If you could upload your personality/consciousness to the net would you do it?

Very cyberpunk I know but would ya?

Could you stand a disembodied version of you floating around cyberspace possibly working to it's own agenda?

Could you stand being being completely disembodied and non corporeal?

I think if I were dying and the opportunity was offered to me I would. Who knows what would happen to a human consciousness in cybernetic infinity? Sounds kinda fun actually.

- In a heartbeat.

- Me? Nup, I probably can't handle being a disembodied conscious, but my silicon based copy surely would be able to! I am a fighter :D

Yes, no thinking about it. Being disembodied is nobiggie and interacting with all the net would be awesome.

I'd be afraid of what my consciousness would do on it's own, not gonna lie. Knowing my mind and how random it is, it would probably spawn some kind of ultra-replicating virus that would spam people's computers with the most random things ever.

Uploading my soul to an unshackled computer? Hell yeah.

Sharing my consciousness with you lot? Fuck that...

Though if anyone has seen the movie "Summer Wars", something like that might be bearable.

Not really. Sure, I'll be able to look at porn 24/7, but not being able to... *ahem* do anything about it? Count me out.

That depends. Would I be vulnerable to, say, specialized anti-virus software? I think there'd be a lot of fun to be had with internet shenanigans as a digitized mind, but I'm not terribly keen on being wiped out of existence by the latest Norton product or whatever.

... I'd probably pass on this.

Now, going foglet... there's some appeal in that, to be sure.
(If you don't know what a foglet is, go read Transmetropolitan. Like, right now.)

Of course!! Although I doubt I'd find someone willing to dump my consciousness into cyberspace...that is to say if my body was left as nothing more than vegetable. I mean having another me in cyberspace would be cool, but I'd rather be the one who is actually surfing the net.

I'd do it, but only if I could still be me,

like I just sent a copy of my mind into the internet and watch what he would do if he had access to:
poorly secured government sites,
first-world utility sites,
banks and the accounts thereof,
credit card companies,
military information,
and let's not forget, ALL THE PRONZ.

I think the internet me would feel like he had discovered heaven or at least an incredibly realistic varient of SIMcity societies.

Nope, simply because I can be quite a P.I.T.A. and would probably end up in an eternal war with myself

Would I? I'm counting on it! If however i could only copy myself, that would be awesome too. Can you imagine an O.S. that thinks the way you do, loves the things you love, and has access to all the accumulated knowledge on the planet? How easy would it be to find porn media that you love then?

Yes, yes, yes, sign me up for that now please. I'm trying to live right so I'll be alive when it really happens. I'm counting on a more mature net though, foolproof backups of my memories, easy insertion into containers or bodies. Just for fun, I like to imagine being overwhelmed with spam and pop-ups when computers are in my head or vice versa.

No, I would never allow my mind to be within the confines of the internet, let alone surf through it. What if I hit a virus? Or if the net is shut down?

How quickly it would turn on you, because its practically a god and you're just a bag of flesh with a keyboard.
