If you knew the origin of the Universe, what would you do with that kind of info? Take into consideration these points of interest.
1. You have undeniable proof. (It can be whatever you want.)
2. You would be destroying all other religious belief and uniting the world under that one truth.
3. You and you family name will be embedded in human history forever.
4. You'll be set for life financially and socially.
5. People who hold on the their religion will attempt to hunt you down.
6. It can be the proving of a current religion and/or god.

With all this in mind, would you come out with it and what will you name your truth?

Please note that I am trying to create a structured thread wherein people can express their opinions freely without being criticised, if your going to criticise, go elsewhere or do it in a constructive fashion. Thank you.

Do we choose what the origin of the universe is?
What if it's the proof of a religion, like Christianity or Hinduism?

Yes, i have the same urge that Achillies did. My name will last through the ages, especially if i become a martyr. Glory will be my name, hand in hand with my doom.

I would write up a secret agreement and give someone else all the credit by making them come out with the truth but they would have to give me a certain percentage of the money.

I was wondering the exact same thing. Though on topic I would say that I would just hand the information to the proper scientific or religious authority and let them have all the gory and handle the fallout. I would just ask for some acknowledgment as a contributor. I don't want the glory, but I do want to be recognized as having helped to find whatever answer we are talking about.

Even if it's an "undeniable proof", a lot of people will still ignore or deny it.
Also I don't think that a lot of religious people would try to hunt down the one who found out this proof. How many people are there hunting scientists because they're proving religious things wrong?

I bet if you told someone secretly what the origin was and they told everybody, that person might be assassinated. So I'd surround myself with many guards first, then tell everybody.

Then get laid.
With sex.
See the favorite quote thread to understand that.

I would have to hand it over to the public. just to unite the human race under a single banner.
and then using the financing I have, pay people to boost our technology. research things and make humanity stronger!
even if it costs us the colony...

Agreed. There are a lot of people out there that have "undeniable proof" of a lot of things. Especially conspiracy theorists.

But, for the sake of the topic... I dunno, I guess I'd let people know? I probably wouldn't be believed, but I'd let some science people know, or... something.
Or maybe I wouldn't. I don't think it would change much of anything.

There is sort of undeniable proof like the proof that there is a moon. Sure you will get some crackpots who think it's a conspiracy. But this is the sort of proof that would guarantee that the majority of people would see them as crackpots rather than people with any sort of valid opinion.

In answer to the question, or course I would, imagine all the wasted time of humanity I could save by them not having to worship a false god anymore. It's to be expected that people would devote their time to more useful endeavors.

why would the seeing of the creation of the universe prove there is no god? last time a checked you could just as easily be showing the word that there is a god, dammit i read the posts for five seconds and im already seeing comments about humanity being saved without having to worship false idols, can we go five minutes without disrespecting a religion or ones without one? i know this is athiest heavy site but jesus christ show some respect for those that arnt at least

Last time i checked it was humanity, not religion, where all the hate is from, getting rid of religion wont fix anything, if anything it will create more hate, Funny ole word aint it.

If i had the secret to the creation i would keep my mouth shut because who they hell would believe me? what.. did i bring a cam recorder or something?

I let my discovery be known, in all honesty, if I did that and were 'set for life' as you say, do you think people WOULDN'T be guarding me 24/7? I would feel safe enough to let my knowledge be known

Hang on a tick mate, in case you didn't notice the last point in my first post you need to be nice in your criticism and just for the record, I am atheist and the truth CAN prove a god if that's what you want.

If I had proof of the origin of everything? I'd use it, to undo it.

If that wasn't possible I'd tell everyone, tack on a bit about me and my line being all important. Set myself up as the single greatest being on the planet. Take over some shit.

Or maybe just finish by saying, "Now that that has been explained the error will be corrected shortly. Please prepare for total universal deconstruction, we thank you for using DIMENSION 13 for all your universe needs."

Yes, I'd do it.
Even if some extremists'd hunt me, that'd be worth it.
If me and my family are reach and famous, we could afford plenty of security.
Also, if I was killed anyway, well, at least I would've made the world a better place.

I wouldn't tell anyone because it's likely that they will just brand me a lunitic and burn me at the stake for "dissing" their religions.

Honest answer:
1. Check my results.
2. Using experts from around the world check my results.
3. Use a popular television scientist or science enthusiast look over the results.
4. Go over the results and plan any implications on religions.
5. If I could, take the proof and experts to affected religions, see response.
6. Take proof, experts to UN. Allow for debate
7. Using television personality as a spokesperson make public globally on television.

Theoretical implementation time about 2 years. Although part 5 could extend this to up to 4 years and part 6 another 1.
