If you could make a game, what kind of game would it be, and what would it be about?

the most epicest, realisticest, war FPS with massive maps, crysis-esqe graphics, civilians, awesome AI, unique class mechanisms (ex. Paratrooper class invades by jumping off planes, armor class start out in tanks, spetnaz paraglide behind enemy lines), 300 v 300 matches with AI to fill in empty slots....
and a team of supernatual, autistic programmers to pull it all together...

dreams will be dreams :(:(

EDIT: and there's no real need for a story with a battle this big and intense

A Splinter Cell type game but replace Sam Fisher with a vampire (NOT a pansy sparkling one) and set it a bit in the future so your opponents will have more advanced weaponry for hunting you down. Imagine this: You're standing on the ceiling, slowly dripping an oozing darkness from your fingertips onto the shoulder of a guard below you. He begins to panic, but it's too late- the ooze quickly flows over his body, onto the ground, and sucks him downward. The ooze vanished, leaving nothing in its wake.

Kind of like a.. more Satanic Spiderman. Minus tights.

So like Vampyre Rain but actually good with freaky ooze.
I approve!

Well I will make a game like planet side, Sort of a hybrid form RTS FPS and RPG and ofcourse it will be an MMO. War really perfected. Not like on these WW2 shooters and killzone 2 whom are really good games but it is not really "war perfected" numbers is what counts when it comes to war. Tactics vs strategy and so forth. not Rambo vs a whole nation. SCI FI atmosphere and really colorful too, not this gun metal grey and dog shit brown filter that is in high demand now days. from small peek squeek spy bug like aircraft to a gigantic battleship droping down orbital lasers and missiles downward the planet of invation. this would need some massive balanceing. but I like balanceing stuff :p its fun XD

I'm actually already working in the concept. When I am out of college Ill run the idea by some designers and see if it can launch early. If not then I would have to kill poison and stab my way to the lead designer space... :p Dont worry if you have been wishing for a game like that, it will get done >.> I just hope It's me who gets to make it before my idea is swiped.

Cyberpunk. We need more cyberpunk games. In retrospect, this idea seems rather similar to Mirror's Edge. Set in a big, dirty city in the future. Rather similar to Snow Crash, actually. In the game, you use no guns, period. You are incredibly proficient with a sword/katana though, and are incredibly athletic. The game places a large emphasis on stealth and intelligently taking out your opponents. As well as the sword, you get a large variety of gadgets that can be used to take out your enemies. I think taking out the guns would require people to think more about their choices, since bringing a knife to a gun fight probably wouldn't work. You can think of every engagement of being a puzzle in itself, manipulating all the pieces until you're ready to take out whatever's in front of you.

How about a space RTS that's a cross between Travian, Homeworld, Starfleet Command, and a teeny bit of Saga? Each played commands a family tree, that grows into three different fields of play. Each family member is used as an avatar, and all contribute to the growth of an empire. The combat takes place on land, in space to space combat, boarding actions, and aboard space stations. Every player advances time at their own pace, by completing missions and achieving their goals. If a player completes X number of missions, they advance Y, only slightly adjusted based on time-scale. Other players can be interacted with based on information gathered, random chance, and how often they are on. Every attempt at a mission gains prestige, and the prestige can be used to go up ranks, while victories allow for looting rights. Every step of command up the fields of play (Socio-Political, Economic, Militaristic) for the family's overall rating will allow control over other players under the faction and field that you occupy. All activity will take place in the Sol system, and resource gathering is non-existent unless you feel like branching out that way. Ships are designed free-form (think Spore), and technology is researched by the players. Existing technology is NOT distributed evenly, but most be given, taken, or stolen....

That's all I feel like outlining for now.

One word, Steam-punk. Why are there so few steam-punk games? Airships, clock-work fire-arms, goggles and more brass than you can shake a stick at, what's not to love?
I'd have a game where you play as a smuggler in a fantasy steam-punk world, battling against the military and such.
Ever play final fantasy 6? Or gone to Elysia in Metroid Prime 3?
Anyways, an rpg based around puzzles, stealth, and exploration. Also probably in a steam-punk world, now that you mention it :D
Or a game where you overthrow a Tyrannous gaming-developer so the maverick-newbie developer can distribute it's clearly-better games. (HINT HINT, GAME DEVELOPERS WHO LURK THESE SITES)

Well to be honest, I got about a million of them, I'm just too lazy to write them down.

I would make a cross between an adventure game [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Longest_Journey] and an RPG [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elder_Scrolls] with a murder mystery [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_fiction] plot that takes place on a Stanford Torus [http://www.nss.org/settlement/space/graphics/toruscutaway-800.jpg] style space colony.

It'll have a detailed physics engine [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Havok_(software)] not as a gimmick, but so that movement in a rotating environment [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centrifugal_force_(rotating_reference_frame)] and zero gravity [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microgravity] will be accurately portrayed and lead to interesting puzzles, fights, and the like.

There will be oodles of varied characters with special care given to making sure they all have unique and interesting personalities, plus lots of voice actors so that we don't find Joe talking to Joe about how much he enjoys buying bread from Joe down the street like we had in Oblivion.

Choices in the game will actually matter, unlike some games [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bioshock], and will lead to extremely different outcomes with there being at least 20 different endings, many of them morally ambiguous at best.

...

And there will be furries [http://d.furaffinity.net/art/fluke/1236454237.fluke_foxer.jpg].

...

Not all of the characters, but a good 40% of them.

...

Don't hate [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ai8HBzSfjuI&feature=related] me! :-(

1.A squad command set during the 18th,19th or late 17th century.
You command your company of line infantry in various historical scenarios and small scale actions.
2.Stalker mated with spore creature mode to make an dark and gritty sandbox survival game.

Either of those two or one where I get to play as a squirrel.

Well there's two that I would really want to make.

The first would be a massive MMOFPS with very heavy rpg elements thrown in. Only with player made cities, battles for resources, technology development, huge freakin' vehicles, and AI controlled NPC's to round out the numbers for a truely war like feel. You choose from one of three nations in the beginning, one that uses biotechnology (implants are actually mutations, vehicles have an organic feel to them) one that uses cybernetics (just like it says, deck yourself out in metal and blast away) or a magitech one (weird magic as science stuff). If you're a good enough player then you can move up to commanding ranks, which, once there, you get to actually make up the missions and eventually the battleplans that other people take on as 'quests' of a sort. For instance, let's say that you're at the rank of a General, you can make the order to capture an enemy city, and then with that someone down the line, let's say a Colonal, he makes the decision to order some of the men under his command to capture a power reactor to facilitate the taking of the city. This order is related to the Sergeant in your squad, he makes the quest handed to you to capture the guardposts around the powerplant. You see, each higher up can make up quests that can be recieved by people lower down the food chain, all based on their own quests, and everybody gets rewarded when it works. You get rewarded for neutralizing the guards, your Sergeant gets rewarded because he helped to capture the power plant, his Colonal gets rewarded for capturing the city, and the General gets prestige for his plan working. Now along the way they'll be NPC's and PC' both working to accomplish these goals.

You also have to pick a class. Something loose, little inspired by the current choices offered by games like Battlefield. You know, sniper, engineer, that sort of thing. That's not to say that you can't snipe as an engineer, you just won't get the cool sniper abilities that the sniper does, but he also won't get the awesome abilities that you do. I'd also go with a skill tree for classes, just something to have people kind of try to specialize in soemthing so that everybody can be a little different. Like engineers being able to focus on vehicle construction, building construction, or weapon construction.

Yeah. Anyway, you can also opt to either join with the military of your chosen country, or join one of the companies that does the research and development for the country. This part becomes a little Civ IV-ish, wherein the more advanced your technologies, the better your troops will be by comparison. You can also eventually go freelance and either become a mercenary working alone, or form your own mercenary troop, and then pick and choose your battles based on bounties offered by officers. Mercenaries are responsible for the upkeep of their own gear, but are able to customize it in ways that military and company soldiers cannot. You also have the option of staging a coup or creating your own breakaway republic for others to join.

As for the nations, well, both the starting ones and the ones made during the game will have PC's running them eventually, which, for these players, makes the game a lot more like an RTS or Civilization building game, where they have to choose sites for cities, building defences, tax rates, that sort of thing. They also have to option of choosing their form of government.

Then there's the vehicles, which range from battle wagons and your standard fare of planes and helicopters, to stuff like the TITAN's from Battlefield 2142. All fully pilotable, with NPC's to fill out crew rosters if need be.

Huge huge undertaking, with hundreds of players running assaults and sieges, with thousands of NPC's being controlled to keep everything running in the background. Alliances can be made and broken, nations can be formed and then either conquered or destroyed. Hell, there's a chance that one nation could actually manage to win the war and control everything. Either way I just want to see it happen.

And while we're at it, throw in a mech or two.

Speaking of which.

I'd like to make a kind of sequel to R.A.D. for the PS2. Only, let's make it as anime inspired as possible. The game would play out a bit like City of Heroes/Villians where you would create your character and choose their powersource from either a powersuit, psychic abilities, magic, genetic modifications, cybernetics, or chi abilities. Then you choose which foundation you're the head of, each one has a focus on a specific kind of techology, which would make later upgrades cheaper or more expensive. You then choose your vehicle, from say, for instance, a kind of personal mini-jet, to a special motorcycle, from a magical horse like being, to a small robotic dragon. Finally your choose your method of giant monster fighting, which boils down to whether you want your own giant monster, a giant robot, or a giant magical golem. Each choice there has a subchoice which boils down to do you want it to fly, be good on land, or more water based, and then that breaks down to a choice of the Fast, Powerful, or Average emphasis.

The game itself has you running around a huge map with several large cities and plenty of varied landscape between, all trying to stop everything fron alien invaders to ancient demons. Some battles will have to be fought by you personally, but sometimes the enemy will bring forth some type of giant monster or machine, forcing you to call out your own. In these giant battles you can switch from taking direct control of your own giant fighter, to running around as yourself trying to solve everything from hostage situations ro trying to find a way to give your giant and upperhand, all while your giant and the enemy creature duke it out, potentially laying waste to the fully destructible cities and environments.

There's also some heavy RPG elements here, where you choose to improve yourself, your giant fighter, your vehicle, your companions, and your company. There's also some party management, where you can meet other people, befriend them, build a relationship, and eventually reveal your secret identity to them (you are basically a superhero here afterall) and potentially get them to join you. These 'party members' have their own predispositions towards what they can do, meaning that Jim is a better magic guy who's really good at controlling a golem type fighter, but that doesn't mean you can't just make them whatever you want, i.e. screw you Jim, you're a psychic who flies a giant flying robot. This comes into some heavy play when you start having to face more than one enemy giant at the same time. Of course you can also switch to controlling this other person and their giant, or you can have them combine their fighter with yours to form more powerful beings. You can eventually build your own team of heroes, though you can only choose two to take out with you at any given time.

So yeah, basically you take every sentai type of team ever made, every godzilla flick, some DBZ for kicks, GTA, Armored Core, and a dash of Monopoly, throw them in a blender, and you get it.

I'd make a Xbox live or PSN game. Seems they have a lot more freedom to be creative.

I had an idea for a game called Ninja Monkey (yes, I am advertising to nerds) a old school 2D platforming action adventure game that throws back to crazy 2D games such as Jazz Jack Rabbit or Earthworm Jim.

You play as a Ninja Monkey, a prime-ape living in the jungle who is somehow a ninja with a sword and ninja stars for some unexplained reason (the other monkeys just sit around eating bugs). When his love (another boring bug picking monkey) is taking from him by a flying saucer, Ninja Monkey will do anything to get her back.

Your adventures will take though several bizarre and hilarious locations which require many different skills. Some are simple run and platforming levels, but others require stealth where you must cling to ceilings and hide on closets or bushes to avoid detection by ultra powerful enemies. You go though the jungle, under the sea, the city, the airport, inside an alien spaceships, and into space and beyond.

Graphics wise the game basically looks like a cartoon, like Jazz Jack Rabbit and more resonantly Castle Crashers. I have actually been drawing this guy for several weeks, so I have an idea of what he looks like. Story is very simple in nature, with no dialog, but theres plenty of hilarious moments in the cut scenes that happen every five levels or so.

Basically it's a simple concept for a game, but like I said, you get a lot more freedom now a days making arcade games than big budget games which in all lightly hood won't sell or won't even be made.

i'd make a game about SPACE PIRATES!!! and space cowboys of course

and there would be this massive open world which consisted of space and these two planets as well as giant space ships

and obviously you'd play as a space bounty hunter (bit like spike in cowboy bebop) and hunt down spacce pirate's bounties as side missions but there would also be an overlying plot about something like a drug smuggler or someone collecting arms ready for a war

it would be very influenced by firefly and mainly a 3rd pperson shooter, like GUN, mixed with rebel strike
and obviously you'd be able to create your own character

i know id buy that in heartbeat
and it would be either a 15 or a 12 because you dont want it to be too focussed on swearing and bloody violence etc but more on core gameplay

and it would come out on wii first (just because wii has yet to get a well made original tps, and this way it would be built for wii so it would have fairly decent graphics and a big overworld) but a sidestory would be made for 360 with the same overworld but a different plot and a few other things changed

I've always wanted to make a tribute to The Beatles. Maybe a Platform Puzzle Adventure based on the Yellow Submarine animated film, traveling through all the strange landscapes battling all the wacky enemys who hate music. Unless it has already been done!

If I wanted to be more original I would make a game kinda based on Jurassic Park. You play as a raptor in a big 3D enviroment learning how to work with other raptors, bringing down bigger and smaller dinosaurs and how to lead a squadron preparing assaults. Basically you just build up stats and learn how to survive in harsh weather conditions and escape other dinosaur attacks. Later in the game humans try to inhabit the island and take over, before that happens you have to be able to lead squadrons and what not to chase of all the invaiders.

The excitement keeps going until you reach max stats and have become ruler of the land!
