorry, you lose, good day sir).

all the pokemon in one region.

some new evolutions, including one for banette, one for each type still remaining for eevee (including a level up normal).

different gym leaders with some varied pokemon.

can choose where you start (and then the gyms would scale to what youre progress is).

Oh, and a new remake of R/S.

....

yeah,t hats probably about it. standard fare really. I dont mind the way pokemon is now, i understand why it is, and i still enjoy it. I dont get the argument for it should change either, just cause there ARE games that do what people are asking, they're just not pokemon, and they dont need to be.

It was a long time ago, but I already made a thread about what kind of changes I'd like to have made to the Pokemon series here:

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.285082-Pokemon-needs-to-stop-being-afraid-of-innovation#11235472

Really though, out of all that the story and the combat are the things I really like to change. Pokemon got old a LONG time ago, and I'd like to be able to enjoy it again.

There would be no Pokemon that are distinctly better than other final evolutions unless they have a massive drawback as well to balance it out, Team Whatever would have an actual motive, there would be more individual NPCs (none of this 'every cyclist in the world is a clone' bullshit), I'd get rid of one of the personalities or traits categories and make the remaining one more important (e.g. exclusive moves for frisky or lax Pokemon), I'd cut out all the naive BS people say (they can say nice things without sounding like school children), once you'd beaten the Elite Four you would receive challenges from generated trainers now and again and you'd be able to fight the Elite Four and previous Champion without having to go through the whole damn thing, Team Whatever remnants would trigger a subplot after the main story has been completed, some kind of system where you can target certain Pokemon in the wild by reading their Pokedex entry and using your intuition would be implemented (e.g. if an entry says it travels by swinging around in trees, the Pokemon would be more common near forest/grass boundaries), wild Pokemon would have small variations such as longer hair in certain areas or different markings, I'd do away with f***ing Cut and Flash and all the useless moves, I'd have a flexible in-game trading system where you can trade Pokemon you have for those of NPCs, dynamic weather, you'd have a selection of cities to start in, and Gym Leaders would scale in difficulty as your Pokemon levelled up past their level range, and be rechallengable. As far as I'm concerned, all that grinding can take a long walk off a short wharf. And you'd be able to customise your character's appearance.

I'm assuming I have infinite money here?

<spoiler=First idea>Make a pokemon game titled "Pokemon" that had the most simplistic box art ever, it would just be a white box with Pokemon on the front of it in black font. This game would include every region ever, gym battle, encounter, etc. It would be tailored to fit the greater game--so encounters would have to be modified a bit, as well as story--but the game would be a bit different.
You pick what region you start in, and go through that region like any other pokemon. After you beat the final gym, you go fight in a new competition called the regional qualifiers. After you beat the regional champion, you can now go to other regions and challenge the trainers there.
Once you leave your region, the next region you go to scales off of the regionals, so if the regional champion was lvl 45-50, the first trainer you meet will be lvl 50 across the board. That region would be the same as the first region, but with the level disparity added. Wild pokemon and trainers are tougher, gyms are tougher, etc. The same thing would happen as before, you defeat the final gym and go to fight the regional championship there.
The second regional championship would be much more difficult than the first one was (lvl 70-80 range or something), and the leaders much more intelligent. After you beat this second regional championship, you can go on to the third region. Once again, everything has scaled to your current level (or supposed level, not sure how to make that work effectively and fairly) to be harder. Beat the leaders there, challenge the regional championship, and go to region #4, where everything is lvl 100 probably.

All the regions would have their respective generation specific pokemon. Quirks like weather effects and events would be introduced to all regions once you visited the region that introduced each quirk (like weather effects in generation 3).
A final Inter-regional championship would occur after defeating the last region's regional championship, and would comprise of a set of new elite trainers; 8 of them to be exact. 2 would be double battles, 1 would be a triple battle, 1 would be a rotation battle, and the rest would be single 1v1 battles, and each fight would be designed to be as hard as possible. You are allowed to heal and restore your team in between encounters, but you cannot change your team, and the types are designed so you cannot create a team to faceroll everything (like all elite 4's have been up to this point). The final encounter has you going against a trainer with legendaries that have gone through EV training, so they are as strong as possible. Once you defeat this battle, you have beaten the game and are declared the best pokemon trainer in the world of Pokemon.

It would be awesome.
<spoiler=Second idea>Pokemon MMO. I don't know how it would work, but I would make it work

Sooo ... Call of duty ... With pokemon?

OT : i'm making a pokemon MMO .

Same rules as pokemon . Same stats and characteristics and nature . Lvl 1-20 is red/blue/yellow , level 20-40 is silver/gold/crystal , lvl 40-60 is ruby/saphire/emeral , level 60-80 is pearl/diamond/platinum , lvl 80-99 is black/white . End game is a battle tower with pokemon who are leveled 100-150 , and there are double and triple batles where you can go with a friend or two. Everyone in the world can challenge who they want ( assuming you accept) and there is a legendary or no legendary battles ( so you don't have to worry about people using legendaries if you don't want/have any) .
So your game is just all the pokemon games together? Coooool dude...

...

Also explain how my game is Call of Duty other than the word "war".

-Full trainer customization, like Pokemon Battle Revolution.
-No more god damned event Pokemon.
-Full fledged MMO. I'm still waiting Nintendo. Make this happen.
-Kill Flash, defog, and any other move that removes the obstacle of not being able to see anything. That's a crappy obstacle, and it requires sacrificing a pokemon as an HM slave.

Not only did he get 10, one of them is a companion cube.

OT: I just want a game that lets me go to all the regions and see what my protagonists have accomplished.

Ash would no longer be the main character, but is now the pokemon champion

Some other kid starts his pokemon journey and aspires to beat ash

(the series is in desperate need of a reboot of some sort)

Where do I begin?

1: Bring back every Pokemon, than eliminate a significant portion, than introduce evolution paths.
2: Increase difficulty dramatically.
--------------------------------------------
2a: Pokemon owned by Trainers scale in level.
2b: Pokemon "moves" capacity increased to 6.
2c: Damage dealt from exploiting weaknesses significantly decreased.
2d: Battles consist of using all 6 Pokemon at once on a isometric battlefield with terrain buffs/debuffs and friendly fire for AoE damage/healing.
--------------------------------------------
3: Better, longer, and more complex stories that children can still grasp well enough.
4: Online capable, duh.

Edit: Oh yeah, no more of that multiple version crap. You can get every Pokemon on one cart without having to trade between versions or having to evolve a Pokemon via trade.

No I haven't forgotten, I just miss when the rivals in the games were assholes. Now they are all nice.

No, we must do this pokemon style or not at all:

*BOOM headshot uses "Detect ulterier motive" on Solo-wing*
*Its super Effective!*
*Solo-wings Plans have been foiled!*
*Solo-wing is forced to flee.*
*BOOM headshot is victorious.*

The game continues as normal, but when you get to the final gym leader you are given three choices:
1. Synthesis Pokemons with Humans
2. Control Pokemons
3. Destroy Pokemons

And then the gym centre explodes and the rival runs away from the explosion, fruitlessly.

You are a pokemon. The first in your evolutionary line. You roll a dice to pick where you start, from there, you pick your pokemon (i.e. if you're picked at an ice place, you'll probably be an ice type) you can re-roll four times, on your fifth time, you have the option to go back to the fourth, and choose between the lesser of two evils to pick where you start off.

I'd be a zubat, become a crobat and just fly and fuck errything up.

btw, 3d environment, multiplatform. unf. mmorpg, kind of thing.

if you give 20 bucks to me, you can be a legendary or something. That's how mmo's work these days, amirite?

all of these ideas are either terrible or well intention-ed but flawed.

I wouldn't change anything besides giving some pokemon abilities that are more useful. That and make the global link actually useful. there are way to many people asking for lvl 9 legendaries for a level 1 snivy.
