YES

That's like not lucid dreaming because evil clowns will torture you. (true story)

Hmm...would I play games with the possibility that it would hurt? Yes, simply put. This would make multi-player a lot more interesting. Plus with this pain that all players would feel it might even lower the amount of kids who shouldn't be playing and thus improve the experience for everybody. In some comments above, this pain might even improve the gameplay overall by not letting odd attacks completely kill you, like being shot in the foot equals death, which then just makes a better game.

I would definitely play if the options menu had the option of tone down pain to whichever percentage you want, then as I build up a bigger pain threshold I will increase the pain level (maybe difficulties will mean different lowest pain levels e.g. very easy 10%, easy 25%, medium 50%, hard 75%, impossible 100%) although I would not play manhunt 3 online, I mean pain is one thing but the idea of feeling executions brings terror to my mind.

Depends, if the game makes you feel pain, would it also make you feel pleasure?

If so, maybe, otherwise hell no.

Yeah, i don't see why not.

I mean so long as the pain wasn't lethal and toned down a bit.

I think it'd be a good way of making people think , instead of charging head first into a battleground.

Feeling pain for getting shot in a video game?... It sounds like a horrible idea, but there could easily be some good things that come out of it. Like some people have mentioned above, it would make it so people would play a bit more strategically, so that they wouldn't have to expericence the pain, but still... pain? It would probably be more likely to be a simple shock, nothing more. Anything severe would cause me to not use it.

This idea will probably never actually come into video games though, because children play video games, and if they felt pain they'd end up crying, which equals bad reception against whoever created the technology.

I myself would rather work on a real-life simulation, where YOU are in the game, kind of like the holodeck in Star Trek (I'm a nerd). That would be freakin' awesome.

No, I have the SCA for that. Mild total body feedback to help determine the direction of an attack , on the other hand...

Hell yeah I'd try that out! Sounds really interesting! It'd also be a great way to determine who the pussy in your group of friends really is!

I probably would cry, because Fallout 3 is my favorite game right now... and I'd never be able to play that anymore with how much happens to me in that game.

No more idiots running around using a sniper rifle as an assault rifle and posting millions of the same videos on YouTube. ^_^

Just thinking about it, makes my whole body hurt. Just thinking about Mortal Kombat fatalities. *shudder* I don't really think I need to know what it feels like to have my spine torn from my body, through my mouth.

Absolutely not, mostly because I play TTT constantly, and that would be horrific: IE C4, Bullets, Flare Guns, More Bullets, and Tazers.

Of course I would - because there is no way such a game mechanic would be compulsory. I would simply play with it disabled.

.. Does brain damage count? Because many game can do that, for a number of reasons.
