If you could see yourself living off one food for the rest of your days, what would it be?

Hamburgers.

Let's face it, you have carbs, meat, two vegetables, fat, and taste. The only thing you're missing from your needed nutrition is liquids, and the coke that comes with it can do that.

What I'd probably live on is black coffee and houmus toasties, as that's what I tend to do anyway :)

Haha, doesn't bother me! Mind you, I always need something with bread otherwise it's just too dry for me to finish off. Also depends what type of bread. You fussy at all on what sort of bread you take or what brand would you normally eat? Also, I'd be just dandy with water so long as it's ice cold.
Well, it does depend on the bread, I suppose, but if it's not to my liking (too dry, to old, etc.), I just toast it.
As for the water, the colder the better I guess, but depends on the weather. Never drink it warm or hot though. That would be just silly.

I'd say pizza as long as I was allowed to vary the toppings, to stop it from getting boring.

Flan is Destiny
I was gonna say I've never actually tried flan LOL but I don't know; would you say cheesecake would be part of the flan family? Apparently quiche is haha so I don't see why not. I always thought it was a nice desert anyroad!
It's a quote, actually - obscure, but fitting. :)
Ahh! Sorry, haha. Mind you, every time I think of flan I think of that episode from Courage the Cowardly Dog.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ldv713iCGuQ Actually, if I watch that whole episode, I'll probably find out that that's actually what you're quoting lmao!

Damn, hard fucking question right here.

Erm, I'd pick Tacos, I have a huge obsession with them as of late and not being American and simply being able to go to a Taco Bell etc. makes them even better when I have them. So, yes, I shall go with them.
Ooh, tacos: good choice! Haha, it is a hard question. I only said cereal because that's what I was actually eating at the time of posting this thread, lol.

LOL, I find that the meatballs they use aren't very... solid! They're kinda... smushy, though granted last one I had was some... gawd blimey, years ago, now.

Anyways, after a short while of working where I currently work, my colleagues have instilled a sense of 'food snobbery' in me, so I cook for every meal. And given the prevalence of pizza around here, the lab's resident Italian makes the most delectable pizza's (and often out of whatever's handy, almost regardless of what it is). So much so that basically around us, if you want good food, don't buy it, make it yourself!

And how did you get yourself the free Chinese meal? A lot of my parents' friends are typical Chinese restaurateurs and I am yet to get myself a free meal!
Haha, I thought meatballs were supposed to be squishy! Either way, I've never really been a huge fan of them. Still, I should probably try that sub to see what it's like, haha.
Ooh, that's the best thing to do. Use everything from the cupboards, haha. My friend is half Iranian and that's what her dad does when he's making curry, just uses up everything that needs to be used soon. If that makes sense? Haha, man I love curry so I'll probably try to crash at her's sometime for homemade curry! Awk, once I move away from home, I think that's all I'll be doing. Might buy some cook books and off I go!
Haha, I haven't got round to it just yet! I said that to my friend, Shivvy, as a wee joke and she said, "Awk, my parents would give my friends a free meal anyway!". I was so happy but I'm yet to go down and visit her anyway haha! Lol, you should remind them of how much a wonderful person you are etc., etc., etc. and drop subtle hints to get said free meal! LOL!

Well. It could be a meal, if you want.
Now, don't just pick something off the top of your head or come up with something because, say, "it has all the vitamins etc. that I need to survive" because I'm more or less getting at what you eat near enough all the time that you may as well live off it.
Err, what makes you think people eat their favourite foods so often that they might aswell chuck away the rest of the stuff? That simply isn't the case for most people.

But fine, I'll play by your rules, and I'll say Doritoes, they just taste so damn great, though sadly eventually I'll tire of 'em.. then again I'd literally tire of any other type of food too.

But if actually in real life I could just choose one type of food I could eat for the rest of my life, I'd choose milk, possibly with cereals of some sort.
Err, I don't? It's a hypothetical question, lol... no need to be a wise arse :p (I jest).
Jeez... I'd eat a big bag of those all to myself no problem S: I feel so fat afterwards, haha. Any favourite cereals?

That sounds so good! Aw, I'm gonna have to get a notebook out soon and write down what everyone's been posting, haha!

Anyway, having read a lot of your replies, I must ask, is there any food you don't like?! XD

Haha, it's actually "Siobhan" with an accent over one of the vowels; can't remember which one but we all just call her either "Shiv" or "Shivvy". In fact, I think most of her family have Irish names. I know that her brother's called "Kenny" or "Kenneth" haha. But you think that's weird!? She has freckles. She doesn't understand this at all. LOL.
Yeah, totally! I think it's from all the walking about I do actually, lol! That and ju-jitsu although I haven't been since before Easter!

Ah, now I get, because I'm Chinese (think I've already mentioned) but my entire family have got both English and Chinese names. It's a weird cultural thing that Chinese people tend to take names similar to or popular where they emigrate to. Of all the BBC's I know, only one doesn't have an English name... *shrug*

But still, a Chinese girl... with freckles... I'm having a hard time picturing that...(!)

PS - huh, you've now successfully derailed your own thread!

Porridge made with skimmed milk, with honey, a banana, and I'd add some sunflower seeds. :)

I can't lie in in the morning because I always wake up craving my bowl of porridge...

Haha, I would probably do the same to be honest. I'd love to live in Finland (not really sure why but it just appeals to me for some reason) and if I ever have kids, I'd probably give them all Finnish names, haha. Mind you, in saying that, I'd probably do that anyway lmao :p I don't think I know many here either with Chinese names, haha.
What, is it more common than we thought? LOL Sorryyy

That's not good... lmao

That sounds so nice! I tend to just take my porridge plain but I'll have to try that! I've got some honey, just need to wait til the bananas are ripe enough and there we go! No sunflower seeds though ):

Finland? That's an odd choice of countries to want to live in (though with your peppy attitude, you'll not last long, very gloomy place /jk).

No need to apologise, it's neither good nor bad, but a lot of BBC's don't speak the language no more... I'm inclined to launch into Cantonese when I see other Orientals, but massive fail for the most part (either they speak Mandarin, or they're a BBC gone native).

Don't worry about the de-rail, all in good fun.

BTW, do you want me to PM you that recipe, by any chance?

Haha, I guess it's a bit different. I never really get to travel much anyroad so really, anywhere would be nice for a change but I've looked a bit into Finland a quare bit over the years so I guess I just feel set on that, haha. I suppose it depends where I go too; I mean, I could easily say that Northern Ireland is pretty gloomy; weather for one thing! Finland's actually really, really nice in those regards - in summer anyway, lmao. The snow's probably the only thing that puts me off.
I think Shiv just really speaks it to her granny and that's it now that you mention it. She sounds pretty Belfast (well, not broad but you'd know the accent, haha) though, lol.

Ooh, that sounds great! Thank you very much! :D

I don't really get much opportunity to travel either. Though having said that, last time I went abroad it was Hong Kong (only for four days, I think) and Australia. Pretty good (Australia more than HK, despite being an HKC, hate the place -_-).

And, I'm in much the same situation as your friend, I speak Cantonese only with my parents, though occasionally with their friends when they call or they're over at the same time I am. I have been noted for having a weird accent... and now that I think on it, I wonder what NI Cantonese sounds like! =P

Once again (and this time, answer!) is there any food you don't like?! XD

Money's one of the main things for me. /: I've recently started to really, really want to travel to a few places, Nordic regions in particular. I think Australia has been an on/off thing for me for a while, what do you think? Shiv's just back from being in HK for three weeks! She tends to go with her entire family, mind. She loves it though, haha, but then again, HK weather vs. NI weather |: It has been described as "bi-polar" weather and all LOL. That and usually always cloudy. Should see our faces when there isn't a single grey cloud in sight LOL.
Reminds me, dunno how though, whenever I was last out with her and our other friend to Frankie & Benny's because she was going away for three weeks and she was saying about going back to HK and everyone's gonna say how she "looks fat" but what they mean is, she looks healthy but because of growing up in NI, she takes it more personally even though she knows what they mean, if that makes sense? I assumed it was one of those literal translations but means something a wee bit different?

Haha! It's funny; before this, I'd have said I'm actually pretty fussy! I suppose it depends how it's cooked, what with, what brand etc. though I seem to be alright with most things now that I think about it LOL. Ehh, lychees have never appealed to me or any processed meats or anything... I have to really think about this, haha! Oh no wait, I know. I've never liked frankenfurters. Yeek. Those things are mostly chicken too! My brother has always loved them, haha. What about you?

HK weather is really humid (80% on a dry day... eesh). We go as a family as well (mostly, anyway) and only in autumn/winter when it doesn't feel so much like a pressure cooker over there. Still, I'm surprised that she goes over there to be called fat when it's usually over in HK where the fattening takes place! No joke, older relatives (aunts, uncles and the like) will literally ply you with as much food and sweets as they think they can get away with (and when you get to my age, your parents won't bother admonishing them)! Anyway, I've been to Norway and it was pretty fun, if quiet and uneventful. Went into Trondheim for a bit, quite pleasant and if you're into that kind of thing, the fjords are a sight worth seeing. And I'd definitely recommend Australia though it's only worth it if you go for three weeks or more (and a couple days in Hobart, though that's more of an old person holiday destination).

So... food I don't like: peppers (as in bell green/yellow/red peppers, it's the aftertaste, I think), onions (I've had French onion soup, though, which was nice), radishes, and a few Chinese foods that I don't know the name of in English. A lot of Chinese food is awesome, though there are some more cultural dishes (not really known/popular in the UK) that are positively disgusting (probably why they're not really known/popular in the UK, I guess!).

Just let me have my own halal take away place (Americans, fast food restaurant). If not, I guess I would go for the chicken fillet burger/zinger burger.
