I would probably go for my power from the last powerlistings wiki trip:

Law manipulation [http://powerlisting.wikia.com/wiki/Law_Manipulation]

Seriously, what isn't to love about that?

Alternatively, I'd wish for the the next nine thousand and one winning euro-millions lottery tickets. I think that should be good enough.

This probably isn't healthy, but ... To be born again (don't know if I want to be born in the same body at the same time place/time or not) every time I die with full knowledge of my previous lives. And very importantly to be able to cancel sad which if I wanted to.
Or if I'd be in a moral mood, I'd probably wish that everybody would be forced to speak the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth to the best of their capabilities whenever asked to. It'd make it much more difficult for people to abuse their power.
I'd probably go for the first wish though.

Everyone is wishing for omnipotence, infinite money, and teleportation, and I'm just sitting here wanting a real Reshiram to call my own. (Although all that other stuff would be nice too.)
Now that is a wish worthy of high five *Sends his high five through the net*

I would either want two wishes, depending on the mood.

If I am not selfish, I would wish that magic actually existed(with the base of it being the four elementals), meaning everyone gets to have magic :)

If I am selfish, I would wish to become a spirit of winter, meaning I had power over ice, snow and cold wind. Also I would be immortal(in the sense that with enough power, someone would be able to kill me).

I would wish for the power to cure the sick, any type of sickness/disease. I hate seeing people suffer and if I could just help them it would be more rewarding. I thought about a cure for cancer but I feel like even with a cure something else would come up. Also if one company got the cure they would keep it for themselves and make a boat load of money off of it. I would go into hospitals and cure people and never ask for a single cent.

You do know that in the original Djinn mythology wishgranting Djinni aren't actually benevolent creatures, and you generally take their place if you wish them free?

A lot of people seem to be going for the standard omnipotence/omniscience/wealth approach. To be expected, but I don't begrudge anyone for it.

I would wish that my dog aged at the same rate I do. She is the most amazing thing ever to live! Smart, playful, loving. I would even have friends and neighbors willing to testify in court that she is the greatest dog ever.

So yeah...my dog makes me happy and I wish she could do so for much longer than her standard life expectancy.

To rebel marksman: As per arabian nights rules, the genie wouldn't get destroyed. However, also by arabian nights rules, genies are dangerous demons that are imprisoned for good reason. However, wishing for it to be human would be funny (and royally piss it off). Ah, but genies are fictional anyway, so what I'm saying is meaningless.

To redo highschool starting from Day 1 freshman year with the knowledge I have now. I certainly don't mind how everything turned out, but things could have been a lot better. Seems a bit selfish compared to some of you guys, but there are some mistakes that I would take the chance at redoing in a heartbeat.

To keep all the wisdom I've learned throughout life as I die and reincarnate. I can't imagine doing anything without my ideas and morals, so that's my wish. I have no wish for power of any sort, as the only power I exert is over myself and myself only.

I would wish for my books to become popular. Not for the money, although I'd want to make enough that I could live comfortably and continue to write.

I just want to have that feeling of accomplishment. Of appreciation. I've been writing for fun my whole life and only now have I been able to wrote something complete and worth publishing in my own eyes. I want what I've always loved to do to be acknowledged and liked by other people too.

I don't need it, but I want it.

Wasn't that one of the spells from F.A.T.A.L?
Considering that you needed to roll for orifice size, I wouldn't be remotely surprised.

I don't know . . .

Madoka Magica has left me with a severe distrust of anyone offering wishes.

But the OP implied that there are no negative repercussions for making the wish and that the spirit of the wish must be fulfilled rather than the letter. Taking that in mind, I proceeded to put a slightly embarrassing amount of thought into this.

I initially felt obligated to make a wish that would change the world for the better, but I'd likely fuck that up. The systems that make up our world are extremely complex, and there's no way that anyone, let alone some college kid, would be able to make a single wish that would be guaranteed to create an overall improvement in the global standard of living. And while god-like omnipotence/omniscience would grant one the knowledge and power necessary to genuinely improve the world, I wouldn't trust myself to use that power, as I'm almost certain that I would be unwilling to muck about too much with people's lives. Oppression on the part of a deity is oppression nonetheless.

So, out of fear of inadvertently ruining the lives of others, I began putting thought into a wish that would benefit me. More specifically, something that would substantially improve my own life without being obviously supernatural to anyone else.

Several of the classics briefly sprang to mind---teleportation, invisibility, immortality---but these lost my interest fairly quickly, for a variety of reasons. Immortality in particular had some serious issues with getting the whole "not obviously supernatural" condition to work, and the others just felt . . . boring. They failed to excite me. Yes, they're both really cool powers with a vast multitude of uses, but I just wasn't hyped. This would be a once-in-a-lifetime chance, and I really wouldn't want to squander it.

In the end, I think I would settle on hypercognition, more specifically enhanced learning and retention abilities. Basically, I would like the ability to rapidly[footnote]With the time reduced by, say, a factor of ten. So anything that it would take me thirty hours to learn normally could now be learned in three, one-hundred would become ten, and so on and so forth. This is fast enough to be extremely useful (Just look at those numbers!), but slow enough to maintain some amount of plausible deniability (Hey, I had to study too, y'know.)[/footnote] learn and process new skills and information on both an intuitive and technical level, without having to worry about mental or memetic atrophy of any kind.

This would not only be a very personal and easily concealable power, but it would also enable me to work toward bettering humanity without having to take the wheel. Rather than god it up, I could participate in scientific, technological, and/or medical research while producing new art and music in my free time. It would also enable me to learn about all the fantastic things this world has to offer that I'm going to have to let by in real life, because my desire for knowledge far exceeds my actual capacity to learn. Hell, I'd go so far as to say it exceeds anyone's capacity to learn. There's just too much to know, and too little time to know it in.

I would wish for a personal pocket dimension from which I can access any point in any reality I wish.

First stop, the land of exceptionally loyal AIs in order to pick up a digital manservant I shall call Alfred. From there, adventures await!

Given such a home/base of operations, with a little forethought one could do just about anything.

Realistically I think wishing for superpowers would fuck me up physically and there'd be some problems.
It's a rather selfish and boring wish but I wish the events of 2012 never happened. It was honestly the worst year of my life where I knew and had to deal with terrible people. Just it getting wiped from my memory would be good enough.

Depending on how you phrase it, that wish could easily doom the human race to rapid extinction. Personal desire is the primary driving force behind nearly everything we collectively have ever done. Even the kind of generous person who spends their entire lives helping others can trace their motivations in part to selfish desires.

One of the first things to come to mind was the ability to steal anything - and I mean ANYTHING. If I wanted a game but I didn't have the money for it? easy, just stand outside the store and snatch it. Game too far away to snatch? Just steal the space in between. Lost a year to a coma? take it from someone else. Can't figure out the answer to the last exam question? pluck the answer out of someone's head. Death come for your soul? Just take it back.

Granted I would become the most infamous thief and constantly have to run from the law, but at least I'd be ridiculously well off.

Another thought would be to reincarnate upon death and to remember all knowledge, experience, and abilities I have accrued over the course of my life and retain it going into all future lives. Given enough time and lives I could easily become a master of all martial arts, be a genius inventor, and generally show up the rest of mankind by being the first to make a floating kingdom which I would rule with a stern but benevolent fist.
