If you had proof that God didn't exsist, would you show the world?

People would believe in God even if you had enough proof because Faith is about believing without proof.
Oddly only religion works like that. Any secular institution existing like that would be considered ridiculous.
Of course only religion works that way, it's the nature of the beast, since they are dealing with beings that exist on other celestial or ethereal planes, possibly within this dimension or perhaps within another. In lamens terms they deal with something that cannot be seen, but are supposed to always be there. Anyway, so to answer the question posed in the original thread, I doubt it would make the world any better, the last thing we need are Nihilists and Objectivists gaining any kind of philosophical ground or political leverage. The whole no morality and the idea of only thinking about yourself would undo alot of what has had to happen to get ourselves as far along as we are, however little that may be.

I would, but they would all use their usual logic* to prove that it is not true

*Logic meaning covering their ears and going "NANANANANA!!!!"

discuss it again? Why not find one of the many, many older
topics on it already made in this forum to post your generic
regurgitation of something we've already heard before; reworded

How about you actually put forth some effort into being
creative/interesting by making a topic on something new and unique?

Buddy, you appear to be a Topic Nazi. Like a Grammar Nazi but for topics.

WHAT GOD or gods are we talking about

i wouldn't say anything because it wouldn't help any body to tell them that which they but their hopes in is not real unless they were a crazy ass zealot trying to make people kill themselves or something along those lines

also if it was the Jew/Christan God i wouldn't tell any one i would just go become a politician so that fight the death penalty and make prison crappier since their most likely would be no after life (and cry a bit)

Revealing the truth to roughly 2.4 Billion people doesn't trouble me if I can present it well. If the God belief was proven wrong I'd prefer we know sooner rather than later.

Hmm, well in order to possess the knowledge that a being that is so far beyond mortal mans comprehension does/doesn't actually exist would mean you're pretty much a god yourself if you happen to actually 'know' let alone have proof... so sure I wouldn't mind being the object of worship, I assume I'd also have the key to immortality since it's a more basic form of knowledge at this point?

Well, I wouldn't I mean it would be the truth...but revealing it to the world would cause chaos, and/or cause more trouble than it can help. It's too much of a gamble, Religion keeps the Majority of the masses pacified.

Yea I would, religion rules our world way too much and it needs to be stopped. Religion was created to keep people in check when there was no type of authority, now that we have an authority we should just get rid of religion.

I would use the information to prove all major religions wrong so people can just forget about those stupid cults but i would not tell people that there is not God. Think of every person who is diagnosed with cancer and knows there is nothing waiting for them, old people knowing there time is soon up and all that awaits them is nothingness.

Faith = Good
Christianity/ Islam/ Hinduism/ Judaism etc. = bad

To be honest, I don't think I'd be able *not to* tell people. Think about it, wouldn't you feel... 'fake' if you saw all those religous people going about and you had factual proof that they were all following an illusion? I couldn't bare being the odd man out by such a large amount.

(Also, hi! First post from a mostly lurker, I've seen a lot of interesting topics on this forum and figured I'd reply to one for a change.)

No, the world shall never know.

The world does not deserve this knowledge.

That's like telling a child Santa Claus isn't real.

See, i always wonder, why do people assume god does exist? Why is God=yes the default setting? In other words, it shouldn't be the scientists (y'know those guys with degrees and crazy shit like that) trying to prove that something isn't there when there's no evidence to suggest it was even there in the first place.

Religious leaders should be the one's searching for proof, their the ones making the claims that something we dont know about is there.
How ironic... most influential historical scientists were religious. The ignorance and the irony in the thread is killing me...

Religious topics are dumb.
