If you had proof that God didn't exsist, would you show the world?

There's a saying:

You cannot reason someone out of a position that they did not reach through reason in the first place.

Not to mention that people tend to believe(religious or otherwise) whatever the hell they want regardless of evidence.

What I'm getting at is that if I had such evidence, it would have be phenomenal to convince anyone but those already ready to leave their religions anyone. And it would only disprove specific types of God. While it would be easier to prove the non-existence of the Biblical God, a Buddhist or Deist view of God would be much harder to disprove(that is a vague notion of the divine or even just a non-interventionist view). Proving something(paticulary something that's already outside the realm of our provable observations such as the supernatural) doesn't existence is very difficult. And good luck trying to prove to an agnostic there is no God(if their view of God is something that cannot possibly be understood by humanity).

And it would be much easier to find evidence that a specific God did exist then disprove all possible views of God. Still difficult, but easier then proving the non-existance of any God Whatsoever.

I most definitely would. If there was no religion, think about the world we would live in--no religious wars, no prejudice, no nutjobs leading mass suicides. It would be a much better world, so yes, I would.
The problem is, we'd have non-religious prejudice, wars for resources or political extremism, etc. You'd still have the integral problem that Humans are fundamentally jerks and always have been. I really don't think the world would be a significantly better place, because humans will just find something else to kill, steal and do other horrible things over.

I'm sure this qoute has already some up.

If there were no God, it would be necessary to invent him.

If I had irrefutable proof I don't think I could bring myself to deny the world that truth. That would be like knowing the cure for cancer and just not telling anyone. Some knowledge is too large to not be shared globally.

If I had undeniable truth I would show it to world PURLEY because they tried to force me into Cristianity through constant propoganda in Primary school.
Thats a fucking stupid reason.
Really? Because I think it would serve the bastards right for punishing me for not praying to a God I didn't beleive in.

Oh, and why is it a "fucking stupid reason"?

Smite the infidels!!! Although to be serious, I don't think it will change anything. God will always exist, I don't mean that literally though.

No I wouldn't show it if I had proof! Why? Well simple, it wouldn't make a difference at all. There is nothing wrong in believing there is something bigger in my opinion, where things go wrong is in the sheer unacceptance of someone believing in something else.
Simple words, a simple act, but one that can make all the difference. If only other people were as enlightened as you dragonspirit.

of course. religion is meaningless to me.
Right now, I don't have cancer nor does anyone else I know. Therefore, cancer treatment is meaningless to me. That doesn't mean I object to my taxes going towards treating other people who do have cancer, simply because I have accepted that I am not at the centre of the universe and that things which don't mean a lot to me are still important to others.

no

some people woouldnt be convinced
of those who were, many would commit suicide

a pandemic would unfold

people would become depressed, a lot of people would lose their sense of morality

people would generally become lost with no church/sinagogue/temple etc to go to
religion is more than just belief in god for a lot of people, a sense of community

basically you'd be the biggest bellend in the world if you did

So, would it make the world any better for the sake of a few billion people? Any opinion welcome.
Doesn't matter. It's blatantly obvious god doesn't exist yet people choose to believe. That's what faith is.

I would, more wars have been started in the name of religion than anything else. if you had undeniable proof then people would give in and they would stop believing

You don't know that Caliostro, you should really stop pretending that you do, it smacks of anti-religious narcissism.

Hell yes. Then we wouldn't have all these religious radicals going around bombing eachother claiming they will get 72 virgins or whaterver the hell else they believe in.
They would simply find another excuse. Humans are an aggressive and violent species of animal, if you think removing religion would make everything ambrosia then you are not viewing the situation with an impartial eye.

First religious conflict on that list is number 21. However, I see at least two notable atheists much higher up the scale (Stalin and Zedong).

Yes I do. You do too you just refuse to accept it. And anyone who doesn't downright REFUSE to see it does too. It's so obvious it honestly makes me sad so many people are so deep in denial.

No, which is the same reason I'm agnostic. If you don't believe in god, what's there to live for. It's not worth it just to prove your right to kill off a few billion people.

Actually, you are the one in denial. I have a theory...

Homophobia has often been attributed to people who have some homosexual feelings but can't come to terms with them. They hate that aspect of themselves, and turn it on others who are gay. If you are truly comfortable with heterosexuality or your homosexuality then the sexual preferences of others shouldn't bother you. It is only when you have a problem with your own sexuality you turn into a bigoted ass towards others.

I believe theophobia (hatred of religion/religious people) is much the same. I don't believe in god, but I am comfortable with that. It's a personal thing that I don't feel the need to pontificate about or scream about. I don't insult or belittle those who think differently and I can freely accept them for who they are. Others can't. Others have to scream and shout about how 'bad' religion is, much the same way as homophobic people have to scream and shout about how gay people destroy everything they touch.

There are other similarities. Much like homosexuality, belief is not a choice, it is a state of mind/being. Much like homosexuality, it is something that reaches into the very core of someone, and something that some people feel shame about (even though they shouldn't). And much like homosexuality, religion is something that can cause people to be outcast from social groupings of various sorts during childhood and adolescence.

A lot of the antitheist ranters around here are probably believers, but simply hate themselves for it.

YES i would.
it would stop alot of religous conflict.
but then i'd have to hide and bare arms.
but just think of the peace that comes from it.
then we just need to unite all the nations in the world and try to complete the goal of space exploration.

a man can dream cant he...a man can dream.
