If you could have any comic book (Marvel, DC, Other) made into a movie adaptation, what would it be?

So yea, as the title says, what Comic would you like to see get made into a movie? For discussion purposes, who would you like to see play the roles of the main characters, and what (if any) pre existing storyline would you like to see on the big screen?

I'd love to see an X-Men spin off, for the age of apocalypse (although that seems a bit too far out there). I'm not particularly good with actors names or faces, so I'll leave that one blank, but I think that'd be all kinds of awesome.

I'd like to see Johnny The Homicidal Maniac, just to see how far they'd take it. Also, for the line "OH MY GOD, SOMEONE PUT SHIT IN MY PANTS!"

Also, Girl Genius.

EDIT: These should NOT be live-action, nor should they be CG. Bring back good, honest animation. You know Invader ZIM? I want JTHM like that, not Pixar-crap.

Hmm... most of my favorite supers have their own movie already. Though I would like a truly great X-men movie one of these days. First Class was certainly the best, not to mention the only one that wasn't just a Wolverine story, but it had multiple flaws. Those flaws being named Kevin Bacon and January Jones. Bacon I can almost forgive because he was so great every time he was speaking German, and he was clearly having fun with the evil bits, but after that it's like he was bored the whole rest of the movie. I shouldn't even have to mention what was wrong with Jones' performance.

The Dark Knight Returns, and The Dark Knight Strikes again for sheer awesome bad-ass-itude, though who they could tag to play "I'm old as shit but i can still kill you 47 different ways without looking at you" Batman

for trippy and mindfucking id have to say Arkham Asylum with its shifts in artstyle and really creepy vibe

they are making a animated version of year one(they better not fuck up) so id like to see an adaptation of The Long Halloween or The Killing Joke

Sandman could produce some ker-azy stuff.

Agreed, as long as they scrap that awful version of Robin. She stuck out like a sore, pulsating and puss-oozing thumb. The hair, the glasses, the buckteeth, gah. Give us some Nightwing-esque character as a sidekick.

Clint Eastwood would make a great elderly Batman, even now he still radiates "badass" on screen.

I would like to see an animated version of DC comic Kingdom Come although I guess a live action would be fine as long as they look the part of that character (I can't think of which actor/ actress would played which characters).

A good swamp thing movie. Not the terribad Wes Craven one, which was based on the original conception of the character. Instead, a film based around (or at least deriving heavy inspiration from) Alan Moore's run with the character. Swamp Thing is absolutely one of the most interesting characters around, he was pretty important in the DCU for a while (and it looks like may well be again after the conclusion of Flashpoint and the relaunch). That said, he's also not one of the best known DC characters, which I think can be an advantage sometimes when it comes to adapting these things to film.

I also think a movie with The Spectre could pretty awesome.

I'd love to see a Green Arrow movie...the DC Universe short they put out with the Superman/Shazam set was pretty good, but something with a more substantial storyline would be cool. (More of Black Canary would be good, too. :D )

Outside shot...Jim Starlin's Dreadstar. Done right, it could make for awesome SF. :)

A Deadpool movie would be quite nice if done properly, I suppose.
I can't really think of anything other than that.

I'm down with the idea of a good Swamp Thing movie.

How about a proper Hellblazer movie with a proper John Constantine?

As for actor? I've heard James Masters' name thrown about a few times here and there and think he could possibly pull it off.

I tend to like the obscure heroes. The ones i tend to like are:

Captain Marvel. Probably the least obscure hero I favor but these days he's see as a second tier hero at best. Worse, most know him as Shazam, which is just silly.

Star-Lord. A weird Marvel cosmic hero, like the Silver Surfer, who traveled space with his sentient spaceship called "Ship" and got into weird sci-fi adventures.

Mad Hatter. Now we're getting into weird golden age public domain stuff. This guy was a lawyer who would put on a silly outfit to fight crime. The only thing liking the character to the Alice In Wonderland character was his perchance for speaking in rhyme and the symbol on his chest was a top hat. So a weak connection. It's the kind of hero I would come up with.

Spider Queen. Another now public domain character who could spin web-like thread using her bracelets, but had no other spider powers. What I like about her is that her costume in no way implied spiders. It was a generic super heroine costume that someone decided to use for the character.

Kitty Kelly. This one is especially weird even for the golden age. You know how professional wrestlers will change persona? When comic book characters will do that, too. Kitty Kelly, not the trashy author, started as a plucky airline hostess aiding in the war effort. Later she gained super strength adopted a costume and the moniker Yankee Girl, not to be confused with another character with that same name from the same publisher. Then in her fifth and final appearance, she dropped the hero name, but retained a uniform with her initials "KK" on her chest. This final incarnation appeals to me because it makes no sense for a super hero's super identity to have the same name as their civilian identity. It makes the costume redundant. At least she didn't wear a mask to make it even sillier.

If I can add an original idea, I had an idea for a hero called Eggman who wore a full, yellow mask and an oval-shaped white cape so he looked like a fried egg. I think the idea has great movie potential.

I would kill for a Moon Knight adaptation. He's probably Marvel, I think. Whatever, I want to see a movie focused on him! A good movie!

I'd like to see a low-budget adaptation of the first volume of Dennis O'Neil's The Question.

Also a quadrilogy of Planetary films. And a Transmetropolitan tv series. And a Nextwave film. Of all the Warren Ellis comics to be filmed, why RED?

I haven't actually read any of the JTHM comics but I have seen every episode of Invader Zim and loved it, is the humour similar?

That was the point of her character, awkward geeky and a bit in over her head though capable of surmounting that, I enjoyed her myself, it wouldn't have been the same if it was a dude instead. Nightwing is a total dick to be honest, and the friction he has with batman is just palpable they can barely stand one another unless its necessary to the "mission", so a young version of that would be terrible.

Ultimately a Young Impressionable robin is the best pairing for an aging batman who(at the end of the comic) wants to spread his ideals amongst the youth so the future is a better place.
