Hmmm... To "date", or "fifth date"? (most people say "third", but there's something to be said about taking one's time)
I'm surprised how long I've sat here pondering an answer for this one... Sure, there's the immediate list of VG Hotties that have been drafted into the adolescant gamers' spank bank rosters through the years: Samus Aran, Chun Li, Cammy, Lara Croft, Tifa Lockheart, Bloodrayne, and most recently Bayonetta, to name a few.
For the first option, I think I'd have to go with Lucy West from 'Fallout 3'. I think it would've been nice to have a more grounded romantic connection with the character (and not in the way that most modders take the concept of in-game romance)... You're stuck in the Capital Wastes, trying to make your way and help provide for yourself and miss Lucy back in Megaton. I won't deny the urge to keep Clover on hand for those baser desires... What can I say, I'm still male. Of course, it would be contingent on her keeping her yap shut about Eulogy. Heheheh.
Another "dating" candidate would have to be Chell of 'Portal' fame. I know I was supposed to suspend disbelief and view the game as my own experience, but I felt more connected to Chell as a separate person, whose story I was observing through her own eyes via Gibson-esque SimStim recording. (I kept half-expecting to see an ad for ZEISS-IKON on a desktop)
Admittedly, I wouldn't mind being able to give a little attention to Chloe from 'Uncharted 2: Among Thieves'. "Boy, it's a shame you have to sit on something that pretty." Hey, I can accept how things work out between her and Nate... but, yeah, I would certainly miss that posterior.
