Yahtzee didn't say the game was horrible he said it was average and halo 3 was. Personally I enjoy halo, 1 was the best with medkits and an awesome pistol but 2 and 3 are just given too much praise and that's why so many people bag on it so much.

I like it because its a good game series it isn't milked for money (well by bungie atleast) they stopped making them now unlike cod a spurts out another brown game every year ats the same as the last one but with worse graphics, overpowered guns and a shit story.

Plus halo listens to its community unlike cod.

Anyhow i don't try hide it since i know more people also like it so you can use it as a way to meet people.

I loved the original Halo back in the day, if the series had magic I don't think it does anymore. Tons of respect for Bungie and what they've accomplished but the entity that is Halo with all it's paraphernalia trimmings reminds me why I back the little guy. I can't play Halo game battles because of the community, the community is so important for enjoying a multiplayer game and the community that has evolved around Halo isn't one I want to be a part of.

I like the fun that I have. Is that really such a hard thing to find about the series?
That and this:

That is awesome.

I really liked the multiplayer in the first Halo, but I never played the campaign. I still need to finish the Reach campaign.
Spoiler'd cause it's quite large..

Uhmm.. why would you buy them..? Maybe for a few "doggy style" references, or "IMMA DOGGING THE CHIEF" but.. other than that..
They are ponies, not dogs.

Ok then.. "My little Chief" and "IMMA RIDING THE CHIEF"..

Happy?
I never said I would buy them. I just enjoyed the picture.

It's fun! A lot of my friends are just like "Oh go back to Halo you consoletard while we talk about real games!" (usually Half life 2, portal or crysis), and I'm just like "Fine, I will" and then I have a lot of fun either effing s up on the multiplayer, mid air rocket kills ftw, or just get into the story mode and have fun. Then they'll be like "Ooooh that looks like fun, can we play?" and I'll be all like "Nope, go play a 'real' game".

I also like the way it's probably the only shooter I own that's rendered in colours outside of the dirt spectrum.

Halo 1 was pretty fun, so was 3, mainly cus of local co-op. Me and my buddy have alot of fun blasting co-op shooters on whatever, played a bit of multiplayer in both... Meh it's not THAT great, but it was good, it worked. I do think there are many better shooters for me out there, but Halos more careless aproach (more jumping, more running, moving around) is a nice break now and then.

@OT: please.. Don't use Yahtzee's vids as grounding for any argument, they are exaggerated ALOT and jokes are made all the time. Will people ever stop trying to defend their favorite game from his critisim?...

It's a really interesting universe with some really nice back story and good extra media. It's also one of the more balanced FPS's you'll play (even though I've got a good few complaints to level against Reach's multi). Halo's 1-3 had a really fun story with a great finish and Tghe Arbiter totally stole the show in my opinion.

I don't hide it, but I don't exactly flaunt it on the Escapist because I mean come on, there's a pretty big anti-Halo bias on here. People are entitled to their opinions, but that doesn't make it a very safe place to discuss Halo unless the thread has some kind of disclaimer attached as this one does (not a knock against your thread, just using it as an example).

I like it because it did try something new in each series, even though slight, it actually tried new things unlike one shooter series.

Also, it does have a FEW open environment maps containing vehicles, power-ups and assorted weaponry.

I loved it and I still have fantastic memories of Halo 1.

While I thought it was good attempt at an epic Sci-fi story and the first brought new ideas to the FPS table, I found the sequels rather, uninteresting. The thing that annoyed me most was the fact that many thought 3 was a gift from a God whereas in truth, as Yahtzee put it, it was crushingly average.

There was also the fanboy swarm of 12 year olds at the time, which made the multiplayer frustrating. The same people then moved to COD when they found it to be cooler, and annoyed the hell out of me there. That, coupled with the growing multiplayer focus in many shooters has led to me effectively abandoning the genre, with the exception of games designed to be purely single player.

I loved halo 1 and I liked halo 2 and 3's multiplayer but I can't stand reach. Everyone seems to adore that game but I just hate it...

Had the first on PC, never been an Xbox fan so i've never continued playing on my own systems (and I know they eventually ported 2 to the PC but they nerfed the pistol which was my favourite weapon), I don't mind playing them occasionally at a friend's house but never have the urge to play them on my own.

I love the Halo series bc of the split screen Co-op. Since I can't reliably get internet connection to my xbox throughout the year I haven't really bothered with xbox live gold so I haven't experienced the multiplayer since Halo2.

It's ok...I've never really been a fan, but I've had some fun time playing online with friends in Halo, so I guess I can't complain
