If you could create a game JUST for you, regardless if everyone else hated it, what would it be?

The game I'm working on right now - I'm building the development tools at the moment.

Universe

I've had to scale it down a bit as it was initially rather too ambitious:

Oh boy, where do I start...

1. Summed up as Baldur's Gate 2 on steroids. Take a "classic" fantasy setting and make it over-the-top, larger than life and just plain awesome. Also, make it complicated (different types of magic, varied fighting styles, complex class system, etc.). Also, none of that open world crap. Make it story-based, but man up and make proper branching storylines so multiple playthroughs can give a totally different game.

2. Giant robot simulation with developed tactical elements. Basically, cross Mechwarrior with X-Com and you're getting close. You play from a robot cockpit, but have to manage the tactical aspect as well. Robots would all have distinct vulnerabilities and would have to rely on teamwork to stand any chance. The game would, of course, feature a corresponding epic storyline campaign, with maybe some strategic elements to pass time between missions. It would also be a great platform for co-op multiplayer. And the AI would be awesome.

3. Freespace 2 with roughly 3 times more ships. Perhaps allow the player to manage capital ships as well as fighters. High reliance on space hazards such as nebulas, asteroid fields, perhaps a fight in a solar flare, etc. Also, fighters wouldn't be an answer to everything, but would be used to cripple enemy capital ships and protect their own, excecute surgical strikes, etc. In light of the fact that I'm watching several Gundam anime at the time, fighter craft can be replaced with humanoid robots... ;)

4. A cross between Supreme Commander, Total War and Sim City set in the Warhammer 40k setting. The game places you in the shoes of a planetary governor tasked with the defence and development of a troubled world. Face Ork invasions, Chaos Crusades, Dark Eldar slave raids, Necron awakenings, Eldar manipulations, Tyranid Hive fleets and much more while fielding an ever increasing arsenal from lowly Planetary Defense Forces through Space Marine chapters all the way to Titan legions as you develop your backwater planet into a formidable Forge world and a bulwark of the Empire! Perhaps make a Tau or Eldar version as well (Craftworld sim!).

That's all I got at the moment...

It's an FPS-RPG.

A radioactive wasteland consisting of the whole of England, every city mapped out in immaculate detail. *with obvious changes made due to nuclear holocaust, resettlement, conflicts, etc.

The radiation has zombified the majority of the population, and the rest have now arranged themselves into factions:

One, would consist of scientists being guarded by a military of sorts, attempting to create a method of fixing the irradiation and a cure for the mutations (Think BoS in the Fallout universe, minus the advanced tech.)

We'd then have the stragglers, the survivors who were neither military trained or intelligent enough to help the scientists. They live a half life, scattered in isolated towns and cities, dwelling in the mountains, farming what they can and raising livestock.

They are constantly being attacked by the Wildsmen, the ones with corrupted senses of morals, finding it easier to steal than to create.

All of these groups are being attacked by small divisions of mercenaries from overseas, attempting to steal money, food, land, and technology.

There are also unconfirmed rumours of something inhuman living in the ruins of London. For the time being, we recommend avoiding the city and its suburbs - if nothing else, many of the mutants roam the area.

Now, I realise you're probably thinking "oh, he means the english fallout 3".

Sorta. But not. Fallout 3 couldn't quite satisfy me - it was too small. This game wouldn't have the giant piles of rubble from the DC ruins that couldn't be climbed; all buildings would be accessible, the only exception being the channel tunnel, which is cordoned off by the french military.

The game would have random encounters - maybe sometime you'd wander into a town previously thought of as safe, to find out that Wildsmen had burned it to the ground and taken everything.

The game would include a variety of mechanics I don't recall seeing frequently elsewhere - hunting, tracking, making shelters, a decent economy..

The combat, being set in England, would be forced to rely mainly on melee weapons and explosives, although there would be a variety of trapping methods thrown into the mix, especially when sheltering in a building.

It would be possibly to destroy the majority of scenery, providing it wasn't mission critical - would be possible to blow up a house or similar buildings in order to kill your foes.

There'd be an abundance of cars, but parts would need to be found in order to fix them - the strikes on England knocked out the majority of electronics.

Whoa crap I've wrote a lot. I enjoyed that.

Basically Manhunt 2, but set in the office where I work. You'd play as me, as you used office supplies to kill all my co-workers.

Unique thread in a usually dull sea of threads... if it's been done before, not often, and I've never seen one. Reading them is barrels of fun. Some have already said some cool ones.

I'm bogged down with every thing I've wanted to do in a game. OK, let's see now... in no particular order:

1. Realistic zombie apocalypse. No splatterhouse stuff, no motorcycles, no chainsaw arms and no running through hoards unharmed. Nothing like Dead Rising, at all. Get bitten, you're infected, and you can only go out in a blaze of glory or do something heroic before you go... or go mad and attack the rest of the survivors, your call. Camp out in a building, build zombie-proof barricades and traps, collect ammo, armor up a truck and go a-killin', and see if you can kill enough zombies and not get scratched or bitten until the zombie apocalypse is over. Maybe have the option to play power metal while you go 'hunting'.

2. An ICO clone, with unlimited climbing potential. It was kind of sad that you couldn't climb the temple once the game was done... I wanted to climb things! The colossi were just a fun distraction between climbing sessions. Explore ancient ruins! See sights unseen for untold millenia! Swing and climb and run and jump and- *gasp*... maybe the new one will have enough climbing and jumping to sate my appetite, but I doubt it.

3. Survive a biblical apocalypse. The skies grow dark, the seas run red, and impossibly abstract lovecraftian horrors are invading the Earth. You, and a group of like-minded sinners, must survive what everyone else was too wussy (and/or pious) to survive! The ground cracks, floods swamp small towns, dust storms, giant creatures hunt for the lost ones, with you among them. Awesome! No cop-out, Jesus and Budhai team-up glory ending, either. I want to have to survive first.

4. Be a serial killer. Call me crazy, but imagine creating a suitably creepy costume, ala Buffalo Bill, Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers, and create a legacy as an incredibly scary, almost inhuman force of nature. Get really successful and you can continue from beyond the grave. See how no-one will ever want to play this? The media would have a fit. No-one would admit to enjoying it without being put under a mental health watch.

A sandbox game in a city about the relative size of GTA or something thereabouts, set during the Biblical Apocalypse.

100 ft. tall demons, the undead, dragons, Lovecraftian horrors, evil cults, boiling blood raining down from the sky, oceans burning, etc. All that good stuff.

A few sidequests here and there, the scattering of weapons ranging from "Oh, look a shotgun." to "I could blow up the whole goddamn world with this.", and a story about a man trying to get from one end of the city to the other to pick up a pizza.

EDIT: And a soundtrack composed entirely by Clutch, just for a little extra badassery.
Whoops, someone beat me to #3. Mostly. He even said 'Lovecraftian Horrors'! And the blood thing! Wasn't thinking much in terms of weapons, though, in any of mine.

Mine would be about a guerrilla style third person shooter. I would be a human on a alien world where 1 peaceful race of aliens are taken over by a warlike group of aliens and the peaceful aliens are too pussy to resist. So its my job to sneak around, build up a resistance, and grant the alien race freedom.

This would be a strategy and a FPS. You can set the troops up in different position every time you come back to base. You can train spies, assasins, scientists, and engineers to help beat out the aliens, and recruit more troops. You can also go out into the city and take missions on yourself, help ambushes, destroy key points, and raise your fame. You win levels by organizing enough troops with good tactics and clearing out the city of enemies. Eventually you take over all the cities and attack the enemies empire in a huge war.

A Serious Sam clone, set in Blackpool.
As a resident of Blackpool I must ask you, Oh god why!?

A prototype-esque game where you're in an open world environement, full of Alex Mercers. You are a civilian with nothing extra ordinary and it's your job to pewpew until you're dead.

A 4x in space that takes the best from galciv2 and space empires4.

From alpha centauri and civ4 the game borrows civics and maintenance.

Economy would be more like SE4. Diplomacy more like gc2.
It would have both warp drives and warp points. It would have both fighter carriers and the armor type vs weapons type progression.
Hex grid.
Galaxy map from GC2, but can zoom to solar systems when ships get close to stars and warp drives get slower near massive objects.
Planets move forward along their orbits at the end of each turn.

Well mine would Be a Serious Sam esque shoot em up with Brian from Tekken but with miniguns for hands and sharks for legs. He would ride around on a rocket horse made from guitaurs and the objective of the game is to kill 4 zillion enemies in a row. If you stop for one second the counter starts again.

The musical score would consist of Metal and Trance music.

And last but not least there are side missions to upgrade your shark legs, miniguns, rocket horse and general Brianess.

Called ZOMG MONSTER SPAWNER 4000!

A flight-action game like Ace Combat or HAWX with big, huge, unbelievable airborne bosses, awesome-looking future aircraft because the Raptor is old hat, blistering speed, a full squadron of intelligent wingmen who are completely optional to use, a story that makes sense and doesn't get in the way of the gameplay but rather enriches it, and above all, a complete lack of crippling realism.

A realistic mountain biking sim. everything from setting your bike up for a race to visiting vendors before a race to try and get sponsered and get some new parts. then a mini game in which you go up the lift and try to scope out a line on your way up, all in first person. And youre given the option to customize your team jersey and participate in race days online every weekend. since its realistic you wont be going down the mountain pedal to the metal the enitre time. youd have to control your speed with your brakes. and if your bike sustains damage, you have to finish the race with the flat tire or no chain.
