If you could choose 1 game to be wiped from history forever... What would it be?

X-2, Custers Revenge, Singstar, the High School Musical game, and anything Barbie.

Whoever mentioned the Zelda game for the CDi must be silenced. That game was like the Star Wars Christmas Special (which I would also wipe from history). IT NEVER HAPPENED. EVER.

lol

so someone beat us to it on the CDi front? They've already been removed from history?

Tomb Raider. The original. It started something it never should have.
Ah yes, the "Gloria Gaynor" syndrome. I know it well.

I'd probably choose something like the old C64 port of "crossfire". Terrible, terrible game. (Yes, worse than ET. It really was that bad.) Although the port of "Double Dragon" was probably more infamous for being a game without redeeming features, "crossfire" was the real embarassment of the C64's catalogue... more recently, I think the world would probably be a better place without "World of Warcraft", although I think somebody said that one already.

the first halo was good. but, it inspired many bad games, including its sequels. so i'd have to go with halo

So if we choose the first entry in a series, is it then assumed that all of the sequels/subsequent entries in that series never existed either? It'd be really interesting to remove one of the huge, iconic series' - Mario, Final Fantasy, Wolfenstein, for a few examples - and see what effect that would have on the history of gaming.

A bunch of people have said it, but, Word of Warcraft.

It's become too addictive to people. People having lost their lives and child lives [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/issues/issue_164/5167-Baang-You-re-Dead] to the game have brought it under heavy fire.

Before it came we could hide the messed up gamers.

Sounds like some kind of Back to the Future time travel philosophy there. Heh.

I'd honestly have to say another vote for E.T. for the Atari. Sure, something has to occupy the "worst game" spot, but frankly, I'd rather we'd never seen a game as poorly designed as that one see the light of day. Even for its time, it was pretty awful.

I can't really say halo because I have had good times playing it with friends.

All in all, I would have to say Need For Speed Pro Street. It took everything that was good about the series (Epic car chases, fighting for control of areas, etc) and decided to make it legit while disowning the previous games.

I think you have a good point. However, I think that we need MORE of these games. You know to help weed the socially inept from our collective gene pool. Get rid of those who take gaming too seriously and those that think 1337 speak makes them cool.

That is a fair point, also it helps with population control.

Portal. Yes it was a fun game blah blah blah. But I just want to stop hearing about it. I've heard my mom say "the cake is a lie" and she can't even turn on a computer or game console by herself let alone play the game.
ahahahahahahahahaha

anyway, my vote goes for wow and how it has basically taken away years of some peoples lives.

My vote goes to WoW for sucking the life and innovation out of nearly every other game in the genre.

It's the Wal-Mart/McDonalds of the industry, and there seems to be no competition in sight...

It's too bad really. Before it, MMOs were all trying to be different and new and innovative with their design. Ever since it was released, every game is trying to be like it.

In the defence of E.T. if it never caused the video crash in the US, Nintendo would never have had the influence it does today. regardless of if you like or dislike Nintendo, they laid the foundation for modern day gaming and surpassed the 70s and 80s American companies. Who knows, maybe E.T. was a god-sent. The industry may be crap today if it never happened. It may even be better, but who wants to gamble on something great that we have?

My choice would be Yaris. Not influental in the slightest, so it would never change anything except get it off my Xbox game list and give me back 30 mins of my life I spent downloading and trying it out.
