If you had to make a villain for a video game what would he (she) be like?

Personally if I was going to make a really dark and menacing villain then I feel he would be based strongly on Heath Ladger's Joker (bloody great actor), you know wacky, crazy, violent, inconsistant and a love of violence and chaos. I would have hium operate with a desire to reek chaos with thegoal of trying to overthrow the local government because he can see how corrupt it really is. Kind of a cross between the Joker and V from V for Vendetta.
I would also for the sake of story have him be strangley charismtic, feared and loved by his many supporters and have a sick love of torture and he even eats human flesh.

If you were going to make a villain, how would you make him or her behave?

I would try to make the villain have very good motives and be easy to sympathize with, to the point where he could even make a fitting protagonist. Maybe he was wronged by the hero or maybe he has drastic ideologies that aren't necessarily crazy or unwarranted. Either way, he'd be realistic and more than a crazy or power-hungry guy.

We don't get enough villains like that.

I'd make someone so unrelentingly evil and remorseless like Anton Chigurh in 'No Country For Old Men' that you spend the entire game just dying to get your hands on them and choke the life out of them.

A guy who's heart isn't really in it, but he's doing it impress a power-hungry, Weird girl.
Or someone NOT totally overconfident.

I would definately make a comic relief villain, who is the most powerfull being in the universe and could kill you in one hit, yet is afraid of you and won't attack at all.

That could work in a game like Disgaea. A lvl 9999 named Scared Puppy or something...

Someone who is a genuine, real threat to humanity. Someone who is both able and willing to kill, and do other evil things. Someone who is devastatingly brilliant, and who is a real challenge to the heroes who want to defeat him. And for god's sake, *WITHOUT* a British accent!

Basically, someone who is convincing.

For 1: I'd Fashion Him In My Image (Devilishly Handsome and all that)
2: I'd Give Him a Very Powerful (and almost broken) Power List
3: Give Him An Army Of Minions (always impotant)
4: Most Important Of All, I'd give him an original reason for being the bad guy (being Sadistic, Conquest-Oriented or Vengeful/Petty won't be enough)

Oh! I'd make his Main power would have something to do with shinny exposions (of course...)

Probably a cross between Andrew Ryan and The Joker. Someone motivated by extreme idealism and ambition but more hands on and more humorous than Andrew Ryan.

Believable and engaging. Of course, that's much easier with villains than with heroes anyway.

This is a -really- fun one to tinker with! I can go two ways with this. Either I'd make a villain who's so puppy-kicking, baby-punching evil that he's just hate-able for no reason other than that, and wants to do the James Bond World-Blowy-Uppy thing but has the bloody common sense to just shoot the hero instead of use a slow moving sawblade with one guard who's picking his nose...

Or just make a guy who's only 'evil' because he's decided the rules don't apply to him. Less "I want to kill you because it'll hurt your family and I get off on pain" and more "You seriously get on my nerves. Die." The kind of guy who'd just do -whatever- he wants, screw the consequences- and then gun down the cops that come to get him. Just because these guys are fun for me to watch in movies.

I would make my villain so faceless and unkown that you could be sitting in the same room from him and not even know it. Someone who could be anyone, even someone you are close to, and you wouldn't even know. Really, I would make him the main protagonist's split personnality.

Basically a dick who thinks he's better then everyone else and taunts the player the whole game that way it's a lot more satisfing when you put a bullet in his head and shut him up.

I would want a cross between Vladimir Lem from Max Payne and V for Vendetta. He would have super human strength. not too powerful, but powerful enough, but as this charm and sexual nature to him with a thick russian accent. The ultimate evil is someone who is not only someone who does evil deeds, but also has charisma and a almost perverted nature.

Sort of like the The Man with the Golden Gun

I would make a villain, who's ends are so noble and righteous, that you would question the notion that defeating him is a "Good" thing, or if in reality you are the bad guy.

His means would be terrible, murder and such, but his ends would be something like world peace, or perfect unity and equality for every man.

He'd wield a massive sword no normal man could possibly hold without breaking his arm, he'd wear the most badass power armour in existance, he'd bake cookies for his underlings, he'd treat his prisoners to Dr Pepper and temperpetic mattresses, he'd own a kitten rescue, he'd donate money to various charities, he'd have a 'hang in there baby' cat poster over his desk, he'd have a crush on the beautiful princess he kidnapped and leave the back door unlocked and open so her room wouldn't overheat, he'd be capable of summoning Satan himself to do his bidding, and he'd transfer money over to his mortal enemies' bank accounts, all just to be a nice guy. And in the end his ultimate goal is still to enslave mankind/destroy Earth and he's fully goddamned capable of doing it and totally willing to. Why? Because it's goddamn original. That's why.
