I have been working on a story called "The Stellar War".

It is the year 2069 and mankind has inhabited the moon and Earth's orbit. All the Nations of the Earth have been dissolved and there now exist two superpowers once more; the Union of Terra Firma, and the Lunar Empire. The two nations are heavily reliant on eachother for resources, with the Union supplying agricultural goods, and the Empire supplying industrial goods. a war over resources is sparked and the Empire invades earth and conquers it in under two months, killing civilians and soldiers alike. The Union is forced to flee to space. After several months of biding their time, the Union launches a massive counterattack, drives the Empire form the Earth, and pushes them back to the area around the moon. The Empire deploys a massive doomsday weapon that obliterates the Union forces, yet the remnants are able to succesfully crush the Empire. By the war's end, over 7.5 million soldiers and civilians are dead.

The way war is waged has changed considerably. Two new classes of weapons dominate the battlefield: the smaller HT or "Humanoid Tank" (resembling the Armored Shrikes from Blue Gender), and HHT, or "Heavy Humanoid Tank" (not quite to the point of being Mobile Suits but getting there). These weapons come in many shapes, makes, and sizes.

The story feature amny main characters:
- Marcus Jaden (Union)- An 18 year old civilian who is rescued by a Union SF group and ends up joining the military to get back at the Empire.
- Alicia Hughes (Union)- A beautiful, blood-red haired member of the Union SF team that recues Marcus. Pilots an HT and is a highly skilled pilot. Is the subject of Marcus's infatuation.
- Allen Shores (Union)- A young college graduate who is drafted into the Union's Draft Corps. Is placed in command of battle weary platoon.
- John Faraway (Union)- An ace HHT pilot who too is placed in command of a battle weary HHT platoon. Is one of the more hateable characters of the story.
- Reylena Brass (Empire)- A red-eyed woman who is one of the many results of an experiment to create the perfect pilot for HHTs. Her perceptual abilities far surpass that of any normal person. Flies a custom Imperial HHT.

The plot is a series of interwoven strory lines. The book occurs in chronological order and jumps around from character to character, chronicling what they do, how they contribute to the war, and how their paths cross from time to time (kind of like Pulp Fiction).

The story starts when Marcus is rescued by Alicia and her platoon, dragged around for the next week and leaves with the last of the Union troops on Earth. During the meantime he becomes infatuated with Alicia, who is too caught up with being a soldier to notice his affections. This changes when Marcus puts himself in harm's way and stabbed while trying to protect her. Alicia then realizes Marcus's affections and seeks his attention. Unfortunately Marcus goes on the war path and joins the Union's SF in order to get revenge for the deaths of all of the innocent civilians the Empire killed. Marcus and Alicia are assigned to the same unit and fight together for the rest of the war. As the story progresses Marcus is consumed with anger and revenge, while Alicia attempts to reel him back in. In the end Alicia succeeds in her attempts after making Marcus realize what he has become. The two survive the war and disappear.

Allen Shores comes in halfway through the book a month after the Union launches their counterattack. After being drafted into the Union's Draft Corps. (similar to the Gallian Militia) he is placed in command of a what is left of a platoon. Through the use of strategy and logic he and his platoon acheive the impossible. As the story unfolds the reader begins to see Allen become more mentally unstable as the members of his platoon die in the most horrific of ways. With the death of his sister (who was in the platoon) Allen goes crazy and finishes the war in a mental ward.

John Faraway arrives on Earth the same time as Allen, and too is placed in command of a battle weary humanoid platoon. As the story progresses, John is placed in the thick of some of the biggest battles of the war. The more he fights, the more he comes to see the enemy less as mosters but more as people, and that the side he fights for is just as corrupt as his enemy. Towards the end of the book he comes face to face with Reylena Brass when she and her battalion are sent on a suicide mission to retake Berlin during the Imperial retreat. John resigns from the Union after the battle at Berlin and searches for the POW camp where Reylena is being kept. He succeeds and is there to take her away after the wars ends.

Reylena Brass is intorduced early on in the story and is the commander of the Empire's 14th Humanoid Battlaion. She is the right hand commander of the Empire's supreme general, whom she sees as her father. Reylena goes through the story blind to the fact she is being used as a puppet by him. Near the end of the story the general sends her and her forces on a suicide mission. Reylena encounters John Faraway. When the general is killed retreating from Earth, her and her forces surrender to avoid further casualties. She is then taken to a forced labor camp. She is found by John in the end of the book.

The theme of my book is that the line between good and evil becomes blurred when boths sides are equally corrupt.

I have to go. I'll let you all pick my story apart if you wish.

Geeze my books seem like an anthology each are like 800-1000 pages long... and they all take place in the same worlds sometimes with similar/related characters, the stories are pretty different in all, theres a fly buzzing around my head which is annoyign the crap out of me, but i sure like making my fantasy novels (i write down ideas from little adventures i have in my head when i should probably be paying attention to the real world)

I've got two books in the begining stages.

One is a typical fantasy/journey book titled The Omega King. The other is a little different, I'm not quite sure how to explain it, sort of a modern fantasy/mystery, it doesn't have any title yet.

Also I've written quite a few short stories, my best being Sanctuary's Song and A Return to Dreams. I have a bunch of poetry written as well and more haikus than I care to try and count.

Some sort of misanthropic, satirical steampunk, perhaps.

Alternatively, if I was intending to earn some money, I'd write some sort of garbage for the tween market, change my name and relocate in order to dissociate myself from aforementioned garbage, and live somewhere suitably remote with a lot of cats, a hallucinogenic garden and a supercomputer.

But I cannot write. I cannot really do anything well.
So move to LA and you got 90% of that shit covered >.> 100% if you bring cats

SORRY FOR DOUBLE POSTING >.>
I forgot to mention..I don't like being in the vicinity of good-looking and talented people. Makes me feel even more like crap.
So LA is out.

I write short stories occasionally. They tend to be Lovecraft, Wodehouse or Asimov/Bradbury ripoffs. Although that's suggesting that they're of a similar calibre. Which they aren't.

Well here is a plot of a different book (the one just before undying angel: Edge's story)
Its title is Undying Angel: Aftermath Mirror (its a sequal to Edge's story but it came before, And though a sequel it doesnt give away teh ending since nobody knows what REALLY happened to Edge)
"Who are you?!" Locke yelled, as he jumped out of bed, scared by a misterious figure at his window. "Nobody of importance, All you need to know is the gods are back, and I cannot stop them, With chaos gone an angel loses her wings..." the cloaked figure Handed him a blade with golden symbols on it that said "godslayer" Edge asked "Who are you, what are you ding with my brothers sword, WHERE THE HELL IS EDGE!" Lockes question went unanswered as the figure left without a word, "My brohter killed the gods... and himself with them... how can they be back, and besides, how can I stop them..." Locke was lost in thought as he usualy was since his brother left, he couldnt do anytihng at this point anyway so he went to sleep.
(theres a part from the first page now i will give a part from the middle, you know to interest you)

"What the hell? whats going on, I dont understand, I'm just a human, I'm just Locke Rift, No more, No less, I'm not Edge I'm no hero, I can't challenge gods like he did, he was an archangel, he had the power to do so. If I went along with you, I would die, I want out, NOW!" Locke was furious, he threw the godslayer to the ground and walked away. Kira picked up the blade and stared at Locke blankly and said "Is that all? You are just giving up..."
"Yes, plain and simple"
"You're right, you are no Edge, you are a coward, Edge gave his life and now you would let it go in vain, you have a power Locke, one far superior to any gods, to the archangels, you were blessed by the blue phoenix... it's your destiny to save the world, you might die Edge knew that risk, but he saw himself as one life given for billions of others, if I can, I will gladly die in your place, but please, Help me, Fullfill your brothers final wish."
"...I'm no hero, I'm also no coward, If the gods want to destroy us because we have screwed up, then fine, At least we all die..." Locke said in a low voice as he walked back and took the godslayer. "Maybe if I decide to fight back I will."

yeah, not the most interesting parts but the ones that are would spoil the story If you want to read from the begining I have made 6 so far and am working on a seventh

Undying Angel:(A story of a boy stopping the Archangels from destroying the burning plains)
Undying Angel: Mirror (The story of the godslayer)
Undying Angel: Revolt (story of an angel of death fighting for himself)
Undying Angel: Aftermath
Undying Angel: Aftermath Mirror
Undying Angel: Edge's story
Undying Angel: Blood stained wings (A work in progress)
-note the mirror stories are stories that take place at the same time as the predecessor but through a different viewpoint and a different side of the story Edge's story is the first sequel so far all others either take place at the same time (though 1-2 and 3-4 take place 100 years apart 5 takes place after 3-4 but is a sequel, and 7 is going to be before any of them all)

If I was going to write a book, it would be either in a medieval fantasy setting, or a post-apocalyptic setting. It would center around a ruthless tyrant who kills and abuses people, and genuinely believes that what he is doing is best for everyone. In the end he would fall to an anonymous figure, to show that evil-doers can have altruistic intentions, and heroes can be people we have never heard of.

I can write a book. Im just not.
If I did though, and I have thought about it, it would be the telling of my TES characters, before during and after their respective games. Most likely I would focus on the inbetween times.

Well, I wrote an initial chapter as a short story once. The protagonist was a succubus who accidentally targeted a somewhat lenient priest, who accidentally binds her in service and has her protect his daughter (he was only recently ordained). The only part of the conflict I'd thought up was her trying to dissuade her incubus brother from targeting said daughter. Took some liberties with the incubus/succubus myths; they're actually closer to Karin-style vampires than the old myths.

I'm still tempted to take it up, again, though it would just be for my own benefit.

I'm currently writing a story, myself. I can't really place it in a genre, though I guess it'd be closest to an adventure. My writing is sub-par, though (in my opinion) and I'm currently suffering from writer's block, so I don't think I'll be posting anything any time soon.

Considering that I am currently working on a series, I refuse to answer your questions before it gets published - if I ever finish it and can find someone crazy enough to support my endeavors, at any rate. Even then, I plan to publish it under a pseudonym so no one I know realizes I wrote a book.

The reason being this:

I'm in the process of writing one.

Sci-fi horror.

That's all I'm gonna say, because it may never be finished. I'm horrible about starting something and never coming back to it.

I take it I'm the only one who's tried to bludgeon himself to death after reading over what he's just written, then?

What's worse is the days when I read back and it's all I've written is "all work and no play makes Monkfish a dull boy" over and over.
Complete waste of an afternoon, it is.

I lol'd. Especially because I have no money to pay you, so good luck with that. :D

Nope, I've never tried to bludgeon myself over what I've written (except for term papers, which don't count in my opinion). I do go on massive editing sprees sometimes, though. And I do mean massive (rewriting ten chapters for no good reason aside from a sinister inner urge?? Yep, all signs indicate insanity).

If you keep looking back and thinking of your writing as abysmal, you'll never finish your book!
And neither will I, if I keep going on massive editing sprees. :)

I hate to quote all of this text but I need to ask, is the redeyed protagonist modeled after yourself? And if the Union and Empire are so dependant on eachother then why does one try to take over the other? And if the moral is that the only two intergalactic superpowers are corrupt, then where does that leave the rest of humanity, and the protagonists?
