Before you call me a fanboy leave and run to your blops
My reason why i like it.
The gameplay is just flowing You run shoot and jump.
the weapons are well designed.
And i just love the halo unvierse .
And halo reach only has 50% regen health.
Ever seen the health bar under the shield meter?
And it requires skill but if you dont It have enough you can still have fun.
And it is epic sometimes.
And bungie never milks it.
And some people *cough* Yahtzee *Cough*
just complain about it And call it horrible.
Its just something you have to tune into it.
And then its a blast.

And if you think i am a fanboy or a metacunt as yahtzee calls most halo fans.
I am not afraid to say i like it.

I like the universe, the back story, the visual design and I am a sucker for stories based around humanity fighting for survival against incredible odds. The campaign has always been enjoyable, and if you play on the higher difficulties, a challenge (although they got easier as the series went along, as games seem to be in general). I like the MJOLNIR armour and the whole story of the Spartans. I like the weapons for the most part, and the style of play.

My dislikes are the multiplayer in Halo 3 and beyond (too many small maps no longer any tactical play), the player base and Bungie with their pathetic decision to limit Halo 3's ranked play lists to those who shell out the money for the map packs, and the same with Reach with the added insult of a tiny amount of maps to begin with.

I most certainly disagree that it requires any skill. It requires the memory of the spawn and weapon locations and the rest is basic competency of how a Halo game works.

I don't mean to be pedantic, but most, if not all of that, was Microsoft's decision.

OT: Of this generation of gaming, some of my best memories are of Halo 3's MP. I never understood the hate against the community (I guess Halo 2 set the standard) because I always found very interesting and decent enough people.

Yes, I have enjoyed all the Halo games. Well, except for Halo Wars, which I haven't really played.

But yeah, I don't hide it. Why would I? Unless I considered it a kind of 'guilty pleasure'...

That is not the case.

I've been a Halo fan since the first one, mainly because I like the backstory, aliens and the fighting. I prefer the more arcadey shooters like Halo to games like CoD where one bullet can easily kill you.

And the fact that at the moment I am wearing a Halo T-shirt would suggest that I don't do a very good job of hiding my love for the series.

I don't have a working Xbox anymore, and while I don't miss the halo games, I enjoyed the series greatly at the time. Probably my favourite thing is the integration of the vehicles into gameplay. Much better than a lot of shooters, where there's only forced, scripted rail-shooter segments on the back of a truck or tank or whatever, or the occasional game where you're suddenly driving down a specified track.

I've been a fan for years, and I don't try to hide it. I've played all the games (including Halo Wars) and read most of the books. If you take the time to really delve into the backstory, you realize that the universe it's set in is surprisingly detailed.

I dislike all the whiny 12-year-olds and douchebag frat boys that populate multiplayer matches though (thank goodness for the disable microphone feature).

I love Halo... my absolute favourite thing is Halo 3 Big Team Slayer on Ratrace Heavy...

But no, I do not hide it. I've played (and 100%) every Halo game up to Reach and Reach is only the exception because I haven't had the money for the latest DLC yet.

I like it because it has infinitely more variety than multiplayer games such as CoD. Grifball and Team Rocket Hog are both bloody fun, and you wouldn't find stuff like them anywhere else.

Also, Combat Evolved was the first real shooter I ever finished, so I still have super-fond memories of the series.

At first I hated Halo, but now I've sorta warmed up to it. More so with every release apparently.

It just plays well, the music is great, and the multiplayer is fantastic.

I think it's a shame it gets lumped with all other modern shooters like Call of Duty. Halo actually has colour for one thing...

I like the fun that I have. Is that really such a hard thing to find about the series?
That and this:

That is awesome.

I really liked the multiplayer in the first Halo, but I never played the campaign. I still need to finish the Reach campaign.

I adore halo, I don't think there's any game I've played more. It's got a ridiculous amount of variety and still feels fresh after 10 f-ing years. Plus in addition to the stuff you have to pay for like the maps, bungie is always throwing the fans small suprises like new game modes.
plus its just a lot of stupid fun. =D

It looks pretty and if it was on PS3 or I had faith in my pc to run it without lag then from what I've seen I'd like it a lot.

I like it, I've been playing it literally since day one of owning an XBox, my reasons are pretty varied but you seem to have covered a lot of them.

I don't tend to display my liking for it unless people ask though. I don't hide that I like it, but I've found that whenever you just casually add it into a list of games you like you tend to get flamed for liking it. So I don't mention it unless in a thread like this where I'm specifically defending it.

Wait, why would people try to hide liking Halo? It's one of the few video games that it is actually 'cool' to like, like Madden, which I figure must have something to do with them being terrible games.

As for hiding it from other gamers, why bother? Most gamers have at least played it, and aside from maybe CoD it is probably the easiest place to find a multiplayer match. Any gamer that gives a shit beyond a "pfft, halo" then never mentioning it again is an arrogant arthouse poser.
