You know what? Regardless of whether or not it's brown or red, it's a desert, an environment that is inherently dull from a visual standpoint. Seeing rock textures repeated across an entire map does not do anything for the game's image to me.hazabaza1 said:Sorry man, I'm just not seeing it. I can see the red planes, sure, I see the blue, once I enlarge and zoom in on it, but I'm struggling to see the yellow. And it still looks like browny-orange to me.Bags159 said:It's red! http://www.destination360.com/north-america/us/arizona/images/red-rocks.jpghazabaza1 said:To me that looks more brown with a hint of orange.Bags159 said:You're right. A game where one empire's armor is bright red, another blue and yellow, and the third is teal / purple, with multiple biomes (marsh, winter, desert, etc) is totally brown and grey. The picture above doesn't even have any brown; it's a red environment.hazabaza1 said:Yes, let's get rid of the brown and grey with... brown and grey.Bags159 said:I don't need to because planetside 2 is coming out next year.

BRILLIANT.
OT: I dunno. Add more greens, more blues, I guess.
So much facepalm!
And you could have chosen a better picture to represent all these bright colours really, because as someone whose never seen another screenshot from Planetside 2 it's not really a great representation of "new colourful game".
I chose a great screenshot. You can see red jets, blue and yellow jets, and blue and yellow tanks, in a RED ROCK environment.
I like color as much as the next guy, but there's no reason to eye rape the players with neons.
I'm inclined to agree here. Modern Warfare 2, part of the franchise that gets the most shit in this regard, had a total of THREE levels set in the Middle East, the typical breeding ground of brown and grey environments, and yet all of them sported a varied color palette. Then we have the Brazil Level, the snowy mountain ranges, the American suburb with skies red from fire, the grassy field, etc.Kermi said:I think if people paid attention to the games they're playing instead of parroting every critic on the interweb, they'd see that games aren't nearly as grey and brown as they like to think and we wouldn't need to have this asinine debate.
If this is a purposeful reference to Halo, then I must ask, what do you mean by that last sentence? I didn't think many people thought that the games didn't make sense. But I'll say we should have crazy aliens with purple spaceships and weaspons that shoot hot blue plasma. OH WAIT, THEN PEOPLE WILL JUST MOAN ABOUT HOW THAT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE.
Heard of MadWorld?krazykidd said:Well since pink and white is taken, i'ma go with black and and white! I'd like to see a little more artistic games , something like the movies , Sin city , schinlers list and sucker punch . Sucker punch wasn't black and white , but it was very dark, and i think that movie would make an AMAZING horror game if done properly.
It is a deliberate reference to Halo, and yes, people complain about brightly coloured aliens and spaceships not making sense - even going so far as to saying blue and orange coloured aliens would make poor soldiers due to lack of camoflague. Seriously.ultrachicken said:If this is a purposeful reference to Halo, then I must ask, what do you mean by that last sentence? I didn't think many people thought that the games didn't make sense.
Well, considering the fact that those aliens have predator like invisibility, I don't think camouflage is an issue. I've never heard that complaint before.Kermi said:It is a deliberate reference to Halo, and yes, people complain about brightly coloured aliens and spaceships not making sense - even going so far as to saying blue and orange coloured aliens would make poor soldiers due to lack of camoflague. That is, indeed, what I was referencing.believer258 said:It's already been made. EDIT: Or was this what you were referencing?Kermi said:I think if people paid attention to the games they're playing instead of parroting every critic on the interweb, they'd see that games aren't nearly as grey and brown as they like to think and we wouldn't need to have this asinine debate.
