If you could visit one fictional universe, which would it be?

First thing to come to mind is Equestria, of course; it just seems to be a more... wholesome world, overall.

If not that, I'd go for Azeroth, as my goblin hunter; kicking ass alongside my faithful worg, Gnomebane, I'd bring power, prestige and profit for the good of the Horde! (Not that True Horde crap Garrosh was pulling. Seriously, fuck that guy.)

I'd choose to live in The Culture universe of Iain M. Banks. Standard lifespan is 300 years but you can choose to live indefinitely, medicine is incredibly advanced so you don't have to get ill, and it's a post-scarcity economy. Also there aren't any formal structures and the vast majority of people are just looking to have a good time and enjoy the universe as much as possible.
Well fuck me sideways with a stick.

Iain M Banks was first recommendation in a Sci-Fi thread and was the second answer to a dream Universe in which to live. I'd like to take personal responsibility for this glorious state of affairs with my years of recommending him in every single Sci-Fi thread I see.

Needless to say, The Culture [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Culture] would get my vote all day e'ry day.

I'd visit Discworld. While the average person's life is probably pretty mundane, getting to see the witches and wizards and Death and the post office/mint and golems and the night watch and everything else would just be amazing. Plus it would all be spectacularly well written.
Runners Up:
the world from Avatar: The Last Airbender/Legend of Korra
Xanth
Middle Earth
The version of earth that Harry Potter takes place in
Amongst like 20 others.

I'm going to have to go with Mass Effect myself. Ideally, I'd be a Turian Engineer, and possibly meet a sweet Quarian girl on her Pilgrimage. Lets not forget that all Turians have military experience. All of them. I would strut around with a Mattock and feel like such a badass, preferably with a Supply Pylon. It would be heaven.

Of course, it goes unsaid that this would either be before Mass Effect, or take place after the Destroy ending or the Indoctrination Theory ending. Screw that Control/Synthesis bullshit.

Hum, good question, I'm tempted to say Elder Scrolls because the existence of Elder Scrolls themselves is awesome, and being a battle mage would be awesome--but thinking about it further it would have to be a fictional universe with faster-than-light travel.

It would also have to me mostly lawless. Technologically advanced + anarchy, or anarchy a dominant force existing in opposition to order. Maybe Dune, or even EVE, or whatever fictional universe Riddick is in. Sorry I can't give an exact one at the moment. It will probably occur to me tomorrow.

I'd go to some universe where Multiverse travel is possible; say, The Golden Compass, Bioshock Infinite, or maybe Tengen Toppen Gurren Lagaan, as from there I could gain the capabilities to become a universe-hopping badass in my own right, and go to all the other realities as I so desire. Easy enough after a few hops to find places with immortality and time travel, and at that point I can basically become the Doctor, except with all the multiverse within my reach.

I'd have to say Ghost In the Shell. I just wanna go cyborg until all that's left is a brain in a brain case. Sometimes I just grow weary of this mortal shell, and want to go beyond it. Be more. Be more in tune with technology and free to drop into the net. Have, hopefully, less upkeep, and less maintenance.
It wouldn't hurt that my physical body could be more ideal, if not outright interchangeable, or remote controlled. being superhuman could lead to more exciting jobs.

Anyone ever watch Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure? The thing people don't tell you about time travel (aside from said movie) is that you're always aging. If you went from exact time to exact time between worlds, you'd still age. You'd still grow older. If you spent 5 years in the other world, and went home to the time you left, you'd be 5 years older prematurely in your world. People might notice. Your clock is always running. Being a cyborg would slow that stuff down... but then again I don't see it in the rules that you can carry back what ever powers you gain in the other world.

Gensokyo, the playground of massively over powered monsters, people, and best of all...

IT APPEARS TO BE POPULATED ALMOST ENTIRELY BY FEMALES!!

I mean what else could you want? When you have girls who can manipulate any fucking boundary imaginable, create massive nuclear suns by snapping their fingers, and alter entire timelines by changing history on a whim, you can pretty much have any power you could possibly want and not be out of place.

Also women...

Lots of women...

World of Warcraft:

Awesome scenery:

Death isn't permanent, you just visit a spirit healer and walk back!

No shortage of excitement, super bad guys for me to heroically kill are around every corner!

Giant frikkin swords and spiffy magic!

Pizzazz, I simply love the flavor and style of the the universe. Especially seeing adorable gnomes with giant two handed swords chopping things to bits, or tanking some impossibly huge boss. I have a soft-spot for "adorable things that kick ass" and WoW has that in spades.
I'd pick WoW as we'll but for two reasons:

1. Death is cheap

2. Draenei women, yo!

Equestria. It's not as idyllic as some people think, but I'd sure as heck rather live under the rule of Celestia & Luna than the people running things here.

I'm probably going to be alone on this, but I'd get myself into the Kamen Rider universe. I'd love to be any Rider, but I'd prefer Decade or W to be honest. OOOs would be nice too.

For those wondering: Kamen Rider Decade: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x85i6k_kamen-rider-decade-dcd-henshin-and_tech

I have two answers that are similar but have rather extreme differences in tone.

Tamriel or Equestria, I love magic heavy fantasy settings, and both of those appeal to me greatly. Plus adventuring in both seems like a valid occupation so I can finally ditch the frustration that is the modern job hunt.

Mass Effect (after the destruction of the Reapers).
Pokemon obliviously though I'd go for the Sinnoh region.

Either the Mass Effect universe or Pokemon. Ultimately though if I was really given the choice and offered no time to make up my mind then it would definitely have to be Mass Effect.

Hmmmm...I would have to say Middle-Earth. It is unmatched in its beauty and mystery. I am baffled as to why someone would rather visit some of these other places when they could see the Ents waking up or ride over the fields of the Pelennor on the back of a giant eagle, lead an expedition to Dwarrowdelf or relax with a pint in the Green Dragon Inn.

I'm disappointed in your lack of imagination, people. Come on, get it sorted.

I'd have to say Equestria. Hopefully I'd be a unicorn, magic just seems so versatile there. [small][sub]As long as I don't fly too close to the sun with my fake wings.[/sub][/small]
