I really wish cameras had been around since the dawn of human civilization (no strings attached though, like because they knew how a camera worked they also knew...). I really want to know what certain individuals looked like beyond a sculptor's or artist's portrayal. I would also like to see what many buildings looked like during their golden age like the Temple in Jerusalem...

So which invention do you guys wish was always around?

The Gun to Cavemen. Reproduction was a breeze but the more important violence was not!

I'm going to go ahead and agree with OP on this one. I've always wanted to know what famous people looked like and paintings just don't do it for me.

I wouldn't introduce any inventions to the ancient world, because it would alter the course of history, preventing me from being born, meaning I never would have been able to introduce the invention in the first place, which means the timeline wouldn't have been altered, which means...my head hurts.

But with much sparser population and much easier means of death, couldn't the human race have easily fizzled out in it's early stages?

To the OP, camera's sound pretty good. Or maybe, I dunno, immunisations.

We'd all evolve to be harder, better, faster, and stronger at the very least.

Maybe the use of electricity and the ability to make more complex and expensive alloys.

The giving of scematics for foundries would of corse be welcome.

Finally the destruction of the Dark ages before they began. Then maybe we could be colonising space by now.

They had pin-hole cameras around Alexander the Great's time I believe, but they were massive unwieldy boxes several metres wide.

Actually there was also a primitive railway in Ancient Greece as well and the Egyptians had a crude steam engine, but no one ever thought of combining the two. Imagine how different the world would have been.

A time machine? I hate having to choose just one thing.
You wouldnt be able to se it, obviously.
You would have to give it away. . .
Now i on the other hand have a time watch i stole from Captain Jack Harkness so i will travel back in time and steam your Time Machine, and than name myself The Master.

Now i on the other hand would like to give away the technology of intergalactic space travel ;D
