Is that some Gurren Lagann? Cos mech's with sunglasses are the only ones worth noticing, watching Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann now, it's the first mecha anime I haven't turned off out of disgust and shame after the first few episodes.

It's the only mecha anime I've actually bought on DVD. Mecha are just sorta there as a background to the whole story, not the main focus. That's why it's so good.

To be fair, that's largely been the case with most mecha shows since Macross and Gundam Zeta back at the start of the '80s.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann just turns the silliness up to 11, where it belongs.

I think I would make my robot look like one of those vacuum-cleaner dealies but with an eye. It would talk exactly like RAK the autonomous AI.
I miss when RAK used to do that.
