If you could choose a single NPC to have a game built around them... who would you choose...

Like most others I'll have to pick a Mass Effect character, though one not mentioned yet.

I'd love to have a game about Ashley Williams' (or Kaiden Alenko's if you went that way) time between Mass Effect 1 & 3.

For Ashley at least I thought her appearance was handled rather poorly in ME2 and I was kind of expecting a DLC to come out featuring her (or Kaiden) but that doesn't look like it will be happening so I'd also settle for a seperate game.

Mass Effect is great and all, but are there really no other candidates?

Ugh...now that I'm thinking about it, I actually am having trouble finding a recent game with NPCs that deserve that honor. I guess that's why there aren't many candidates besides the ME crew.

But here's what I got:

1) Arlo (from Hellgate: London). Plays a fixer in a sandbox world (not Hellgate, obviously) who has to pay off his debt or the Powers That Be are going to cut off his thumbs, break his knees, or force him into a fursuit for the rest of his life.
He needs to use his powers of "negotiation" to acquire sales and product all the while fighting his incredibly politically-incorrect personality and gigantic potty mouth.

2) Sierra and/or Larc (from Legend of Mana). I'm actually very interested what role they played in the Deathbringer War and how they got to where they were in Legend of Mana. You see a couple of very brief allusions to the war, but we honestly get close to nothing and know very little of these characters (especially compared to the characters involved in the other two "Major Quests/Stories").
It would be interesting to see how the world fit together before Legend of Mana's "compartmentalization" took over; both geographically and politically.

3) Freya (from FF9): Well...I might renege on this one because:
1) her story is already told and 2) that would mean returning to the Clowntopia that was FF9's universe (which I didn't like). 3) She was a player character (but not a main character; her role was ancillary at best to the main plot).
However, Freya was a great female character in an industry that typically ignores all but the most superficial/cliche' attributes of female characters. I don't even care if she's a rat; she was awesome and actually had a personality and that counts for a lot more.

Maybe there would be a nuclear war! Yes, I am evil.
I've had an idea like this before, except the idea I had was that it would look like... well.... a game about Tingle, except it would actually be a really deep, thoughtful metaphor for the JFK assassination.

Saxton Hale. Not really an NPC, since he never appears in the game proper, but you know that would be awesomely manly.

Joey and his Rattata, which we all know is in the TOP FUCKING PERCENTAGE OF ALL RATTATA. I'd love to see that Rattata's rise to power.

Zelda.

As in, have an actual Legend of Zelda game be about playing Zelda and kicking ass. Let her take her own destiny into her hands for once instead of dancing to the tune of some old farts and their older rocks.

Randall Dean Clarke, from Fallout: New Vegas. I don't know how good a game it would make, but his story is really quite tragic.

Presumably it would be an apocalyptic survival game, given his struggle in Zion National Park.

How to make a game that covers 30 years of beating the odds might be a bit tricky, though.

The Father from Fallout 3. It would give you a good idea of what the Wasteland from a different perspective is like. You have people you knew already, you have research you have to do, and if it had a save import function, you could meet your character and talk about your decisions.
Plus Liam Neeson for an entire game this time...

probably thane from ME2. So we can enact that scene from the ME2 teaser you see if you don't press start on the starter screen on ME2 (maybe it's in the trailer, don't know, videos won't load atm for me, I'll edit if it is). And the Hanar can be integrated in to it. Hell, they have the trailer here:
I'd play that.
Where's that take my money pic when you need one?

Ah um...you know....yeah,
The ME2 crew is the only group popular enough and badass enough to actually get a playable game going. I'd play that.

I would be the first person in line for this game. It may not be the most popular thing, but I would adore it to pieces.

Hell, even a small Xbox arcade version, I don't care. Something to flesh out the time between ME 1 and ME3 and make me feel better about ME2. Please? Pretty please?

Griswold from Diablo. The whole game is a blacksmith tycoon game and when you beat it at the end, Diablo walks into town and kills everyone. Then like one of those crazy hybrid games you become Zombie Griswold and you have to continue outfitting swords and shields to skeletons and demons.
