I'd take away laws against drugs and get legally high for a day as has been said before in this thread, but most likely I'd allow death penalty, and kill off some criminals.

The traffic vlaw that I didn't know about because I don't drive that two cops busted me for. I would eliminate it on the Saturday of last year that they decided to card me for so that I could retcon that out of my life.

Only for 24 hours? Not sure. Permanently? The seat belt law.

I get it: seat belts usually keep people safer and can save lives. But laws don't exist to keep us from hurting ourselves, they exist to keep us from hurting others. As long as it does not have potential to negatively affect others, it is unconstitutional to ban it. And yet, we get fined $100 if we're caught not ensuring our own personal safety even just one time. That is not okay.

Old laws really are the funniest come to think of it, i'm loving this one:

"One may not drive a cow while drunk.
The Licensing Act of 1872 explains that operating a horse, cow or steam engine while intoxicated carries a prison sentence or a £200 fine. (UK)"

Just for 1 day, if it was legal to go drunk cow riding, I think I might..

As a non smoker, I'd probably revoke the smoking ban.

It's pretty much wrecked the pub industry in this country, along with cheap beer deals in supermarkets, honestly, who's buying 4 pints in the pub, when you can get 24 cans at Tesco for the same £10.

Really tho, since the smoking ban most pubs are either empty, or they've turned into a Starbucks style bar/restaurant/coffee place.

To me, the idea that people go to a place to drink poison, sometimes in the hope of getting to talk to someone of the opposite sex and take them home for some drunken unprotected sex, (and condoms are so much more likely to be forgotten about after eight pints), that's fine, but nooo, you can't have a cigarette is a bit much.

that or revoke all copyright laws for a day, see sales of music/movies/games/etc not change in the slightest, and then just smile smugly to myself, as mere evidence won't change any minds at the top of the food chain.

I'm not terribly interested in removing a law for just one day, because I never really feel the urge to break one.

If I were allowed to make a permanent change to legislation though, I would probably want to remove all mention of religion from it. This would by no means outlaw religion, it would just stop preferential treatment of religious people and the dumbass rules that forbid stuff like gay marriage, abortion, divorce and euthanasia (in the countries that have outlawed them. Fortunately I live in the Netherlands, so these things are already allowed, and it's more a matter of principle that I don't think people supporting some fictional person should get treated differently than people supporting their favorite football team.

In total agreement, they tried passing a religious hatred bill, but it was so vaguely worded that comedians like rowan Atkinson had to protest it, because as it stood, you could pretty much be prosecuted for saying 'The Pope has a funny hat', and to me that's far too fuzzy as laws go. On top of that, if it's to protect people from 'Death to the infidel' type threats, don't we ALREADY have laws against threatening to kill people? does it matter if it's religious people you threaten or people who wear Ugg Boots, or who have glasses?

Well Im disregarding your 23 hour time limit. The one law I would get rid of is The 17th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Which moves the election of senators to the general public, before they were chosen by the states house.

I'd remove road rage and hoon laws. That way I can side-swipe all the douches on the road.
