So with the release of Black ops and the upcoming MW3, more and more people are jumping on the bandwagon titled "I hate this franchise". Now if the amount of people I heard say "Im not getting the next one" actualy kept their promise, CoD wouldnt have made nearly as much money as they did. Yet year after year they go gangbusters in the games market, now becoming the best selling video game of all time.

So what Im curious to know is, if you apparently hate it so much, why keep going back? I'll admit I said I wouldnt buy black ops, or MW2, but I did it anyway. I'm starting to feel like an abused housewife coming back to a drunken husband, you know he wont change but you cant seem to leave him.

It's fun for a few months and I personally don't hate it, I just point out it's flaws... primarily the net code. My God, the net code!

I'd like to think people who don't like CoD don't buy it. Personally I'm just uninterested in the franchise and that is why I don't own a single CoD game.

I am playing a friends copy of Black OPs. So there.

Seriously, the multiplayer is alright. I'm having fun running around with dual revolvers like a retard and getting some lucky kills. I feel invincible in shotgun range at least.

That being said, the amount of fun I am having does not justify buying my own copy. I just don't personally think this is 60$ worth of fun.

I really loved the first modern warfare, thought the second was terrible, BOPs seems to be a step back in the right direction.

I mainly play it because I have friends who play it online all the time, so its mainly to keep up with them. Its getting to the point though where I have no desire to buy/play COD anymore, just because of the copy-paste design.

But hopefully the new one is different, like its being hyped... or Battlefield will move the masses.

-The only copy i buyed was WaW and it was used, I regret that.
-My brother bought MW2 even when I insist it not to.
-Black Ops and COD4 I rent those games, just because everyone is so excited at launch. -.Seriously..... do you remember MW2 date launch? everyone was saying that single player was awesome (it was pretty enjoyable) and saying THE BEST GAME EVER!!!! and after a month people start screaming that they hate the game.

I even remember there is a TOP TEN of the best Cut scenes of COD games, the number 1 was every cut scene from MW2.

Black Ops.. everyone was screaming how great the game and the story campaign it was. (Surprisingly the story was good) How fun was zombies.. apparently they never play Left4Dead, and how DeadOps was amazing, seriously a remember that. I think those games are NOT BAD, but extremely overrated.

And yes Im tired of COD games and I will not buy a COD game. Not anymore, maybe rent.

I don't.

The urge to buy another installment was ever so kindly extinguished by Modern Warfare 2.

Because nothing else lasts nearly as long, and games arent released often enough to warrant how insanely short their longevity is these days.

a 6 out of 10 all the time is better than an 8 out of ten for two days every couple of fuckin months -.-.

Recently Ive taken to arcade and indie games, their cheap so I can pick em up easily, and are usually built to last since they cant depend on surface appeal.

Kind of like MMO's, but less sadness.

I enjoy playing the call of duty games with my friends.

The games are easy, and don't take all that much skill, so stomping kids can be a lot of fun.

Seriously, there's nothing better than getting a group of people together and stalking a shit-talking kid across 10 matches while he screams angrily into his mic for us to leave him alone. Got a 9 year old to cry like that once after he came into a lobby loudly proclaiming that we were all niggars.

It's a safe buy. Tons of people dont have enough money to make risky buys such as Vanquish or Mirror's Edge not knowing for sure if they'll like them. CoD is always a safe bet, you'll know you'll play the singleplayer, enjoy the co-op and probably get some weeks of gametime out of the multiplayer.

My friends refuse to give me crap about not buying it. The ONLY reason I bought Black Ops was to play Zombies. Then they were douches and moved to multiplayer.

What do YOU mean, "you people"? :p

I've played it twice, on my friend's copy. I find it stale and stupid, but good for parties. I've never seriously thought about buying it myself.

I don't hate it....I actually really enjoy zombies. A buddy of mine is really into zombie preparation and the like (seriously, it isn't healthy) and we play zombies fairly frequently. There is one machine gun that has a 125 round clip and I like just holding down the trigger until all of the zombies become pulpy bags of....uh....gone...ness. Yeah.

Also, the Russian loves Vodka almost as much as I do.

"Ha! You are dead now! But...you were dead before.....ah, fuck you!"

That being said, I have never purchased a copy of any CoD game ever and I hate the online multiplayer.

I didn't, I don't, and I won't.

Games like the CoD franchise are annoying, redundant, brown, stale, and they have some of the most obnoxious, dick-headed assholes as a large part of their fanbase. That's my personal opinion, so don't take it as fact.

Because I get excited and also because I have alot of friends who are hopeless COD freaks. Yes I just admitted to caving to peer pressure, but peer pressure is as good a motivator as anything and 60 bucks isn't the kind of investment that has me draining my bank accounts and weeping openly at the bank until they give me a loan. Also, for the last 2 titles I was banking on the insane argument that the game had to be better than the last one and so far I can say that the only COD game I found to have lasting appeal was COD4.

I haven't so much as touched Black Ops.

Does anyone else remember that long past year 2007 when Call of Duty was considered the best shooter franchise out there? Back when it actually broke some ground?
