Okay, did any of you whining about the laughing scene EVER play the game? In-story, THE WHOLE POINT is that the laugh sounds fake. He's actively trying to laugh to try and cheer himself up, and he's terrible at it. Wakka even says, "we thought you'd gone crazy!"

Change the graphics so tha the entire game looks like it does in the really good cutscenes. I would also make it possible to travel to more specific save points from Cid's ship so that I don't have to walk so far every time I feel like fighting Jecht.

I don't think I could fix FFX with a single change.

I mean let's face it, basically every piece of hardship and strife the party goes through happens because Yuna won't tell them what she's planning to do at any stage. If she'd just up and said "hey guys, i'ma go save the world properly this time, here's the plan" then basically the only resistance might have come from Wakka, but then you wouldn't be losing much there...

But that basically requires you to rewrite the game from the Mi'hen Highroad onwards.

FFX annoyed me more than any other Final Fantasy game, and very nearly killed my love of the series.

I totally didn't mind FFX-2. The battle system was fun (it took how many goes to get to variable length ATB bars as the best visual representation of varying speed?) and the progression system matched it well, the fact that you could explore the world relatively completely early on, and the way the myriad of sidequests progressed alongside the main quest ticked all the required boxes for me.

(I think, actually, X-2 is the only one I'd be interested in a remake of, as long as it was on the Vita, because JRPG fits much better on handhelds in my life)

I actually liked the sphere grid system, for whatever reason. I enjoyed planning things out and working to get the characters on the skill paths I wanted.

I would make Blitzball more fun, or more optional, or both. I spent the beginning of the game all excited to play some Blitzball, since the cutscene made it look awesome, but then the actual minigame was incredibly tedious for me. Since it doesn't seem to matter whether you win the game or not, I just mashed buttons for fifteen minutes until that stupid tournament was finally over.

But yeah totally looking forward to the remake/remaster of this game. Totally not looking forward to that laughing scene...

Let's see... I know they can't remove Seymour, him being such an important character, but maybe they could scale back the obnoxious difficulty a bit? Some of those fights are nearly impossible if you don't already know what to do.
Also, why not have the standard shared XP thing? It must be weird as hell for the monsters when I'm playing musical chairs with my team just to make sure they all get stronger in every single fight.
The arena's boss monsters are absolute bullshit, no matter how strong my party was, that inconcievable old man (Can't hunt monsters but he can contain those fucking things?) will always have something that one-shots whoever it attacks.
The sphere thing is kindof annoying, do we really need strength, magic, speed, and ability spheres? Early on, I ended up holding half my party back until I found enough of the right speheres to advance them without gimping them at all. EDIT: To be clear, I mean just have a general 'upgrade' sphere for strength/magic/speed/ability, it's a real ***** having to go find the right monsters to kill if you haven't grinded enough.
Half the celestial weapons are an agonizing chore to unlock, but I guess that's half-justified for the best gear you can get, right?
EDIT:
That you basically -need- to grind to get through by more than the skin of your teeth, even some random monsters might wipe your team. And why the fuck, when 3/7 members are down, can't the living ones replace them? We confirm by having them switch in and out that they are ready and able, but when one falls, it's "nah, they're just lying down a bit, they've got this!" It'd have certainly helped when I learned stealing from the Magic Urn enemy results in instant death for the entire team.
Getting enough of the items needed to customize gear is arduous and irritating, especially when/if you learn the item you're looking for can be attained in bulk, once, from that fucking old man at the arena in exchange for catching some near-harmless-at-that-point monsters from earlier areas.
And finally, they could quit cheating in Blitzball so damn much. I thought things were unfair in the forced match because that was the great champion team, but no, it seems the other team is always higher-leveled than you and always has ridiculous stats, maybe there's some anti-bullshit trick I missed like Auron attacking a flying enemy, but thankfully it's optional anyway and you don't have to win the one that isn't.

(Guess who's been replaying it recently!)

To be honest I wouldn't change that much, I loved the game. Fix the lip synching, fix Seymour's voice maybe, and change Seymour's crazy hair. Oh and make it less hard to get the celestial weapons.

Maybe add in a bit more detail about why exactly...uh...

...Why the Hell did Titus have to be sent or whatever the Hell happened?! I'm sure this was explored in X-2 but I haven't played that yet and while I do plan on playing it I'd rather just know what happened with Titus. I fucking cried (a little bit: single manly tear) when Yuna ran through him on the airship in the ending video. I don't like crying unless the ending is unreasonably happy as in FFIX...although it did inspire emotion so there's always that but I want an explanation dammit! Not in another game either!

You know, the laughing scene never bothered me until everyone started pointig it out...

OT: hmmm maybe better lipsynching for the english voices? They could maybe also do a better job of explaining
what exactly tidus is and why he has to disappear.
Although it's very much possible they intentionally made it confusing. Because that's how the characters also feel at that point.

I had 260 some hours on my ffx save on my ps2, ffx was incidently the last final fantasy game i played all the way through, x2 i never got, the next one was horrible, lest annoying enoughthat i never bothered to even finish the game.

well we all knew square had run out of the magic hat made FF games work, and it seems in general we at the point and time in the games industry where it is time to dust off the old classics put em in a new wrapper and resell em, gota be cheaper than making a whole new game, especially some of the depth these old games had compared to modern games, give a few years and every other game will be a remake of some "classic".

not much but
1. Not having to dodge 100 lightning bolts to get one of Lulu's unlockers
2. Add Rikku's FF X-2 costume
3. Have people actually say Tidus instead of "you"

Add the Japanese voices.
This is actually a really good idea, especially considering that most of the people that's going to buy it played it already so this gives them more for their money. Besides the english subtitles are already in there so half the work is done already. :)

OT I'm going to say make the ultimate weapons unlocks not such a MASSIVE pain in the ass. Whoever thought doing crap like dodging 200 hundred lightning bolts in a row is fun is completely insane and has no business being anywhere near anything meant to design things for fun. Hard is fine, but that kind of stuff was just frustrating and annoying as hell and most importantly NOT FUN AT ALL.

1. It was 200, grrrrrr
2. Actually alternate costumes in general is also a really good idea.
3. Something tells me they're not going to go rerecord any of the lines, but yeah it would be nice to just get rid of the "name this character" feature and just go with his name.

I would remove Blitzball. I like RPG's, I don't like sports games. To that end, I don't buy sports games and I didn't appreciate having to play Blitzball. It's ok to have it in the game but make it 100% optional.

Also, I never understood this hate of Tidus and Vaan. Just popular to hate on them I guess. I can understand the hate on Squall though, because he was so negative that it might rub off on the player. Neither Tidus nor Vaan were negative characters.

People are just jealous cause they're pretty :)

Everyone's complaining about the laughing scene, butr it was SUPPOSED to be cringeworthy, wasn't it?

Just one thing?

I would do this in this order.

1.Allow equipment customization from the star.
2.Add at least 1 more layer of further or advanced customization.
3.Add another accessory.
4.Streamline blitz ball some
5.Add 2 more pieces of equipable equipment.
6.Double the size of towns.
8.Double the size of all levels.
9.Add an over world.
10. Offer a better fast travel setup.

I could do ten more if I want >>

and for FF12

1.Add proper dual wielding
2.Add classes as an option.
3.Be able to break up the party and place them where I want them
4.Add range and radius to attacks, magic, ect, ect, ect
5.Add a faster run button.
6.Add more unique non bland equipment.
7.Add 2 more accessory slots
8.Add 2 more equipment slots
9.Add more choices for limit breaks(like chose between 3 different ones per level of limit break).

10.Kick Vahn out of the party.
11.Easy fast travel take like 10% of money to go to any part of any town.
12.Choose what stats to upgrade per level.

Set Auron as the main character .... he needs no companions.
i always thought they would have done a FF7: dirge of cerberus kinda thing with auron being the main character showing how he became who he is in more detail... i am disappointed that i was wrong

Remove all of the characters, and replace them with FF7 characters. Then, remove the story and replace it with the FF7 story. After that, remove all of the settings and envirnoments and replace them with FF7 settings and environments. Then remove the mechanics and replace them with the FF7 mechanics.

But leave Blitzball.

With a remake/ remaster of Final Fantasy X coming in the near future I thought it would be interesting to find out what my fellow escapists would change if they could change one thing and one thing only.
Hmm, just one thi-TIDUS! TIDUS TIDUS TIDUS FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY TIDUS!!!!!!!!!!

He is bar none the most annoying character in that game (and arguably the entire series). Those stupid looks, that sniveling self-absorbed personality, *snarl* [a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H47ow4_Cmk0"]THAT LAUGH[/a]

That one character gave me more headaches than most of the rest of the game combined. He needs a from-the-ground-up redesign or should be dropped entirely, with either Yuna or Auron being the new main character (as both are far more interesting and well balanced characters), he is that irredeemable an individual.

The runner up to this is the Yu Yevon boss fight. How does a game go the from the Jecht Sin fight, a challenging and [a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZm4r3BdCq4"]friggin' badass[/a] bossfight to a final battle against a floating tick where you literally can't lose?!?!

Talk about anti-climactic.......
