I also choose you, pokemon. Why? Because I could then really own my favorite pokemon... Wobbuffet.

I agree that's a great idea!

Except for the Wobbuffet part...

Deus Ex. Sure, the world sucks, but it sucks for interesting reasons and motivated people can make some sort of difference.

Also, I think that the idea of living in a game world should assume that the person living in it should be the common person in the game... i.e., to live in GTA-land would mean being one of those sidewalk-goons. This changes the dynamic of the question, though. With these rules in place, we're looking at a small fraction of games, when many sandbox and god games would be interesting places to live (Alpha Centauri springs to mind).

I'd say Pokemon as well. I mean its essentially our world but with more advanced technology and giant demonic beasts under my dominion (sure you could be into the cuter ones but they'd probably just end up as lunch for my Gyarados >:D). It'd also give me a legitimate reason for terrorising obnoxious, vociferous children until they shut up, while still maintaining a public perception as a pillar of the community.

Yep, Pokemon. No school, no work, going off on an adventure when you're young, being able to fly or sail anywhere and having a bunch of really intelligent pets.

Chrono Trigger. When you say "no god games" do you mean like Okami, or Black and White? because Okami would be awesome. I want the bloom ability

Now I came here with the intent on saying Tales of Symphonia since that would be pretty sweet, but now I'm thinking I might prefer The Elder Scrolls. Hanging out in the Heimdall Forest with the elves or exploring Solstheim, what is a man to choose?

ouch, so many good choices...I guess I'd go with the bitter coast in elder scrolls III, but mass effect and valkyria chronicles are also very good options

Since Mass Effect is so widely popular...
It might be a lawless hellhole, but Bulletstorm. I want funny kills, dick jokes galore, asian cyborg best friends, and Waggleton P. Tallylicker the 50ft tall robot dinosaur.

Pokemon would be the perfect one, everyone is much more innocent, technology is far more sustainable, everything involves animals with superpowers, but it's been said so many times,
So I'd have to go with Midtown madness, the world is the same, but you can just get into your car, and drive around town like a maniac, an no one will ever get hurt.

Left 4 Dead 2 on easy. Think about it, if we can contain the infection while it is still in it's infancy, I just created a world were humans are immune to bullets. I get a peace prize and lots of hate mail from gun comapnies!

World of Warcraft, then all the people who play WoW would go out and get quest and help the world, and everyone else would stay inside and play World of Lifecraft

Animal Crossing, seriously how much simple out lives would be if it was like that. Well ok we will all be in debt by some Racoon shop owner but once we paid it off then it will become fun!
