I actually know a house near my place wich i suspect is haunted. I'd buy it and have a bald ghost inhabit so he can act like that one from the intro of Silent Hill 4.

I imagine anyone who sleeps in the house will dream about the hosue being sealed shut. Then this guy comes through the wall. Then people will wake up unable to tell wether it happened for real or not, and be haunted forever by the other hauntings that occured in SH4.

If you had a haunted house, what would you call it and have in it. And I'm talking about a real haunted house, not the one's you pay to get into.

I'm naming mine " Stereotypical Haunted House"

Guess where that came from and get a reward.
do we get a cookie?

on topic:

id call it haunted house and put ghosts in to haunt the house and murder anyone who entered not being myself.

I would name mine:

"Going Out Of Business!"

To attract more guests, to which I murder and plaster them on my walls.

This is what I posted in the 'Saw Trap' thread. Basically, the haunted house would be a punishment for all who enter, each punishment for their main sin, with punishments all in a suitably ironic fashion.

Right, I have a few ideas, I'm actually a sadist, I know. Anyway, if you don't like the idea of ripped limbs and gore, then don't look at the spoiler boxes. Or do, I don't really give a fuck either way. Anyway, these are based around the seven deadly sins, and before anyone asks no I haven't seen SE7EN, so I haven't stolen the ideas. These are original ideas I'm coming up with right now.

Strap a naked man and woman together facing each other, and they each have blades literally nailed to parts of their bodies at random. They're in some kind of device to force them to move, basically forced sex, and the blades are slicing them both. Ecstasy in agony, basically. To escape, one has to die. They either both die (probably of blood loss), or one dies and the other is strapped to a corpse, adding a bit of necrophilia to the mix. When one dies the other gets released, although I'd imagine forced necrophilia and torture is enough to make them go insane anyway.

Greed here means material greed. Think Shylock from The Merchant of Venice. Anyway, for this, basically, a series of materialistic possessions of the victim would be modified to cause pain, so for example, add miniature razor blades to the inside of the person's clothes, then force them to wear said razor clothes. Lock the person in a room, and to escape, they would be told they had to use these objects that are with them for as long as they could, and you release them after any time you want. There would be devices that make the pain more unbearable, for example, a bed of nails that they'd have to sleep on wearing the razor underwear and so on. Blades on the walls and floor make it even worse.

For gluttony, the person has a funnel nailed to their mouth and various raw animal organs are poured into the funnel at a slow rate, and more gets added and faster as time goes on. The person will either choke to death, or to escape they have to slice open their own stomach and eat part of their own flesh.

Easy one here. The victim has to stay in an Iron Maiden or a bed of nails, and more nails are being pressed into them over time, all over, by a device they wear on their body. If they survive and stay awake for at least 24 hours they'll be released, the device they wear and the door to the room have time locks on them.

Disfigurement over time. Simple as that. The victim wears a device that has blades attached all over it and cuts them in different parts of their body, mostly the genitals and face, at set times. The slicing gets faster and more frequent over time, again, they have to survive for 24 hours to escape, another time lock on the device and door.

The victim here has the person they're envious of opposite them, and they're locked in chains to a bench made of blades. Their enemy then has a choice, to unlock the victim, in order to secure their own freedom, or kill themselves with a knife to give the first victim freedom instead. However, if the person unlocks the chains and frees the envious victim, then the choice of who lives or dies goes to the victim themself and they decide who is killed. Bit of a loyalty tester, this one...

The wrathful victim and the object of their hate are naked in a room save for the earlier mentioned bladed devices on their bodies, and they have a choice of bladed weapons. Then they fight to the death, but the walls and floor and ceiling of the room are made up knives sticking out, and they're standing on said knives. They basically fight to the death but the devices they're wearing are slowly killing them anyway, and to escape one has to kill the other before they die themselves.

I'm a really sick bastard, so I'm warning you not to open these spoiler boxes if you have a weak stomach or can't handle a bit of gore, since these are really very disgusting.

EDIT: Actually, thinking about it, I might incorporate these methods into my next Short Story... not Digs, of course, but my next stand-alone story. That'd be pretty interesting...

That's not a haunted house, that is a house of torture.

It would be haunted by the ghosts of the victims, and they would basically mess up the heads of the survivors so badly... that said, any survivors would already be fucked up ;)

Honestly though, this house would be the stuff of nightmares. Sanity effects in Eternal Darkness have nothing on me. Here's another example of the sort of stuff that would go on, based on a short story I posted in another thread:

Bright. So bright. Lights flash past, psychedelic, mystifying, astounding, mesmerising, all go past in the blink of an eye. But the eye doesn't blink. Eyes are wide, as if pinned open. Visions flash, past, present, future. All is melded into one, then split into a dozen strands of life, each one turning and curling around within your sight. Music plays, a crescendo of clashing sounds, creating a masterpiece of contrasting form and style. A chorus sings hymns in some forgotten language of old. You don't understand, you can't. You merely listen, you simply stare, enraptured by the display across your mind, tattooed visions playing an engaging symphony of light within your soul.

Darkness falls. The visions stop. Replaced with more, they continue to play. The lights aren't as bright, but the music plays within your head like before. It gets faster. Tempo becomes upbeat, the words you hear become warped and twisted. The lights become darker and duller, purple and green and black across your view. Rain falls from nowhere and lightning strikes from within your imagination. Your eyes are spirals in a crystal frame, as your sight moves to the outside. You see yourself melting, eyes like jelly and legs and arms dripping to the ground. But the ground is no longer there. As the surroundings vanish so do you, bit by bit, piece by piece. You start to disappear. The lights fade, steady, the music starts to quieten. Sleep.

Your slumber ends with more visions, horrific in their nature, dark in their delights. They torment you. Screaming pierces your ears, fire and ice exploding into being all around you. You see the people near you ripped apart by vicious figures, but what they are you cannot tell. Blood sprays into the air, a fountain both beautiful and surreal in its very nature. Some lands on you, all over. The figures are drawn towards you, licking the drops of blood from your naked body, dragging their claws against your skin. But your skin is no longer there. Flesh creeps and muscles tighten, as the creatures, no longer mere figures but horrific forms that belong only in your darkest nightmares, rip your body in two and pick apart the bones and organs. You scream but there's no sound. Your tongue is gone, your mouth sealed tight, sewn with a needle and thread. Your eyes are pinned open once more, there's no escape from the nightmare. The pain is unbearable. You feel like a million knives are being plunged into every part of you. The screams of those around you suddenly stops. Silence.

You wake once more, alone. A corridor stretches in front of you. At the end is a mirror. You walk slowly towards it and take a look at your image inside the black glass. Normality. The pain has stopped, the creatures of your nightmare have gone. But it's not over. The walls drip, blood seeping from cracks and faces staring in the dread gore that runs down each and every facade. The mirror no longer shows your image, but that of a beast, more vile and disturbing than those which saw to your earlier torture. You run back along the corridor, away from these angry things, but reach a dead end. There's no way out. You feel a sharp pain in your chest and look down. Blood drips once more, but no longer from the walls. It drips from you. You fall to your knees, and with barely a sigh, you become still.

Think about it. I have such a fucked up mind...

I would fill it with the ghosts of unborn games, crying out in agony to their developers, yearning to be played. Any game developer that has canceled a game must walk through this house of the unborn ones. If they still have the balls to go through with it, they will earn my eternal respect.
You make a good point, almost good enough to reconsider my thoughts on abortion. But then cancelled game is more like a murdered toddler than an aborted foetus.
Fair point. I'm actually pro choice (or whatever it is) when it comes to abortion.

This thread confuses me, are we supposed to give our ideal haunted house? Am I haunting the house? Am I trapping people in this house (House on Haunted Hill?)

Either way I would call it 'The Manor' and I would have ghosts in it. Not the Hollywood type though, the kind that you only see the shadow in the corner of your eye and are never for sure if you saw anything at all.

I'd burn it. With napalm. Then I'd call it "Pile Of Ash."

EDIT: Wait, wait, wait. I changed my mind: I'd burn it in a way which leaves no traces and then get the insurance money.

If I had my own house I wouldn't care if it was haunted. I lived in a haunted school for 3 years and never saw anything remotely supernatural.
