Sure you can't get them to install a distribution like openSUSE or Fedora? KDE isn't going to be changing its focus away from its current approach any time soon, and you get better integrated software by default.
Unfortunately no.
People working on said notebooks are fed up with Ubuntu's Unity and they react quite aggresive at even mentioning the "Linux" word.

The management said that further experiments with different shells/distributions aren't worth it, even when i suggested switching to ReactOS. To be honest, i'm not surprised. During last months when people tried to cope with Unity our overall performance suffered a little and it means "money". :|

Let's say that you've just won a huge lottery, and now have more money than you actually need, and wanted to donate some of your money to your favorite websites that do not rely on ad revenue. You decide that you're going to donate 100,000$ to a few of these websites to show your support. Does not include charity based websites like the red cross or kiva. just websites that do what you like.

What websites would you support most?

For me:
1. Wikipedia
2. Humble Bundle
3. SomaFM
4. Indie Royale
I'd give some money to Wikipedia, because I really like them. After that.... Dunno. I'd like to give money to charities, to be honest with ya.

PETA, I want to see what next insane thing they'd do with massive funding...
Terrorism. On an "evil mastermind with a volcano lair" scale.
You're talking about an organization who literally picks the most retarded battles that they can possibly find.

-Calling obama swatting a fly a public execution
-raising hell because of the tanooki suit

There's no one in that group competent enough to be considered a mastermind.

Jesus, you guys with your responsible donations.

I'd donate to Wikigameguides. I've been following those guys since they started doing it almost six years ago now. They sort of got into the YouTube craze first, and I loved their walkthroughs and humor. And they aren't doing as well as I think they should be.

1) Wikipedia. Important center of information, it has helped me numerous times in the past and just in general has a lot of interesting facts. Also hopefully if I donated that damn donation ad would stop pestering me every time it returns.

2) The Escapist. I love this website, great message board with colorful community and great programs like Zero Punctuation.

3) Cancer Treatment Society/whatever you call it. As one guy already said we need a cure.

4) 9Gag. Humorous website filled to brim with clever jokes and memes. Certainly a lot better than the insanity that is 4chan.

5) TV Tropes. Immensely informative and funny website about all the meaning in various media. I want it to stick around as a database because unlike Wikipedia citations are NOT needed which makes it a lot more enjoyable to read.

Seriously though, there are many many websites and causes I could donate to. Definitely would want to keep Wikipedia up, that is for sure.

Oh yeah, I give even more of my money to Escapist, too!

Fuck the internet. I would just help my neighborhood, hell, maybe even all of the Bronx if I could. If not, then I wouldn't spend a penny on anything on the web. I would likely just spend it to see all my good internet friends in person or something. I guess that counts as spending it on the internet, so whatever.

1. Wikipedia, the long-term use of encyclopaedic documentation can't be ignored.
2. Amnesty International.
3. Google. (they have given me so much for no material cost and I have a lot of respect for them)
4. Some form of free software development (Linux etc), benefit computers the world over.
5.Probably http://www.escapistmagazine.com the wonderful people who work here always manage to make me smile.

Childs Play
Epic Meal Time

4chan is dying a slow death. It needs to be remade into something fresh or to what it once was.

Escapist magazine for obvious reasons. This is one of my favorite places that isn't blocked at school.

Wikipedia so that dude can stop posting those personal appeals. As Tyler, the Creator said, "Quit your bitchin' this ain't a fucking hotline".

Childs Play because it is a great organization.

Epic Meal Time because that much bacon must cost a lot of money.

Looking back on this thread, i'm sort of surprised by how many people listed 4chan. it might shine from time to time, but it's still the rotting anus of the internet.
