If you had to be a weeaboo for any country (BESIDES JAPAN), which would it be?

For those who are unaware, a weeaboo is a person who zealously obsesses over Japanese culture. Some even try to act like they are Japanese even though they're as far from it as you can get.

So with that in mind, if you had to, what country's culture would you be fixated on that isn't Japan's? It can be any country on this earth, besides the Land of the Rising Sun. Listing why you chose your country is encouraged.

Personally, I'd choose Italy. The art, the history, the scenery... It's a very pretty country, but being the place to really kickstart the Renaissance makes it even richer. The impact on science, religion, and philosophy is valuable, but the art has to be my favorite. Even today, it's still a lovely place.

So what place would you choose?

This is a no-brainer for me: Germany.

Mainly for the engineering, architecture and Unter den Linden... and gay pride... ¬_¬

I'd chose Italy as well, mostly for its history.

Italy has the Renaissance and its buildings, three of the most amazing cities in Europe: Rome, Venice and Florence, a beautiful countryside and of course the Roman empire.

The country has also given birth to same of my favourite historical people like Caesar, Augustus, Machiavelli, Cesare Borgia and Napoleon(somewhat). Also Etzio.

Australia or Germany.

Germany has some great music and interesting history. Australia has a warm climate, cool creatures and friendly people (At least most of those I've talked with). Germany isn't that far away. I imagine Australia as the opposite of my own country, mostly because of the climate.

I don't know. It's a tough choice.

Does it have to be a country that currently exists? If it's time open, I'd say Eastern Roman/ Byzantine Empire. The architecture, the artwork, the military prowess and political manipulations, it's ups and downs, it's move from late antiquity Roman to a culture all it's own, it's all so very fascinating.

If it has to be a modern nation, I guess Red China, since it seems like they'll be the dominant power before I die, so I guess I'd better brush up on them.

I guess China probably, I mean outside of the UK they're the country I pay the most attention to the news from and where I actively seek out books on their history, politics, philosophy etc. I don't think I could be weeaboo for it though since that kinda implies ignoring or dismissing all other cultures which I don't think I could do.

I used to be a big fan of the Ancient Greeks and renaissance Italy in fact I'd still say that Rome is probably my favourite city in the world.

I guess that would be American for me (no I don't want to be super obess but there are certain aspect of the culture that appeal to me). There are stuff I want to try out (Twinkie) and I was excited when they open an American theme resturant over here. Also for once I want to experience long term heat (I'm from the UK so I have to deal with the annoying rains) and have iced tea again!

If I wasn't Scottish, I'd go with Scotland. But I'll go with the next best thing: England.

That is, Victorian-esque styles, you know... top hats, monocles - that sort of stuff.

Pretty much this. Germany's a pretty rad country. Not to mention it's the center of WWII history, so yeah.

Well this is a strange as heck question. Isn't the whole point of weeaboo being an insult the idea that loving a country too much is silly? The only problem I personally have is when Japanophiles take their interest in Japan to the point they basically become nationalists for the country. And nationalists are never cool.

Well, I guess if one is obsessed with Japan, the next best thing would be something like South Korea or maybe Taiwan.
I do think that both Japan and South Korea are some interesting countries. Even though nowadays they like to pretend their countries are nothing alike. They share some of the exact same problems and benefits.

In fact, it is amazing just how similar Japan and South Korea are. That isn't to say there aren't differences. But wow.
Of course, Korea is a little more boring because of their history and how they treat it. Where's the Ninjas, y'all? Ninja be fun as heck. Also, Korea doesn't have nearly enough rock or electronic music. I like how the Japanese pop music scene is so very electronic dance inspired.

Moving on outside of Asia, Finland is Winland.
I know that Norway and Sweden are pretty cool. I know. But come on, there's just something about Finland.

Oh, and how about an area of a country? Hawaii of the United States. If you're a Japanophile, there's loads of Japanese people and Japanese culture in Hawaii. The place also has native Hawaiian culture which is fascinating. Hawaii is one of the most culturally diverse places in the United States. Plenty of great food to eat, Hawaiian, Asian, Western. Then there's clear waters for swimming and skimboarding and surfing. There's skateboarding parks in places like Kona. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1lFAkmHIbE] And the Hawaiian islands are just beautiful. Hawaii is also a pretty liberal place and constantly votes democratic. You'll hardly find any conservatives in Hawaii.

Hawaii is like everything right about California, but even better. Larger Asian population. Better beaches. Clearer waters. More liberal.
Really? How can you not like Hawaii?

Well, there are a few downsides. Food is more expensive. Housing is VERY expensive. Volcanoes are a danger.
But then again, a lot of other places are expensive to life. Like Japan. Or lots of places in Europe. Sadly, Hawaii is small, and lots of people want to live there. It is quite a privilege to live in Hawaii.
