Seeing that games are ever growing and have been around for decades I figure it's about time we introduce a game as an olympic event. The question is which game?

Personally I'd pick UT2004 (no I'm not biased despite my username....alright maybe a little). It's older so most any country could run it, it's balanced, and it's a fun game. I'd love to watch two teams play an assault match at the olympics (bring back assault DAMNIT!). It would truly bring the olympics into the modern age.

Next time the olympics get to Korea, I'd sense some pressure to add Starcraft. Racism aside, I'd lean towards either 1v1 RTS Matchs, or team based shooters. For RTS, I would actually vote for Starcraft, as it has a very large professional following. RTS, I wanna say something that is less fast paced shooty shooty and more objective based, kinda like tribes of TF2. Balance being the primary concern there.

The most plausible suggestion would be motion control ones. Which suck.

I'll go with QWOP.

That Survival Games-map from Minecraft.

Also, the audience could get a vote in what the admins get to do (That is dump lava or cake) or if a killed player gets a second shot or not.

Civilization III and Rome Total War, mostly because I'm best at those. Or maybe something like Tetris or Space Invaders, as the audience would be more likely to have played that before.

Starcraft. It's already a sport so why not go all the way?
The reason I was against starcraft is because I figure South Korea would have a huge advantage so we'd need to pick something that gives other nations a chance.

I suppose so but doesn't that apply to other sports as well? I'm sure there are sports in which certain countries have a 'monopoly' in them.

A game? I would make baseball an Olympic event.
A video game specifically? That doesn't really work for the Olympics but if I had to choose one I would say Contra with no restarts or Konami Code.

Well, the OP ninja'd me with the game (even down to same version, UT:2004) but I'll differ by saying they should do Bombing run instead. The mode's already kinda like existing sports such as Rugby, Aussie Rules and American football, just with shit loads of explosions and guns. I'd love to watch the best Unreal Tournamenters playing that at the olympics.

Olympic SSF4... Olympic UMvC3... Olympic SFxT (Singles, doubles and scramble)...

I could go on like that for a while. Fighting game tournaments are pretty much the original e-sport, so why not bring that in?

Team Fortress 2. Each country would have a 9 people team, with each member playing a different class.

Defense of the Ancients/DOTA2

It's a great spectator sport with a lot of variety, it's easier to follow than Starcraft for the uninitiated, it's team based and played at a professional level worldwide. Personally I think DOTA is the best candidate for an E-sport to go mainstream.

If not that, then fighting games.
