In close relation to my "Don't read this!" topic, I watched a show the other day which investigates the human mind, when £50 was left in the middle of the street with a red circle around it for two days unsupervised, nobody, not even during the cover of the night, touched it without any cameras or anything to monitor the cash. Yet still, a measly £5 left on a counter in a pub filled with CCTV was taken by a man who saw it and used to buy a drink instead of handed in.

By all means, few are hardly likely to jail you over a £5 note, but still, its pretty dishonest.

Regardless, if you saw something, depending on what it is, would you hand it in or walk off with it. What would the circumstances have to be for you to make the decision, take, leave or hand in?

Whats mine is mine, and whats yours is mine. Gimme gimme!

Seriously tho, if there's a fiver (or a fifty) on the ground, its fair game. And I feel absolutely no shame or guilt about that statement.

Unless that money was given to me willingly by an eccentric millionaire, I'd take it into the nearby police station.

I personally couldn't live with just taking it like that. For one thing unless you saw them drop it, it could belong to anyone, such as a handicapped individual's funds for medical prescriptions to an honest hard working student desperately trying to make ends meet.

Hmmm ... well if it is limited only to theft, I'd steal a super-powerful laptop for my friend who can't play modern games :(

Only if it was an effort to save my life or someone else's life. I'm not a huge fan of screwing people over by being opportunistic.

In all honesty.... if it was my money most (and I say most) people would take it so yes... I would take it. If it was a wallet filled with 300 pound but no ID it is mine but if there was ID it would go straight to the police.

If i found a wallet, i'd take it to the police, or maybe just leave it, if i didn't know the way to a station close by, sad i know, but not my problem TBH.

If it was just a bill on the street, no wallet or anything, figurting out who's it was would be impossible and a lot of work the police probably wouldn't do anyways, cause they got more important stuff to do, it would not end up back at who dropped it anyways, they got unluckly and dropepd it, they're not gonan get it back, someones gonan get lucky and find it, might as well be me.
so i'd just grab it for myself, and brag to my friends about how i had just slain the street and looted it's corpse.

If it was a large amount of cash, big enough to not just be a bill someone dropepd by accident, i'd prolly to go the police, or leave it be.

I found a fifty on the ground once. Bought some legos with it. Bionicles, actually.

If it's a wallet with ID, I'd try to get it back to him/her.
If it's a wallet with no ID, or just cash, then it's now mine.

I picked a £20 note up in a corridor at my college once with the intention of keeping it, but then I felt guilty and handed it in to the office. If I had found it on the street I would probably have kept it, because there would be next to no-chance that I could ever get the money back to it's actual owner. I also would have kept the money if it was just a £5 note, since chances are no-one is going to miss it much anyway.

The Ring of Gyges dilemma. I'd probably just take it but it depends on the amount or objects. I've located the owner of a fancy cellphone I found because I don't care for them, but I'd probably take cash.

Well if it's money on the ground then maybe it goes in my pocket or maybe it goes to the person who dropped it. It all depends on the chances of getting it back to the person it originally belonged to. If there is a good chance (i.e. i have seen who dropped it or it's in a wallet with I.D.) then i will give it back. If not then it's mine now >)

I'd take the money. If it was in a wallet but had no ID, I'd take it. If it had ID, I'm report it to the police.

If it was the right thing to do, then yes.
