For me i think it would be something simple like one at home and one at work. Makes my 2 minute walk to work that much easier ha i am lazy.

Place a big, heavy block/door/wall type thing over the Earth portal, hook it up to a heavy-duty mechanical arm, and set airlocks in the room.

Long story short, now we don't have to deal with the Earth's much bitchy gravitational pull and thick atmosphere to get our stuff into space. Just take your materials to the moon's surface, construct it there, and fly off to Mars.

There, I just saved BILLIONS in rocket fuel.
