Francis from Left 4 Dead. Just a badass dude who hates everything but vests. I'm a lot like him anyway... except for the vest thing.

1)Commander Shepard: In mine he is the ultimate hero, faced died, came back, and got all the girls, he is all that is man!

2)Master Chief: He is damn near the ultimate weapon, best at what he does, damn near the last of his kind, and the only man standing between humanity and oblivion. He is a big damn hero.

3)Mike Thornton: Newly recurred spy(depending on how you play), a crap ton of skills, and a list of contacts longer then my arm that will come to his aid. Not the best hero but he is good at what he does.

The Spy from TF 2. I could go invisible and back stab anyone I wanted without remorse.

... It feels like I'll come up with an even better answer in time given.

Either Samus Aran (It's popular, I know.), Cammy, Morrigan (Either Darkstalkers or Dragon Age), or Proto Man.

Edit: I hate to say if but also Rinoa as well...

Miles "Tails" Prower.

It may sound silly, but I suppose it wouldn't sound so silly if I can pull a Mega Buster out of thin air using the power of technology, fly over you, hit you in the back, and then ride away on a rocket-powered hoverboard. Also, mechs are cool and I'd get one of those too.

Isn't it amusing how the one character who always seems to be portrayed as more vulnerable in the Sonic games winds up being the most versatile? Cream doesn't count. She relies on Cheese.

I would probably be Pokemon Trainer, just for the fact that it would be interesting, easy, fun, and safe.

I mean, I get into no conflicts myself. There is very little risk of actually getting hurt because it's all about what my pokemon do, not what i do myself. All i have to worry about is being a good trainer.
And how cool would it be to have a pets that control elements, and provide forms of transportation.
Plus the fact that it gets really easy to make money when you can win battles all the time.

All around, the rewards would be great, and the risk is very minimal. And I can stop adventuring whenever I get tired of it, and retire with a ton of cash.

Zoey from L4D or maybe a little sister from Bioshock. They see the true beauty of the world.

Garrett from the Thief series, gruff, sarcastic, kleptomaniac... all seem like good things to me.

if not him (I'll not say my Shepard, although he is damn cool) probably my Fallout 3 character... mainly because I loved Army survival training and wouldn't mind having a fatman :)

Apparently there was one in the 90's that was really awful, but there's also the more recent ones.
